Season 3, Episode 16 (Production code: 317)

gtguy142000 These aren't "hands down" the best scenes in Seinfeld, not by a long shot. These scenes are in competition with a lot of others, like the end of the Marine Biologist episode, where George is telling the story in the coffee shop of grabbing an "obstruction" out of a whale's blowhole--that turns out to be a golf ball that Kramer hit from the beach. That was truly hilarious (the way Jason Alexander told the story and revealed the golf ball to Kramer), probably Seinfeld's best single scene ever.

What's so refreshing about this scene is that you can tell it was before the days of cell phones and the internet, where you can easily look up how someone looks and get a feel for their personality via social media. Back then you had to rely on friends to describe people they thought would be a good fit for you. A scene like this can't happen today.

This is so accurate about people trying to fix their friends up with potential dates back in the day. That's what makes it so funny. George's demands are absurd, of course, given his own situation. Brilliant.

Self-referential, non-topical observational comedy with a large dose of cynicism - so it's timeless.

while George is obviously Larry David in another body, Jason Alexander plays him with a certain degree of pathos that makes him likable... LD plays himself hilariously, but you don't cheer for him the way you cheer for George. Genius character.

I like how George first asks about the girl's looks and after that he asks about what she does for a living. However, that is the FIRST thing that the girl asks about him. That really shows the difference between guys and girls. It's very clever writing right there my fellas 👏👏👏👏👏
