The bezel is spot on for its culture and appeal... they work so great with the stainless steel watches. That Seiko is probably their best model from an aesthetic perspective only.
Have just picked up this bad boy and damn! Just the perfect proportions and stunning dial! Love the colour change from stunning blue in the sunlight and almost grey/black inside in the evening. This is gonna sit on my wrist all day, every day during summer
Yup, love the SBDC107. Great color option and the design checks a bunch of boxes for me. Reminds me of the classic retro skin diver. Will have to wait until after August though, lol
I love your analysis videos my dude you're so quick and informative. As an entry watch appreciator it's great learning from guys like you who know your stuff.
For people complaining it's not really a Limited edition because there's 5,500 pieces. Marc from Long Island watch said in his 2019 review video he sold just under 3,800 SKX 7,9,13 all up. Think about it, that's just one seller in just one year and he almost sold 4,000! Image how many SKXs must've been sold worldwide over the years. This makes saying 5,500 is limited seems more like an understatement. Btw love the watch. Hoping Seiko keeps this permanently and makes it their version of the Sub and releases more colours. This in a Pepsi or Batman would be awesome.
Just want to say, I got the new green Willard about a month ago, same movement. On wrist it is slow 1-2 spd but fast 1-2 spd if put flat on table. So now I take off at night after whole day, and it is been about slow 0.5 spd so far!
exactly what I feel like, BB58! I have had 2 bb58 and a 41mm bb in the past, they are either too big or too small for me, ended up selling them all. This seiko is perfect for me, have the very similar vintage look and feel without being a copy cat of the old sub. I love it so much and bought 2, the brown and gold one and the limited edition, together costed me less money than a used 41mm BB. I have the same experience about the accuracy, i got the brown one a couple weeks before the blue one, wasn’t running great, if i left lying flat for about a day or two it ended up gaining about 1-2 minutes. Got the limited edition for 3-4 days now,so far it’s dead on, which really surprised me. it’s even more accurate than my tudor pelagos, which is the most reliable mechanical watch in my experience, only bested by the spring drive powered LX. I doubt seiko will put a movement with better QC in the limited edition tho, ...or did they?
Who thinks Seiko are now aiming for low sales of an exclusive range instead of mass production of the same watch at a lower price in order to increase a perception of a prestige brand? Any connection of the seperation of Grand Seiko? I'd rather go higher, or lower & most of the people I know ( not into watches) Seiko will never be more than a low tier brand -it's either everyone else & then Rolex , or a brand advertising sporing events e.g. Tissot. Shame.
Same here, i bought 2, sbdc107 and sbdc101. Love the vintage style and size so much. About the accuracy, i found some technique. Try the crown up position overnight, only gain 1 second. if face up will gain 6 seconds at least. On wrist is pretty dead on.
5 thousand watches isn't a lot when it's from a company that makes well over a million watches per year. Most of their big limited editions like the blue dial alpinist sell out in minutes.
GTthreefifty R lue alpinist was way less numbers wise but totally agree in the grand scheme of things 5500 for Seiko isn’t a lot especially with how popular these seem to be.
Where l live, in Asia, we are fortunate to get good deals. I bought spb147j1 for $760. The one with bracelet cost $140 more. Here, except for shops selling swiss luxury watches, all other watch shops sell seiko, and, there are so many. Lots of competition. I supposed when things cool down, you get better deals in the west too. I like the strap. For the first time, l can use it bec it's shorter to fit my 6.25" wrist. The brushed SS bezel is awesome. With that, it actually looks better than my sla017. Both the Willard and this will stay permanently in my collection.
I have this watch and it’s a stunning piece. Out in the daylight the dial become much lighter aqua blue. The more I wear it the better I feel about purchasing it. Also Rob, I’ve watched you for some time now and enjoy your video’s. Question for you. I have three Steinhart’s in very clean condition and I’m going to sell them to purchase a Sinn 104. What’s the best place to sell them? I’ve never flipped any of my watches and I’m kinda nervous about the process. Thanks
Mine arrived on Friday from Sydney 🇦🇺 It’s now 4 days later and the watch has gained 12 seconds. Perfect size, already on a NATO. Currently my No.1 watch. The Rolex is having a break.
The bezel is too wide for me, they made it more rugged looking over elegant looking of the original. I can resist given the wide range of homage options...
i have the sbdc101 its my favorite seiko diver so far. yes its more expensive than Seiko's other prospex divers but the higher quality is noticeable. i will be adding the capuccino dial one too.
QC issue: 4:03 The polished bevel down the lower flank has been over polished into the brushed portion. The break the the transition is wavy as a result, it’s not replicated above the crown so I doubt it’s deliberate 😞.
Thank you. I noticed that too. Honestly, none of the brushing is that impressive to me. Christopher Ward's C60 MkIII and C65s have much sharper polishing lines, as do Seikos own SARX Presages.
"Let's make the watch everyone wants, but keep it in a limited run and double the MRSP." Seiko is starting to act like its European cousins. Think I'm going to start getting into Chinese and Russian watches. A lot of guys seem to be real happy with them.
Searched for sbdc 107 on chrono24, got one hit from a private seller in Singapore... Guess I'll still be looking at a San Martin 62MAS homage instead. Even though I like the Seiko better... that is one beautiful watch, especially its profile is just gorgeous.
Nice piece but, I'd be in divorce court by Monday. Spent a week in the doghouse when I couldn't justify spending $650 on my SPB071J1 + an additional $175 for the Seiko bracelet.
I like the case, reminds me of the SBDC053, the bracelet and clasp. But the aesthetics don’t impress me, the bezel insert and dial color don’t do it for me. Like the hand set.
@@PepRex That's a lot of money for a watch. Would you agree? At least it is for me. I think it is for a lot of people. I don't see anything special about this watch. Nothing that makes it stand out. Being limited isn't enough for me. I need to have something special about it. There is nothing special about this watch. I know the face is unique to the watch. It's still a basic face. Nothing special about the color. Nothing about this watch pops.
