We started to shout for him to give her star a kiss, and we just went nuts when he did. Her sister was just amazing and so humble. She was the only one that came to our side...the neglected and loud side, hahaha.
This is perfect. I cried all the way through and cried even harder when they revealed the star. I LOVE Selena as a Black/African American girl that doesn't understand Spanish but I sure can sing her songs like I do. I appreciate the quintanilla family for working so hard to continue her legacy. She was truly universal and I appreciate her so much.This star shall be here forever and I just know for a fact that she is smiling big. 🌹

We sure did, hahaha. We were singing her songs and one funny girl kept shouting ANYTHING FOR SALINAS. It was such an amazing night. Suzette made it 10x better. She was the only one that came to our side and shared the little star plaque with us.

Watching this made me so proud as a Mexican American woman from San Antonio, I was fortunate to perform on the same stages here locally. Selena has been my mentor for 25yrs. I got the chance to be apart of Axiom productions for the movie Selena as a roses vendor in Alamo scene,ate dinner with Director Nava in front of me & the cast. She deserved this Star 22yrs ago, now I have my own little Selena who was born on April 16th Selena's birthday named Symphony..Selena your my inspiration & you have your biggest Star already in Heaven, we just wanted one down here for you⚘⚘
That speech from Eva was so moving and it made me so emotional!! Selena truly did represent us Mexican Americans! Even Suzette was trying hard not to cry during her speech😢
Guess I'm not the only one who thinks that the Quintanilla Family acts like Selena never loved or married Chris Perez. The only Quintanilla family members that seem likable are Mrs Quintanilla and Selena. I like Chris Perez - Selena married well.

Not on Mexican Americans are Inspired by Selena, I’m black and I love Selena more then anything. I’m soooo happy that she has a star. It’s about time. Selena deserves this and so does her family. I’m happy she’s still alive in everyone’s memory. She’s such a talented singer, she inspired me to sing, and to keep rising. Selena is gone, but she’s never forgotten🌹💜🎤

I was at this ceremony and I got there super early at 10.And let me tell you so many emotions were running through me that day. I was hungry and tired but the icing on the cake was when I was standing near the front as close as I could to the ceremony, and Suzzette walked in front of us holding Selena's plaque and we all went crazy and I actually got to touch Suzzette. This day was amazing and exhilarating and it's a day I was proud to be a part of 😍😍🌹🌹🎤🎤💋💋⭐️⭐️
Ana Johnson can you tell us what Chris was doing that had the crowd go so crazy towards the end there? Lol poor Suzette was so enamored with the 🌟 she didn't have time for the fans I guess, which Selena would have been among them most of the ceremony 😎
Dusk Dawn I beg to differ. I was there as well and let me tell you: the only person that even went to our side, the loud yet ignored side, was Suzette. She was so nice and humble and my mom got to hold her hand while she let the fans take pictures of her and the plaque. We yelled so loud for Chris and A.B. to come, but they didn't even glance at us. We went to the extent of singing Como la Flor multiple times and nothing. This funny girl kept yelling the famous ANYTHING FOR SALINAS phrase.

Thank you for clearing that up and correcting my assumption. It just seems like Suzette was focused on the VIPs rather than the fans and concerned with the pictures in front of the 🌟. 🤔
Dusk Dawn It's okay, and I think you were asking Ana but I butted in to your conversation. I got to the event at around 5 PM and while I didn't get a great view of the star, I was able to see Suzette while she was standing next to the speakers. And she actually went to all sides where fans were.
I know that Selena is looking down from heaven, and is so touched by her achievements. I remember seeing a video of her getting her first ever gold record, and she cried so hard, and you could see how much it touched her even then. I grew up in California, and grew up with her music. I will never forget the day she was taken away from us. It hurt me so much to my core, and still hurts me today. Selena will never be forgotten, and her memory will shine down on us for eternity.
I think the same, i hope they have put the flowers in the same place. Although Chris is not very expressive, but that gesture says more than a thousand words.
Chris is a example of what a husband should be. He loved Selena with all that he had/has, He made sure that her happiness came first because her happiness was his too. He could never say no to her lol. And when she had her low moments, Even though he had no idea how to help her, He was there holding her until she calm down. Selena was everything to him because She taught Chris to love and be there in the moment. And after 26 years married again (then divorced) but with two amazing kids Chris is on top of the world with his music and living life for himself and his girl.
A star is perfect symbol of Selena. Even when a star is no longer burning, its light can still shine for light years, for all of us to still admire. That is Selena. I'm so happy for her and her family. What an amazing moment and is truly deserved.

What they use for the Hollywood Star is her stage name which was “Selena Quintanilla”. I know the family personally I’m from LJ Texas, and Selena’s Dad was not in charge of Selena’s star, it was Suzette. There is more to him that meets the eye, he’s a very kind and humble person, very private as well.
wasn't her stage just name Selena ?🤔 it was Selena y Los Dinos not Selena Quintanilla y Los Dinos. Even all her albums just have "Selena". Im sure im not the only one who thinks that of him when🤷🏻♀️ anyways..as a selena fan. Im beyond proud of her and im sure shes smiling down from heaven❤
I was wondering the same. I'm a musician and when you are known as a name, they don't always count the "married" name. In this case, her last name was Perez and you took the words right out of my mouth!
I've never seen a ceremony so beautiful and meaningful, in which every second was special. The Quintanilla's are unique. And Chris just ment so much for the people that night.
I could tell his was a very hard time for all of them.. especially Chris. I know he will always love her and it will never get easier.. I love you Selena!! We miss you.. It always hits home.

Finally! SELENA deserves this star because of how amazing her work is. This is not only huge for Selena but for all of us latinos. It shows that us latinos can be very successful despite what any ignorant people want to say about us not being able to make it big. What's amazing is she is loved world wide and is cherished by so many fans outside of the spanish community with the majority of her music being sung in spanish. Selena was able to get all this success with out having to be a sell out unlike other artists. She stayed true to her self and her style. Selena was original. NOW moving on to the star itself. You know damn well her annoying ass father was behind the idea of adding Quintanilla to Selena's name instead of simply SELENA which is what she was professionally known as. If they were going to add Quintanilla they should have added Perez because she was indeed married to Chris Perez who was apart of her band as well. That was not right of them at all. That seemed like a petty move on their part. Also am i the only one who noticed when they introduced Chris perez at the 23:27 mark AB and his soon gave chris a dirty look? Loved when they cheered Chris on at the 30:56 mark.
HotLikeFire92 first of all I know the family and they are very kind and humble people. Selena’s Dad was not in charge of the Star, it was Suzette who was in charge along with the people who contacted her about it. You have to understand that Chris did remarry and have kids, these years he distanced himself from the family. He divorced years ago right after his book released. But Mr.Q is a person who doesn’t like to show his emotions, that’s why he wears the glasses, he told me and my family that after Selena’s death, his family was so distraught that he felt he had to be their rock. He also briefly mentioned that he has no hard feelings towards Chris.
WOW!! I Remember being 9-10 listening to her music and love watching her interviews she was soo..bubbly full of life always happy. She's was such an inspiration!(still is) I also remember clearly listening to the radio when they broke the news that she was killed..and couldn't believe it I was in shock even as a child I was so heartbroken and cried the entire day😢..It's so amazing to see her well deserved starr!!!🌟🌠
How amazing! I was under the impression that she was already on the walk of fame! Love her to death. Remember seeing the movie as a kid and it bringing me to tears, even today. My husband and I both will listen to her nonstop.

I've watched this before but the second time around shows just how inconsiderate the Quintanilla family really are. Chris really shows the love he still has for Selena on this day along with many other days Selena is recognized. I admire Chris Perez so much for all the love and respect he still shows Selenas memory and I have no doubt he always will ubtil he reunites with Selena again one day. He shows so much respect at every occasion that he always comes along. Selena would be so proud of the man she trust and loved so much. I say that because he shined so bright. I cried watching this. As someone who grew up in the hood of Ohio, not of mexican descent, their music & story reached me! It introduced me to a whole new world! I even learned to speak spanish.

From Childhood till I was a teenager growing up in SATX, with family in HTown, nothing but great memories of her. Coca Cola commercials and all. Used to watch Tejano Country after Walker, Texas Ranger, then the news would go on. From Univision to Telemundo to Galavision, all the way to local TV, She was one of my First 5 female singer crushes. Now 10. One of those rare Angels On Earth. Love You Eternally. jody petrella I didn’t see the flowers when I got there but it makes sense what you’re saying. I was crying the whole time. I drove around the area and when I saw how many people actually went and how a lot of them where dressed like her that’s when it hit me and I started to cried like a kid 😩
