Haven't owned a willard yet but the new grey etched one is really calling me. If you can you please get your hands on one and review. Right now loving the baby tuna case and the spb143 63mas are my go 2 watches... but am very new at this hobby. Keep up the great work!
@@TheLumeRoom Thank you, I haven't put my hands on a Monster yet... I really like the versions with all "teeth"... I have the dark Manta turtle and the dial looks like an oil painting in direct sunlight. Alot of people may be critical of Seiko for QC and price increases but... they are setting a high standard for the industry with these incredible dials... green matcha presage is another example and now these STO pengs... makes you want to go 🎿 in June! Have a wonderful week brother!
I own the SBDC033 Blumo/Sumo and I would say that’s my favorite Seiko case until I purchased this new Antarctica Monster and now I’m not so sure LOL 😂. The Sumo is still beyond amazing as far as the line , angles and superior finishing but this new Monster blows me away . Not only is the dial outstanding but the watch itself and the design and solidness and heft of the case is top notch 👍🏻💯
@The Lume Room I also have to say, the Save the Ocean lineup, it's just an incredible lineup of dials that are mesmerizing. I also have a few, and whenever I want to pick which one to wear, it's really hard to pick. I wish I had more arms to wear them all at the same time... (just kidding about the arms). Thanks for the shots on this one, I really like the whole Antarctica thing, I really wasn't expecting this turn towards the ice kingdom from Seiko.
This is an excellent watch, and the divers extension doesn't matter because no one is using these for diving. You can buy these today for less than $400. Considering inflation and the movement upgrade which has winding and hacking it's cheaper than the Original Monster from 2010.
I also have the Samurai Great white shark edition! This Antarctica Monster is tempting…My wife isn’t a fan of diving bezels but even she’s loving this watch oddly enough, especially that dial! Thanks for sharing!
Seiko attention to detail with design and functionality amazes me. JAPANESE QUALITY AND RELIABILITY IN THEIR WATCHES from their entry level, mid level to high end range line of watches.
Awesome video - I love the 4th Gen Monsters (got a PADI and blue dial/patina hand one) This looks amazing, with the bezel action, you might have gotten psudo munted one. Both of mine have a really good movement to them compared to other seikos I have had. But the steel on steel... and that dial - what a belter! Looking forward to the full review (owned all three of the wave dial save the oceans - but kept the Solar Chrono one as I got that when I was in Tokyo pre pandemic) love the wave dial, but this one might be one to add to the collection in the future
Cheers Adam. Sounds like you've certainly had a good Seiko experience. I need to check out the solar chrono as I like the look. Not as busy as my Flightmaster. As for these STO Monsters... I love them!
I just bought this watch last week. Mine was a JDM model and mine didn’t come with the nice box like you have . I like you this was my first Seiko Monster as well. I was so impressed with this watch I went back to my AD and asked him if he could order the new 2022 Save the Ocean Antarctica Monster with blue dial . It should be in this week. Can’t wait to see that one as well. I always wanted a second and third generation Monster but for whatever reason bought other models instead. I’m loving mine and sure hope Seiko gives us a fourth generation Orange 🍊 Monster with a steel bezel 👍🏻💯
Struggling between this watch and the bright blue manta Save the Ocean Samurai. Watches can look stunning in a video unboxing but be sort of 'meh' when you have them in hand....or the other way around.
I so wanted to buy one! I hope it won't be gone in a couple months. I just recently purchased the Seiko cocktail blue moon a week ago and I love the dial on that!
Mine came in a simple box as well because it’s a JDM model meaning the dial says made in Japan 🇯🇵. The international version of this watch that does not have made in Japan 🇯🇵 got the nicer box .
nice video. but I am torn between samurai manta ray and monster Antarctica. The sammie has sapphire while the monster doesn't have a sapphire. don't know the one to pick.
@@TheLumeRoom thanks. Was hoping you could help with my choice. I have 2 orient rays( blue and orange dial) 2 skx(007&009), 2 orient triton (blue and black) , I have 2 fugu limited edition( blue & blue bezel with black dial) and turtle PADI. So with that said ,which do you recommend between Sam Manta and monster penguin perhaps steinhart OVM 42mm
I wish they removed the cyclops on this special edition. Can’t get over that rectangular long cyclops. Kinda ruins the watch for me. Just date would’ve been fine. This way it takes up a huge space over the dial.
I agree, never been a fan. However, on the day that you come to realise that your eyes aren't as good as they were, you do put up with it...especially when trying to read that bloody date number. Btw, it looks like everything lines up...is it really a Seiko?
I got mine today its j not k but everything is aligned perfectly and the bezel has no play. Its much more beautiful than you can see on the video. The only thing is the clasp. Can anyone direct me to a replacement quality clasp?
I have the turtle "great white" and the samurai "manta ray"..... It feels like I NEED the monster "penguin" 😁😁👍 But I'll wait a little time. Maybe there another color variation coming? Like the manta and the dark manta..
I got the turtle STO GWS, and this one really interrests me. Thank you for giving all the dimensions including the lug to lug. Under 48mm lug to lug is perfect for me. If I see it in real at an AD, I will probably lose 500€ :P
@@TheLumeRoom I have been looking today, all about 500 gbp. I really like the style, love the face and that chunky dive bezel. Hate the hardlex :( I remember a couple of years ago, I emailled a company called Nite, told them if they changed the glass from mineral to Sapphire I'd buy one, and they did, so I did (not saying they did that due to my email lol).
@@TheLumeRoom I have never (knowingly) had Hardlex (have an older Seiko and no idea what the glass is) I just get annoyed that so many brands will use Sapphire at this price point, and much lower. Do you have Seiko watches with Hardlex that you have had for sometime and worn a lot in less than ideal environments, and how have they held up scratch wise?
nice watch, I am considering this special edition as my first monster but I am afraid it might be too big (lug to lug) for my 6.5 inch wrist 8:50 you can always measure it sideway that gives a much more accurate reading 9:17 you measured with the watch tilted, that easily can have 2mm difference :)
It looked like you adjusted the day and date at 1:30 am. You should never do that. I hope you just made a mistake. You can ruin the movement in the watch…
@@TheLumeRoom I`ve seen others do that as well. I`m betting it`s stressful to do everything on camera. Hope the movement is ok, and still changes day and date as it should. Best of luck to you in your future endeavours! 😊👍🏻
