Suzette is not one to be played with. There are some Latinas you do not want to try. Like Michael Corleone once said “when they come at you they target what you most love.”
Yes and she was very jealous of Selena and her reason for ending Selena's life was if she couldn't have her nobody else could. Yolanda was a crazy fan who had posters of Selena all over her house.
Yeah in the book Chris said she always gave Yolanda benefit of the doubt, like after this I think she still kept communicating with her I forgot if she kept her in the business but she didn’t drop the relationship right then abs there if I remember correctly
@ J. C. It wasn’t empathy. Selena was the type of kind hearted person who trusted very easily and wanted to believe the best in people. She genuinely thought Yolanda was a true friend and was in utter disbelieve when her true colors were shown.
selena death was a wake up call to every celebrity.... never let someone work for you without doing background checks... and make sure you always be protected.
Abraham should've never hired Yolanda to be the president of selena's fan club and selena should've never trusted Yolanda with everything she had including her house and buisness.
Ugghhh Yolanda was a nurse with no criminal record. So how would a background check help ? She probably even had good credit and knew how to make tacos.
Anyone but Yolanda or jealous people like her who would take away the very person who is beloved by millions like selena who is still beloved and missed by all who adore her.
Good points all of you guys but remember this was the early 90s when the internet and technology wasn't as advanced it was today. It was hard to do a background check on people especially if they committed a crime and settled out of courts like she did for a previous employer prior to working for the Quintanilla's.
Poor Selena made a huge mistake going into the motel room with Yolanda. I can’t imagine what was going thru her mind as she ran to the motel office. It’s amazing the strength she still had after running and losing so much blood to name this witch and the room number before she closed her eyes one last time. 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
But the fact that Chris offered to go with her to pick up Yolanda and Selena still said no😭 (not saying that it’s Chris’ fault that he didn’t keep insisting)
@@emmakirby2399 Selena thought they were friends and she probably didn't think Yolanda would end up shooting and killing her she just wanted the financial records for tax purposes, when people like Yolanda lose control they do anything to get it back unfortunately in this situation it had deadly consequences
Selena should have had 24 hours around the clock protection bodyguards and police officers this reminds me of Christina Grimmie when she was killed by a crazed fan at a nightclub
The biggest mistake that I can honestly say was that the family should have got the police involved in this whole situation if they would have done that I can guarantee you Selena will still be alive today.
That’s what’s weird to me, even in the book she met with Yolanda the night before with Chris and they still didn’t contact the cops after what happened that night??? I truly wonder why they didn’t
@@2Kewl4Ya101 what I think it was was that they thought they can handle the situation by themselves without getting the police involved (which was a very big mistake) they should have gotten the police involved the moment they discovered about Yolanda stealing from the fan club. The person who I blame the most in this whole situation is her parents because it's one thing to shield and protect your kids from danger but what parents fail to understand is that they cannot protect your kids forever because they themselves will not be on this Earth forever they tend to forget that parents die before the children and it's only the children who has to pick up where they left off see the thing is if you're not giving your child the proper knowledge and education on certain situations then it's going to be hard for the child to survive or acknowledge that danger in front of them which can do more harm than actual good and that's exactly what happened with Selena because she was too naive to see Yolanda for who she really is.
What I appreciate about the series is that they got actors that actually looked the part instead of settling for less. In the movie, the actress playing Yolanda looked middle age even though Yolanda was in her thirties at the time.
Yolanda said she didn’t kill Selena. It was an accident and her conscience is clear. WTF!!! If I accidentally shot my best friend, I would feel guilty for the rest of my life. Any normal human being would feel guilty.
Yolanda ain’t normal. Trying to reason with crazy never works. Selena made the mistake of trusting Yolanda and giving her too many chances. A financial scandal like that could have derailed Selena’s career. Yolanda had no experience to be running the day to day operations. Yolanda should have been replaced with an experienced business manager/accountant responsible for handling just the boutiques finances. Selena’s mind was on the music and not on the business and at 24 yrs old had little to no experience with people outside her bubble, having business handled by Abraham anytime things went wrong. The doctor friend of Selena’s told Selena don’t trust Yolanda. The doctor from Monterey saw something in Yolanda’s behavior that alerted him to warn Selena. I don’t think Selena had some big secret, but I do think Selena was naive and had not encountered anyone like Yolanda before.
@Marissa Lopes Selena created a bond with a stranger. She thought she knew Yolanda. Yolanda was just money hungry. And the only way she could cause hurt into the world... Was to kill Selena.
The father is just as money hungry. His daughter hadn't passed away that long before making movie deals and getting honored at award shows. It was him $$, power, fame he just used her to get out of his way. Who is eating off of Selena Legacy. Not Yolanda try the father.
@Ashley Smith Well according to her fake sob story, the shooting was an “accident” and she bought the gun to “kill herself”. After 27 years, she still hasn’t taken accountability.
Had Abraham went to the police like he said he would, maybe Selena would still be alive today. This is such a tragedy and such a shame but at the same time it teaches us a very valuable lesson or lessons. Not everybody is your friend, don’t mix personal friend life with work life and three to not ignore red flags. And also let me not forget when you are going to confront a toxic narcissist you should never do so alone
@alexandramateo4444 I believe he was planning to. But Selena, wanted to be independent, too it upon herself to confront Yolanda, especially after she lied about the whole rape incident.
Well when somebody is dead, they’re no longer hurt. But the people who loved and cherished the individual will be deeply hurt forever and those painful scars will never heal.
Lupe Ontiveros (who portrayed Yolanda Saldivar in the 1997 film) was also good in the role. She once said she took the role because she wanted to take on something different from playing a maid in many TV shows and films prior to being Yolanda. This current portrayer looks so convincing.
@@amylee8969it isn't the actresses fault that she had to play such a horrible person it's the real Yolanda that we all are angry with she's the one who took away such an incredible person such as Selena.
@@AshleySmith84-ie4ofThat's what Lupe said to one person who was harshly criticizing her; Lupe assured the critic that she felt the same way about the real Yolanda as they did
That’s true sibling love. We need more of that in todays world. Too many people leaving their own family out to dry to chase after something they think Is better.
This was probably Yolanda’s breaking point/ tipping point, this was probably so overwhelming for her. It’s when she decided to take drastic measures, honestly they shouldn’t have even confronted her infront of Selena knowing how kind, compassionate, sympathetic, & naive Selena was, She definitely played the “victim” role well tho
@@amylee8969Yolanda not only hurt Selena's family when she murdered Selena she hurt Selena's fans who are still grieving her loss and who would never forgive her for taking her away it's bad enough she's up for parole sometime next year
I think they should have left Selena out of the whole thing, given her close relationship with Yolanda, her career, her youth and her naivety. They had all the evidence they needed imo. They should have just called the police, filed a report and a restraining order and fired her with police supervision or over the phone whatever but it didn't have to go down the way it did. Smh.
She was also eager to have a good friend since she had very few friends as she was always moving and touring. Her family and Chris were her only “friends” until Yolanda came along.
I always felt that Mr. Quintanilla was just being plain cheap, when Selena needed proper promotion. He should've gone to a reputable Celebrity agency to handle Selena's fan clubs, and fan merchandising. As well as the boutiques, hiring experienced people who knew about taking charge and running speciality retail. Abraham would've been happy in the long run, Selena knowing her love and joy of the boutiques were in good hands, as well as the fan clubs, and Selena would've been spending more of her time bringing more joy through her music today.
@Trevon Martin I didn’t either. I was only 4 years old at the time of her death in 1995 and around 9 when I first saw the movie and learned about her story.
I’ve always been told that not every person you meet is going to be your friend. Never mix friendship with business because it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
Selena and the Quintanilla family should have blame themselves. They had hired Yolanda Saldivar to manage the fan club, but without doing a background check. Even if that person may not have a criminal history (no felonies, no misdemeanors), you still need to do a background check. They did not found out a few years later that Yolanda had money problems with a previous employer because it was settled out of court.
Honestly that is the biggest fact there. I keep looking over how Yolanda got in the Selena circle and its always mentioned it was the dad allowing her to start the fan club thinking nothing was gonna happen.
I don’t disagree, but it was a very different time back then. Situations like this are learning lessons and ultimately the reason employers have such strict hiring processes now.
@@BFFFL1492 That’s exactly what I said. The situation with Selena taught me to always have someone with me when confronting someone about something as serious as money. Just like Aaliyah’s situation taught me to be patient and trust my gut instinct 🥺
If Abraham had just gone to the freaking police station or called the cops by grabbing the phone from the office then Selena would still be here!!!!! I'm not trying to make him feel guilty but i'm just saying she should have been arrested right then and there. He didn't need to just tell her to leave and never ever come back!!!! (0:51 - 1:12 - 1:16 - 1:19 - 1:21)
people in these comments saying “Chris should’ve did” this and “her father should’ve did” that and it’s like bruh, the situation played out the way it was supposed. no one was supposed to go with her, she wasn’t supposed to have “common sense” and not go to that room. once you let that sink in there would be no “shoulda, coulda, woulda” responses. rest in paradise to the woman who created a movement after her passing, people were and still are moved and fueled by her music. which is i feel the reason everything happened the way it did.
From what I heard and listened to others who were around her tired to warn her. Told her to watch out for her as well don’t be alone with her. The choice was always hers. But I don’t agree she shouldn’t died. This was all a mistake!
@@christinabellerose2290 i am saying exactly that, God controls all. our fates have already been decided. so instead of thinkin what could’ve been different and what could’ve been done different we should come to terms with there being a bigger plan in motion that we can’t see. everything was supposed to happen the way it happened. some people’s journeys and time on earth are shorter than others but those lives serve a purpose. their purpose was fulfilled they are called home. period
On the other hand, had she been accompanied to the hotel, Yolanda may have gunned down 2 people instead of one that day. In Yolanda's frame of mind, it was possible..
They should have just gone to the police and called it a day. Being too nice gets you nowhere. Yolanda was given too many chances by her last job and in this situation. Those checks were enough to involve the authorities. Yolanda had shown Selena the gun after this meeting and weeks before shooting her. It seems like the only person who knew about the gun besides Selena was Chris. Timing is everything. If you are showing me this gun right after we confront you letting you know your job is on the line and we might take this to the police I'm reading between the lines. You never shown me a gun before but this specific time you do?? Automatically I'm taking it as a threat. I would never meet up with you alone again, straight to the authorities I'm going after that. I know she was playing along to get her stuff back but being shown the gun was the time to throw in the towel. I would also tell everyone in my family to stay clear of her for their safety.
🦅💁🏻♂️0:33 Would you imagine if those check copies are the real deal after 27 years ago, and were used as props for this scene from the time Selena was with us? That would be a strong possibility after preserving their condition after a long time. Anything is possible
I just wonder why they didn’t call the cops that day, was it because they didn’t own Selena’s boutique? They know she’s very nice a trusting sometimes you gotta do it for someone else
Abraham put pressure on Selena to either keep her or fire her. ummm, Señor, you allowed this woman to come in and work. You answered her desperate calls, you gave her and opportunity soo you should have fired her in the first place. You put Selena in danger that fatal day
I find myself increasingly annoyed and Suzette was correct in taking charge. Another point that darn near set me off, is Yolanda trying to set herself as the victim. "Oh my best friend," bs...
Can you make a edit of the Selena Movie Astrodome Clips with Selena:The Series Astrodome Clips but put the performances in chronological order like the real Astrodome show.
It’s sad because her cousin and her father warned her about Yolanda. On March 26th her cousin Debra called her saying “be careful Yolanda doesn’t sound right she’s using excuses to get you alone whatever you do don’t meet her alone and Selena said oh why do you think she’s gonna kill me, her bodyguard also told her their was a shrine of her in Yolandas house and she didn’t believe them so we can’t say Selena wasn’t warned even her father told her she was so young and naive it’s not her fault it’s Yolandas but this is why you should listen to your parents and the people around you because her cousin and people working at the boutique told her about Yolanda
