In my own experience of owning Sekonda and Lorus watches I have found Lorus to be more accurate than any of my Sekonda watches.I really enjoy wearing field watches and have several in my collection from Lorus, Pulsar, Seiko and the Hamilton Khaki King. The Lorus field watch you have shown in this video is one of my favourite watches as well as the Lorus Titanium field watches which are really great value for money. I wear the Lorus Titanium field watches the most tbh because of them being so light and comfortable on the wrist that you hardly know you are wearing a watch. All have 100M water resistance except for my Hamilton Khaki King which is 50M. For really rugged wear I wear a Casio G-Shock 5610 which is another beast of a watch altogether with it having solar power and radio controlled and 200M water resistance. A good review though but the winner for me is the Lorus every time regarding these two watches.

The Lorus is a lovely little watch, I like that Sekonda too though. You could include whether or not the seconds hand hits the markers in reviews. Enjoyed your video, thanks, all the best

There are many things that I could Include & these videos could go on for hours! So some of the more obvious things that the viewer can easily see for themselves I tend to leave out. These "head to head" video's are more as a bit of fun than serious reviews as so much of it is subjective.😊

Years ago, I had a cheap Lorus field watch. I'd wear it on my belt loop to stop the sun burn marks on my arms. As a result, it went through the washer and dryer about 30 times before the glass broke. Even after that, it went through another 20 or 30 times and finally gave up. Amazing build quality for such a cheap watch. Everyone talk about the Hamilton Khaki Field watches, you could have scores more of these, and they'd let you down far less.
@somewhereintimewatchreviews
Almost as tough as a G shock! Definitely great value for money. I am a big fan of Hamilton....but! Their field watches do seem a bit fragile with poor water resistance. The last one I had was the Khaki King, really nice watch, but I never felt confident in using it for its intended purpose.

@@somewhereintimewatchreviews exactly. I'm a geologist and work in the bush all year round. I've been in minus 20 in Finland and Sweden, and more typically in 40C plus day in day out in Burkina Faso and Mali. Cheap, but durable quartz watches are the best. If / when it breaks, it's not a big issue. I'm now wearing a Seiko 5 and it's not let me down, but if it breaks, I'd have to go on break to get it fixed. If the battery runs out of my quartz watches, I can buy a new one anywhere
@richardtomlinson2063
@richardtomlinson2063 Год назад
Just to add, I'm slowly building a watch collection, but a cheap sacrificial watch is what I wear 90% of the time when at work.
@somewhereintimewatchreviews
There's a lot to be said for quartz powered watches they definitely have their place in any collection. I know the "purists" dismiss them, but it's them that are missing out on some great watches. My own collection has both mechanical and quartz and actually an equal split too.
@somewhereintimewatchreviews
My choice of work watch is a G shock, I'm not in the extremes of the environment that you are in but I am in a work environment where any watch that I wear is going to take some pretty harsh knocks etc. There's no way I would wear an automatic and expect it to survive. Quartz all the way for that.

Yes I think the Lorus was the right one to win this one its just overall better made & finished, difficult to really be too picky at this end of the price scale though i had to keep telling myself they were only £20 😆 You're right about the crown on the Sekonda though its done really well. Great head to head and Sekonda has a very rich history, but yeah just a cheap high street brand, which is a shame but hey if it pays the bills. But that is not saying they have some nicely designed watches out there, one of my earlier watches I loved was a Sekonda. I'd take the Lorus but do prefer the size of the Sekonda, a very good head to head and nice to see something different mate nice job
@somewhereintimewatchreviews

Thanks Troy. I agree Sekonda do have some decent watches but like you I would take the Lorus its just made better. The sizing of the Lorus could put some people off its about as small as I would feel comfortable wearing.

I have the Lorus it fits my 6 1/2” wrist perfectly. I love the lume and the fact that it has a Seiko movement says it all. Mine loses 1 sec. per month, which is remarkable for a watch at this price.

I have both of these, the Lorus is more accurate, has survived two accidental 40 degree cycles thru the washing machine and is more compact on the wrist when worn with motorcycle jacket and gloves. The Sekonda is easier to set, feels lighter in weight and the glass is recessed below the case, two years of use, no scratches on the glass.

Fantastic! Great categories, I am hoping to do my San Martin v pagani soon and answer the question I attempted in my first video although this time both watches homage the same. The winner is obvious but the question still remains is San Martin worth 300 bucks more……this has helped me to know what cats to use, and I agree with your assessment. I've got them both, personally I prefer the Sekonda. It fits well on my wrist, looks good, decent build quality apart from the strap (just change it asap) and it's one of my favourite watches of all I own. (I own a good fair few that are many multiple times it's price) The Loris is ok, but too small, too cluttered and only comes into its own in the dark.
@somewhereintimewatchreviews
The Sekonda is a tad too big imo and I would have liked the Lorus to be at least 39mm. But either way both good watches in their own right. Thanks for watching.

@@somewhereintimewatchreviews my wrist is 8inches, so for me the Sekonda fits perfectly. 40mm and above I'm ok with, anything below that starts to look like a toy on my wrist :)
@somewhereintimewatchreviews
Ah that makes perfect sense. My wrist is 7¾" so can see why you would gravitate towards the Sekonda. I do have some 36mm watches in the collection & I find that with smaller watches on a larger wrist can be carried off with the right strap/bracelet choice sometimes that can make a lot of difference. But like you my sweet spot is above 40mm up to a max of about 44mm. Unless it's a G shock of course 😆

One of my daughters has the Lorus whose lume is amazing, but the watch is too small to be read at a glance and its dial is cluttered. The Sekonda's after-sales / customer service is excellent, its dial clean and easy to read because it's larger. Accuracy of both watches is similar. I prefer the Sekonda for its lovely crown, although its latest nylon strap is appalling. Sekonda also is a British watch company no longer Russian. Off-topic somewhat, the Lorus green dial 7S26 automatic actually is a rebranded Seiko 5. Nice enjoyable video.

At the end of the day get what you want and suits you.

The Sekonda looks better to my eyes, and the size is much better. Shame it is so cheaply made. Don't care for the look of the dial on the Lorus, probably looks like that for the lume. Too much writing on the dial as well, plus way too small unfortunately. Great video, thanks

Anyone who makes a 42mm field watch does not really understand the purpose of a field watch. A field watch is designed to slip under a field jacket and field shirt sleeve and should not be more than 38mm.
@Domain_Man1
@Domain_Man1 Год назад
They aren't Pilot watches since they lack the correct design elements eg: 1. Large legible dial 2. At least a 39 mm size, most are 43mm plus 3. Calculation markings (are not necessary anymore)
@somewhereintimewatchreviews
Well the Sekonda meets those criteria! (If you got that far into the video!) But I don't really think that in the current times is as important to pigeon hole a design as there's quite a few brands that mix & match styles giving the best of more than one design. As always these comparisons are just my take on things, the opinion of one guy & should be taken with a grain of salt & not too seriously. 😊

@somewhereintimewatchreviews 8 месяцев назад
A bit of a blanket statement. Sure, Sekonda do have some not so great offerings, but then so do Lorus, Seiko affiliated or not. Lorus use Seiko movements. Sekonda uses Miyota (Citizen), so either way, both brands use reliable movements. The rest is only skin deep, and they are much of a muchness as far as "quality" goes. Both brands use hollow/folded bracelets, hollow end links, mineral crystal, and in some cases, plated cases. There's not that much to choose between them really.
