Jerry is puzzled because he can't figure out why the girl he is dating seems to be wearing the same dress every time he sees her. From Seinfeld (Season 7, Episode 13).
My ninth grade teacher told us the same thing happened to her when she was dating the guy she ended up marrying. Every date, the same outfit. Finally one day she checked his closet and he had ten copies of the same outfit hanging there in a row. Turns out he was colorblind, and this was the way he knew his would always match.
I had a HS teacher who was known (there were rumors) for wearing the only white shirt and khakis until someone noticed details on the shirts: they looked like the same shirt but were different!
Blah Blaah Jerry's and Chandler and Joeys apartments are modest. And on Friends even though Monica's apartment is huge there were usually 3 people always living there.
I love how his relationship becomes nothing to do with bonding with her, and he doesn’t care about going forward with it. He just wants to know if she has other clothes!! Lmao!
Is no one gonna talk about how fucking weird it was that she abruptly decided to not wanna go to the movies? Was it because she caught Jerry looking through her place? She was all ready to go to one before ruining her dress. Sorry, people like that annoy the shit out of me. GIVE ME A LEGIT REASON.
nahor88 Its a pure coincidence that I happen to be on RU-vid and am here to reply so quickly! 🤣🤣 But yes, it is odd!! All he had to do was say he was looking for the bathroom. Lol. She did turn on him VERY quickly! Never thought about that until you brought it up. She probably was a little nuts!!
Red Whovian yeah episodes could be discribed that way . also you can say "things happen and people react to it in a funny matter" also nothing what you could call it
Like almost every sitcom today, there is always more than one story/conflict to resolve in an episode. Then there are the Family Guy style shows that fill time by filling the show with random flashbacks.
Jerry should've realized how great this woman was. So many men wish that their wives could quickly figure out what to wear. They would never have that problem with this woman.
I think he was more curious about it than anything. He just wanted to know if she wore the same single dress all the time or if she had like 100 copies of one dress
Hi, Neighbor! My girlfriend dated me for 5 years now. I have shirts that are older than our relationship. One day she threw out some of my shirts (ones she didn’t like and old or seen too many times) and bought me couple new shirts.
I’ve noticed this in a lot of shows. Even lower paid people with jobs such as mailmen, waiters etc live in great houses and apartments. Just so not realistic and just shows how outta touch the producers are
It's just a logistical thing. How would you comfortably and consistently show a tiny apartment? It's cute as a sight gag once, as a long-running set it's unfeasible.
In most cases Jerry's reasons for breaking up with his girlfriends are idiotic but I fully understand this one. Especially once I saw the picture in her apartment, I'd kind of be freaking out
I remember first watching this and being like “I wonder why she cancelled on the movie” but now I’m like “dang no wonder she cancelled Jerry seems like a creep always asking her what she’s wearing and if she’ll change”
I like how he considers the possibility that she just has a closet full of identical outfits, but can't just be satisfied giving her the benefit of the doubt. He just can't help himself.
I love when he's getting kicked out of her apartment and he's desperately trying to get her to wear something else and making it super obvious how he has this bizarre obsession with her clothing. It's such a tease we never found out why she only had one outfit, but it's better that way.
For a while I use to wear the same outfit for work. I had multiple copies of the same dress shirt, pants. But my coworkers assumed I just wore the same pair and never washed them until one of my coworkers just plain asked if I was too poor to afford new clothes. I showed them a pic of my closet and they were surprised that I had six pairs of the same out.
It's such a key part of Jerry's character that he is inundated with beautiful, intelligent women who have long term viability but he always blows it over nothing LOL
The very end is the best part. He’s SO desperate to get the answer. He shouldn’t have waited so long to ask her that question (after she already hung up on him and dumped him), but that’s also what makes it so funny
@@Bob4Billy Im a lady and I wouldnt mind being asked, in fact Id be glad for an opportunity to explain myself. Its all in the wording. A simple "Is that your favorite dress I noticed you wore it last time too" would be a gentle enough approach.
@@veraferra6071 Yes Vera, I suppose it depends on the individual woman! Its just hard for guys because we dont want to put our foot in our mouths and insult her.
I've got sensory processing disorder and sometimes it's hard to find certain clothes that are comfortable on me. Because of that, if I find clothes that fit me well and are comfortable, I'll buy several of them and all the colors. It's just easier for me knowing I'll have stuff to wear that won't drive me crazy.
Did people over 35 dress up and go to fancy restaurants for a regular date back in the 90s? I do remember there was bit more dressing up at some places at the time, but you don't see it like this today, when everyone is so casual.
I wear the same outfit every day. And yes, I wash it and keep it clean. When the top or bottom wears out, I replace it with pretty much the same thing. I dress for myself, not to please others
Absolutely! It's like the Progressive commercial about people becoming their parents! "Now, think for a minute! Where have we seen this shirt before?" "Oh, right! But ya know, I'm still gonna get it!"
Come on ladies, we all know that one girl who has a favorite dress she wears all the time. I mean maybe not as exaggerated as the one in this episode, but still. I know some like that lol. It's probably because she can't find other dresses as flattering, so she wears it all the time. Judging by her New York City apartment, we know it's not because she can't afford to get another one. She just likes wearing it and this show tends to exaggerate real life circumstances for comedic purposes.
So many Seinfeld episodes could have just ended with somebody saying something and the other person explaining. Like here he could've just said "isnt that the same dress you wore last time we met? What a coincidence" instead of smiling awkwardly. 10/10 show though
