SSK005 Week 2 Wrist Report. Timekeeping hiccup mystery - where did the time go? . Beat error increased, signal on upper ragged. Decreased amplitude. Still digging it though.
PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels y microphone so if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. YMMV if you choose to blow part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

Hello,I bought Seiko moder SNK381k ,caliber 7s26c ,I wear 10 day ,I check amplitude 275 , rate 0+4 per day ,beat error 1.0 . I pay this model month ago,$107 with tax and with shipping. I’m so happy this moder.

These Seikos are a thing. I have had a SKX009 for 6 years, which I love, but I didn't wear it often because it was running slow around 30s a day. Last year it started to run perfectly. I wear it a week and it runs at +/- 5 seconds.

Sometimes if I turn up the sensitivity of the timegrapher it hears it much better. Especially with these divers that have thick casebacks.

i just got a SRPD from them and it was gaining a lot of time each day so i demagnetized it & now i get +/- 1-3 seconds each day after a month of everyday wear.

That's good news. A demagnetizer is a must for any mechanical watch owner.

Are the 7c46-7009 versions of the golden tuna worth getting? I’ve found one made on my birth year and month or are the 7548 like yours a better option? :)

My videos are taking a long long long time to produce because of the expectation that I do so. Getting them ready to also publish for everyone is another process that I've been skipping because I'm overloaded. I would like to get back to my roots though.

I'm curious to see if you can find out in what circumstances the watch gains that much time and if it can be replicated on other 4R34s. Do you find that beat error acceptable out of the box?

@@steveyjay8657 It just needed to run in, which isn't something I expected. Usually the numbers are the numbers are the numbers - it's what the watch is. So, seeing things come out of spec and then back was unexpected.

Spencer, quartz movements? It is driven by a battery, where is the art in that?

Seiko produced some of the best quartz movements ever made. They ain't all worthy of this critisicm.

They're actually the next step in the perfection of time-keeping technology. Horology demands accuracy. Quartz movements are accurate, and when designed and built to be maintained, will be just that.

@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch I am old enough to remember when quartz came into the picture.. was deciding on my first watch as a teenager, either a Seiko auto or a pepsi Seiko quartz...ended up getting the seiko auto... If I want perfect time, I look at my phone, or the stove, or the clock in my car... but when I look at my watch, I want to see the second hand sweeping around the dial... Just my hang up.. not discounting the value of a quartz watch... still have and wear the 6309 -7049... Love the watch... and I consider Seiko watches hands down the best value on the market... nothing comes close... Spencer, you restored my UFO a few years back
