He thought against demons and ghosts, he beat a snake god and theres an ending where he becomes a demon himself. Malenia doesn't "seem" like a sekiro boss, she IS a sekiro boss. Recycled form a cancelled dlc. She is literally female sekiro, probably a past wielder of the dragon rot curse, with miquella being her lord. A prosthetic hand with a katana instead of various gadgets, spreading dragon rot everytime she dies and gets reborn.

@@infinity002 maybe she is easy if it would actually be put into the game and not a mod. it took me 1hr to go trough phase 1 mostly cuz of the camera going to the skies or stupid interactions like posture recovery in my lighting attack. and the waterfoul parry has more precise timing that it would seem, I too tought I would just spam deflect and she would be dead but nah. it makes the inner bosses look like a joke

I always felt like Malenia was an unused fight (possibly Tomoe) from Sekiro DLC that never happened. Her fight feels like something straight out of Sekiro and unlike anything else in ER.

@@Jeffmetal42 There are thoughts that she might have been repurposed from possible the Lady Tomoe fight that *might* have been planned for the DLC (we get constant hints about her throughtout Sekiro and she was the one who trained Genichiro but we never fight her). You often find that certain boss fights will 'feel' like a fight in the next game throughout the series as either a prelude to that game or as something left over from that game that never made the cut. For example the Scarlet Rot Blossom attack could have simply been a big lightning dive with electricity crackling around Tomoe since it was her who 'mastered the lightning'.

@@MetricMelon You can tell by the way she hops and kinda floats around. Especially with the waterfowl dance. Her shadow clone attack in phase 2 is also pretty similar to what the true corrupted monk does in her fight.

@@christianholbrook2686 Yep 100%, there is no way the first fromsoft game to win GOTY wouldn't get a DLC, or at least was planned to get one especially after the sheer amount of buildup and foreshadowing for lady tomoe, the mix of Covid and Elden ring being so massive makes me think it was scrapped and everything they had made for it was used in Elden ring in one way or another, hence the birth of Malenia

i think people are too headstrong when it comes to trying out different strategies. I immediately saw how stupidly easy it is to stagger her so i used bhs and misericorde and quickly sent her back to her dead brother. ER doesn't have a single truly awesome boss fight. Sekiro has like 4. And DS3 has 2

FromSoftware really has to get it together and do a better job making bosses suited for their specific games. Elden Ring bosses were really shitty for the game. Melania would have been an amazing Sekiro boss. Maybe they should have saved some Elden Ring bosses for a potential Sekiro 2. Malakath, Godfrey, Radagon, Elden Beast- all would have been 100X better in Sekiro.

@@DerAykac That wouldn’t make sense for multiple reasons. Especially since this character would have been made before and during Sekiro’s making (it was made at the same time as ER). She’s the just a influenced by it. Like how after Bloodborne, DS3 had far more beast type and hunter fight style bosses like Sister Friede. Everyone used to say she’s a BB boss in a DS game. That doesn’t mean she’s literally a cut BB boss. People keep doing this(DoH is a DS boss).

@@simonealcazar816 I mean if anything BSB is a Bloodborne boss in Sekiro while Malenia is clearly a Sekiro boss in a game that has a lot more in common with Souls. The pacing of these fights feel extremely at odds with their respective games and there's quite a few examples of that across Fromsoftware titles.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised, a lot of moves in E:R (both boss attacks and ashes of war) are just recycled from other Fromsoft games including Sekrio Waterfowl Dance itself looks pretty similar to an art you get in Sekiro after I think beating Inner Genichiro

Found it, her Waterfowl animation is literally Spiral Cloud Passage, complete with the slashes all around your character effect and everything. This is also why the animation looks a little awkward for Waterfowl Dance as it's intended to be used on the ground.

shes still well suited for elden ring because of elden rings fast stamina recovery and delayed attacks, always giving you a chance to dodge and punish. but yes shes perfect for sekiro too

In sekiro she's perfect, but they ruined her fight in ER by giving her lifesteal and a second phase ON TOP of waterfowl. I think it should be either one or the other. (She would be perfect with a slightly nerfed waterfowl and no lifesteal)

Might I add, the previous Souls entries actually DID give bosses a cooldown; even the Orphan of Kos isn’t this aggressive, even in his 2nd phase. And it’s a boss I have managed to beat several times with no issues at all. Sorry, man, but I can’t excuse unfair design; FromSoft may be legends at their craft, but Elden is where I’m REALLY gonna be blunt about that. I don’t care if it won GOTY; I will call their bluff & keep commenting how shit their game design is here. If they had just stuck to a Sekiro DLC instead, and if we FINALLY got to see what Tomoe would’ve been like instead of leaving us to speculate, I wouldn’t be angry; until then, I am, and I’m never playing Elden or their other properties again if FromSoft is going to keep fucking it all up by putting the wrong bosses in the wrong games. Animation cancels, has a thrust attack that could be mikiri counterable. She could easily have been partially made in sekiro then moved over to Elden ring and remade. It’s a reasonable option

Agreed. But it angers me so much that FromSoft chose to make Elden & throw the Sekiro DLC in the trash, instead of working on what the latter would’ve been. Without the DLC, Sekiro as its base game feels incredibly empty & hollow; without additional story elements, FromSoft carelessly threw Tomoe away & repurposed her into the trash boss we ended up getting in Elden.

elden ring is more of a dark souls + sekiro child, if the combat was like serkiro it wouldnt fit the game.

She will step backwards 3 times before she does it. It is RNG though because she can do other moves after stepping back 3 times.
