Well I watched on your recommendation, great show! I've never pumped past what a 61 can reach straight up. I was never a fan of stairs😂. It always seemed to be my luck that the lift was broken when I showed up😢. I remember an old timer telling me he preferred a 28m with a one ended hose over any big boom. After years on 50 to 60m booms I now know what he meant. Dont miss those tall buildings at all, had my fun with mini placers mostly. Glad you told me about this one, I learned quite a lot. ✌️

That’s awesome Jon!!! Yes, this RS850 setup is far more user-friendly/efficient (for several reasons) than anything else in the market which we’ve seen/used.
2nd time re-watching as I am thinking of getting one of these systems in a year or two. I have to watch this video at least another two times before I think I've truly wrapped my brain around it. And I know I haven't because I know it is a simple process I just haven't been able to identify the simple steps in that process from the video quite yet.
Another outstanding video Scott. Cool to see stuff I've never, and never want to do! After years of ACPA tests that force you to learn it, high rise logistics are great to see in the real world. Pricing this stuff is definitely a homework project, and if you don’t get it right it can quickly become a losing proposition. Years ago we switched to a model in which the customer purchases the pipeline as we had found many contractors wanting to roll the dice in terms using high-early mixes with substantial dowse of accelerator. It’s a bad day when you lose $30K-$40K worth of system.
Awesome video! Apologies for the loaded comment. Is there a rock, paper, scissor, performed at morning coffee to determine who is running the remote? For said two man crew for jacking, second man, has a lot going on. Site carpenter foreman is definitely your best friend. Curious why that little 2x10 hasn’t already been implemented already, at the level of floors your into the pour already? The hydraulic hoses and supplied wire cable for the placing boom, are they a pre determined length prior the the start of the vertical lifts of the placing boom mast, or can you add to the hydraulic hose and power cord lengths if required/ repair?Are the make up pieces made in house, and is the pipe a specific, to hi rise application. What’s the cure time on those thrust blocks prior to being able to utilize that system? I thought we didn’t hit the wedges, lol. Could a little power pack be utilized to shift the mast over, that hurt my ears from way over here. Very cool to see the behind the scenes steps involved.
Running the remote is in my opinion, the less fulfilling of the two roles. I would say for the most part it’s the more experienced guy who status down at the pump as that’s where the majority of the “magic” happens. They apparently had been using the 2”X10” method but it had seemingly fallen by the wayside on the past few floors (pee-pee smack). The electrical lines need to be lengthened as the mast climbs up with the height of the building. The hydraulic lines are predetermined length as the climbing equipment stays remains attached with the few segments of mast structure. The thrust blocks I believe are poured using high-early concrete (eg: 20mpa strength in 24 hours). I’m betting a small ports lower could be used to shift that mast over if need be (yes, that got LOUD!!!!). Dann can chime in if I stand to be corrected with any of my answers, he as well as Tony are much more the placing -boom gurus than I myself am.
There was a little more running around then normal because were we trying to cover all the different aspects of using the system. Usually both guys work as a team except for when the lifting has started at which point the (bottom) guy runs down and pushes the wedges in and covers the hole. Hydraulic hoses and power cord come with the system, you only need to purchase additional cord if your tower is going higher then the supplied power cord. Our guys were putting 2x10's in but with the rotation on carpenters it's been forgotten a few times. We don't have an in house welder so I order them from a local company. The pipe we use is the Conforms quarter inch wall heat treated pipe in our towers, it lasts well in our market, We usually try to let the thrust blocks sit a few days before being used but you would probably want them to be around 20mpa so they don't shake apart. We don't like to hit the wedges but sometimes it's easier then lugging another piece of equipment around, a power pack would probably work great.

Wouldn't an adjustable telescoping pipe esentially be a hollow hydraulic cylinder? Firefighters have that on their telescoping ladder with fixed water piping. You'd just have to adjust wall thickness and seals. (Such seals obviously exist, you use them for your pump cylinders)
Yes, precisely. The challenge I could see would be longevity of said seals, also, their would inevitably be a step up/step down on the inside diameter of the pipe which could introduce pumpability issues. We actually have a set of telescoping boom pipes at our yard for emergencies (blown boom pipe). They get the job done, but most definitely could use some refinement.
We have our own Canadian certification which becomes law in our province be January 1 of 2023. Industry (in our area at least) has need this for some time. Shut was pretty wild around here, to say the least.
