After cured it will not rub off on your clothing

Briwax has toluene as a solvent which dries much quicker than the xylene base solvents most waxes use. The solvent evaporates in just a few minutes. You can usually start buffing right away if you are waxing anything larger than just a sample. If you are waxing a piece of furniture, when you finish waxing go back to the part you started with and start buffing there.

Sorry about that. That is something out of my hands. I tried to get 10 species of varied woods that people may find similar to what they are dealing with. If you have suggestions about species that are absent from my selection I'd be interested to hear. I'm in the Southeastern US (Atlanta, GA) and I operate a custom furniture workshop, so I have lots of scraps laying around but perhaps not what you need to see depending on where in the world you are.

Sorry for the late reply. If your Antique Rosewood is reddish I would test an inconspicuous spot using Teak Briwax.

If they have a Briwax finish you don't need to do anything to prep the surface. The new wax will melt into the old wax. If there is any dirt or grime that needs removing I would just use a gentle solvent like mineral spirits or just warm soapy water prior to waxing them.

Smooth surfaces will hold very little wax and hence take very little color. Given that this is an inexact science you should at least test Briwax in an inconspicuous spot first before applying to entire surface. @@CarmellaNYC Maybe dark brown or tudor brown Briwax. And if you like browner than try Ebony. Did you see the pictures of Briwax applied to shiny oak cabinets on my Facebook post? Sure it can. It is OK on any fully cured finish. A lot of the Scandinavian style teak furniture is typically done with a low sheen oil finish. Wax is perfect over that type of finish. The lower the sheen the more impact the wax will have on the color. Test an inconspicuous spot first

Briwax won't change the color on lacquered brass at all. The finish is so smooth and glossy it won't hold and wax. It will just buff off. Wax only fills the pores, scratches and texture of the surface where it hardens and buffs to a shine. Lacquered brass just won't hold any wax and hence no color. It might not apply in this case but when I have bright shiny lacquered brass furniture handles the need toning down, I strip the lacquer off with acetone and darken them with a brass darkening solution. Then I use Briwax metal polish to polish to the exact brightness I'm looking for.

Liiming wax

Briwax isn't promoted as food safe. There are 4 components in the can, beeswax, carnauba wax, pigments and solvent to keep it in paste form so you can apply it. The solvent evaporates leaving just the other 3 parts. The waxes are natural products but I can't be certain about the colorants. In any case waxes aren't the most waterproof of finishes and wouldn't last very long in a wet environment.

That species isn't on my short list of samples to make as I never heard of that before. So I Googled it and have to point out to you that wax finishes are not suitable for exterior use. If you intend to use treated timber in a protected environment just sample the finish first. I'm guessing that the pine or reclaimed pine boards would be your best initial guide.

It's for indoors and it's hardwood not softwood sorry. Its been pre treated before I even bought it, I'm using it In my living area its the vocal point we're my TV is on the wood. The wife just can't make her mind up.

I lot of people like he look of Tudor on the light golden oak kitchen cabinets. It is by far the most popular color for this application.

I am going to try the tudor brown and the liming wax by Briwax and see what I like more on our cabinets. I was wondering if both products are safe for using in high touch areas where we will be eating? Are they safe once they are dry? Thank you so much.

@@ericapeters how did they turn out. Looking at either tudor brown or dark brown. Do you have a before and after pic?

A lot of people are using Tudor on lighter yellowish oak kitchen cabinets.

It depends on what color you hope to achieve. Sheesham is an Indian Rosewood so look at the mahogany samples and that will give you the closest results I think
