This actress have a great voice... Also this is my favorite version of Selina Kyle; she is funny, elegant, sexy and classy but also badass when need be. And the best part is that she is not a criminal; she have somewhat tragic backstory but she won't allow it to define her; she don't blame other people for her tough luck and she won't become a criminal because of it - instead she try to help other woman and she try to catch Jack the Ripper on her own. And that make her also a little bit foolish and overconfident and that gives her much needed, believable character flaw. And think this is the way, so called "strong female characters" should be written
0:07-I love this bit here where you can see Selina's skirt fall down from where she was holding it up before she lifted her umbrella. Nice attention to detail here.
Before seeing this movie, I had heard that Grey Griffin was a singer as well as an voice actress yet I had never heard her sing. She is really good, I think that I might have to buy one of her CD's in the near future.
@@naotoonfuru300gail's version is a very nice cover of an original 1910s dance band novelty song, mostly used for revue shows, its most popular version is billy murray's 1918 rendition
Closer to 30. The Jack the Ripper murders were in 1888. This movie is implied to have taken place after Jack committed murder in London and that he fled to Gotham. This song is from 1918.
It’s Chicago in 1893. Right down to the World’s Fair and the serial killer. Although the serial killer in this movie seems to be based more on Jack the Ripper than H. H. Holmes.
Jack the Ripper began his spree in late 1888 (I believe August), so likely the movie would be set around then. Although the song was recorded in 1918, so it's hard to say, but more often than not, movies/shows intentionally don't get to specific so that they can get away with doing less intense research for the fashion/music/general society structure for the time and most people won't notice any small inaccuracies in dress or speech.
