A common question we often get asked is how do you defend yourself against a t-shirt grab.
The first thing you want to do is to bring up your hands in front of you and create a small contact with your opponents’ hand. This will make it easy for you to block any potential attacks that your opponent will try to do.
It will make it harder for him to attempt to strike you.
You also want to move away from your attacker so it makes it more difficult for him to trap you down. By moving around him and raising your hands, it will be harder for your attacker to strike you. It also makes it easier for you to strike him.
You want to try and move away from the arm.
This will make your attacker lower his grip on your shirt and creating the perfect escape opportunity for you. When you move away from his arm, you can then trap his hand and do a palm strike to his face.
Use the momentum as he moves in to trap his hand and strike his face putting your whole body behind it. Timing is very crucial in this position so it’s important that you strike him at the exact right moment.
Practice makes perfect so make sure to practice these self-defense moves with your training partner so you can perfect your timing and develop your technique.
