I can't believe how long ago this was. Greetings. I'm "cholo #2". Recently Corpus Christi had the 1st Fiesta De LA Flor and somehow the local newspaper tracked me down. (I'd been off the grid for almost 10yrs). I was doing theater in Dallas at the time when I was cast and was a great experience. So lucky to be a part of a memorable scene in a major Hollywood motion picture. Now if we can get Warner Bros to release a Blu Ray that includes appox 10 minutes of a scene cut out where we, as the cholos, drove down the highway ad libbing about " stuff". Pretty funny...if memory serves me right.
+Frank Mendez That's awesome! I just read the article by CC Caller Times about you. I'm from Laredo but I have some relatives in the Corpus Christi area, and we also tend to visit the city during winter and summer vacations. We actually stayed at the Motel 6 on Lantana Street back in June! You and your "buddy" have provided laughs for nearly twenty years for countless Chicanos. :)
+Frank Mendez awesome scene dude! lol it's amazing how many great actors there are, such iconic scenes (like this one) by actors who, honestly, the audience usually doesn't know by name.... thank you, for your work on one of the best, funniest scenes in the movie....
Right, also she did amazing job.Nobody can play Selena better, some fools write overhere that JLO owe Selena... That is B.S. she also love Selena, she was Jennifer mentor she said. That's true !
Remy O @@@@@ cause, those guys in movie are ''cholo '' their spanish is '' different '' haha ha..............................Salinas was name mexican president,actually................ha ha. One cholo is here,go up and his name is FRANK MENDEZ. I think he can explain to you the name '' SALINAS '' better than me,or someone else overehere ? ! ? He's driver that car in movie !!!!! ?????
since I saw this movie as a kid "anything for Salinas" has been my respond to anyone asking or needing help. I do that shit now in the army and I've met people that would hear me and respond with "it is Salinas!!" its awesome
"You kiddin me...This bumper.....This bumper is gonna go on the wall of my garage carnal...we gonna put a little sign under it...it's gonna say:This bumper was pulled of by the bus of SALINAS" HAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHAH
I love this movie. I love Mexican people. Most beautiful spirit people I've ever met. Hard workers and very family oriented. Selena was definitely a legend for her generation. Rip..
Yesss. I'm African American and I have always loved mexican people. Not only the women but the culture as well. I love how they are always tight together as a whole family, they get along and they are always there for each other. I first saw this movie in Spanish class and I loved this scene. " anything for seleeennaass" I love this scene too.
Kathy Rene thank you.. I think we are all that you said. I live here in México and it's sad that for a Bad goberment we are poor, But that it's part of the reason we are hard workers. we give all for another one and I'm thankfull for the people like you
Aww.. I'm glad his family will always have this memory of him.. it was honestly the funniest part of this movie.. I used to rewind to keep on replaying this part.. RIP young man.. u left me a good childhood memory ❤️
He rode back to the hood, car all messed up his homies like "aye what happened" he had the biggest smile on his face like "I just helped the Selena's " 😭🤣🤣💕
My Mom loves this scene. The Cholo's remind her of this group of Cholo's back in Cali who saved her from her abusive first husband, they were riding by in blackberry low-rider with detailing.
I am never really amused by these types of movies but the part where the dad says, "Who's that laughing? Is that Selena?", makes me laugh. Jenifer did a good job portraying Selena's humor in this movie!
Fun fact! Growing up watching this movie I thought she was Selena. But how could that be if this was in remembrance of her. Right? Lol I was a kid. I love this movie then, today and always! Selena Vive!
Hahaha I could never get over this part "WHO'S LAUGHING?, IS THAT SELENA?? " she'll be cherished in everyone's heart even tho she was a year before my time I fell in love with her and probably for the same reason like everyone else did. The one and only Selena
(Selena)"I can't believe this Son" what were you thinking? (Abraham) "I CANT BELIEVE THIS SON"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? "WHERE ARE YOU" WHO IS THAT LAUGHING IS THAT SELENA 😂🤣😂
This was such a well written biopic. Props to Gregory Nava. They really "show" and don't tell. This is such a unique and hilarious way to show how Selena's fanbase was growing....and it also establishes the silliness and the closeness she shared with her siblings. It's a biopic that is accurate to reality...but it doesn't feel forced or rushed. I feel sad that we couldn't give the same biopic to Freddie Mercury.
I couldn't imagine anybody else playing Selena. Jlo may not be the best "singer" as she is entertainer but she sure as hell can act. I feel like the reason this movie is so still so successful is the producers really made sure to show the rise and fall of the singer rather than doing what a lot of biopics do showing nonsense.
@@anthony9013 I saw the Netflix series. I think it's better than the movie in the way it represents her life story, but I still prefer Jennifer Lopez over Christian Serratos's portrayal.
It’s his own fault! AB clearly wasn’t a good enough driver OR just for his DL. He protested that he didn’t wanna drive he bus alone but Abraham still forced him.
Selena was so young. Imagine if she were still alive today in her upper 40s. What a great singer. She and her family lived out their dreams. However, it went too fast.
When I was little and I watched this and heard him say Salinas I thought my city was famous since we're known for Mexican people and cholos like the ones they showed
I think this 'Salinas' name is a play on how her name was pronounced Seléna here in Mexico (2 es' sounding the same), but changed to Salinas so people back in Mexico didn't feel they were getting made fun of.
I loved this scene... the first part that had me LMBO was when the guy said "REWIND"! I was done! 😂😛🤣 And the of course the "Anything for Selenas"!! 😂😛🤣
I had never heard of Selena and if broke my heart. I listened to her music and fell in love with her and her talent. She is now on my play list which came as a surprise to my Hispanic friends. They didn't expect a black senior to know anything about her.
