I have been going to Africa every year for 10 years, and I can say that my self drive experiences surpass all else. It is simply the best way to get an african experience if you want a good adventure!
Get an App called Maps.me if you are going into the african bush doing it selfdrive style. Its a great App!
And if you have any questions, ask them below and ill get back to you.
The rental company ive used is Bushtrackers. And ive heard good things about Bushlore as well.
Cheers for watching!

@@DanielBryn I’m planning a 4 month trip to Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and Namibia and considering a self driver trip. But I would have to buy one out there as I am 18.

Absolutely I’d do a self drive through Africa. We’ve always seen any travelling in the same way, sure resorts are nice but I’d prefer touring and travelling through the real areas. The actual cities or countryside. Meeting the locals and actually experiencing the region you are visiting. Always makes for better photos too!
@DanielBryn
@DanielBryn 2 года назад
Word! Those resorts only seem tempting when youre out camping and its pissing down while trying to make a fire. Id rather have that and a good story than umbrella drinks at the pool bar. Ill have those as well, but only if I need a break and the budget permits it :) you should really put a selfdrive on the bucketlist mate!

@@DanielBryn watching your videos is definitely moving a self drive tour through the Sahara higher and higher on my list! I’m the type of person that will go anywhere just to see what it’s like and seeing the African landscape on the natural level with the animals that live there seems like an amazing experience.

Never quite understood why people think Africa is not safe. Western media perhaps? Love Botswana. Love the people. They're always very laid back.

Hello.Your vid is very inspiring for me. I am planning to make a 14 days self drive safari next year and I want to know which month is better to choose and wich country from the wild life perspective. Thanks and cheers from Romania

Hey Jan, thanks for stopping by the channel. It really depends! June, july august is great for wildlife as it is the winter months and the animals flock at the waterholes, but then december, january and february are awesome as it is the rainy season and the landscapes can be lush and green but less wildlife to spot as the water is everywhere. Id definitely go to Botswana. It just has a more wild feeling to it as it is less accessible than say South Africa. Have fun, youll have an adventure of a lifetime!

I loved the video. I only have the possibility of traveling to Botswana in August (DRY SEASON), so I would like to know which parks you recommend for a self-drive safari experience. I have been to Botswana before and the Okavango Delta was what impressed me the most, but it was a conventional trip. I am a fan of wild animal photography. I have in mind doing the route with my father from Moremi (Okavango), Savuti and Chobe, and I have about 15 days available. Do you think it is a good option? Or are there better ones? What do you recommend me ?
@DanielBryn
@DanielBryn Год назад
Chobe and sauvti then Moremi are great choices. Or the other way around. Its relatively easy to drive yourself, and id say all the campsites are equally good. The best ones are ofc always booked at least a year in advance, and they are all expensive in chobe and savuti. So book now if you want a chance. Moremi is great as it is close to the delta, and they have self drive campsites at each gate. North gate is best imo. Hope this was helpful and cheers for watching!

Great video thanks for posting. I have a three week self drive camping safari in Namibia for October 2022. How safe is it using a ground tent in Botswana?
@DanielBryn
@DanielBryn 2 года назад
As long as the ziplock works its no problem, ive had lions just outside many nights and never any problems. Just remember to always close the tent. Scorpions are no fun to find crawling around in there! Namibia is also super, youll have a great time there. Thanks for watching Damian, have a great weekend!

Incredible video, thank you! Are all campsites in game reserves in Botswana unfenced? It looks very cool but I'm not that brave and travelling with three children. Are there fenced options and if so how do I identify and book them? Thanks.
@DanielBryn
@DanielBryn 7 месяцев назад
Hey there, glad you liked it, many thanks! I dont know about fenced options in Bots, so I would rather suggest either Kruger park in South Africa, or Etosha in Namibia. Very orderly, fenced and much more affordable than Bots if youre on a budget. If money is no issue, I would go for all inclusive lodges in Bots, or maybe a more affordable mobile safari where youll be taken care of by a guide + crew. Sethunya at outerlimitstravel.com can help you organise everything youd like apart from selfdrive safaris. Hope this helps!

Hi@@DanielBryn. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. We're all booked up for a four week self drive trip around Namibia including Etosha. First family trip to southern Africa so very excited. Hopefully we should gain some confidence to travel more remotely next time.

In the case of Moremi and Savuti. I would like to know which Campsites you recommend and if you paid for it? Do you know if you can sleep in a tent on top of the car anywhere in Moremi Game Reserve and Savuti? Or is it not allowed?
@DanielBryn
@DanielBryn Год назад
Hey - cant rememebr the exact price, but i think its 150USD pr person per night nowadays in Savuti. The campiste I cant remember. I made a vlog from Savuti I recommend you check out and a whole series from all over Bots. You have to camp at designated campsites, and rooftop tent is perfectly fine

Thank you! I'm going on a self-drive tour for three months through Southern Africa with my brother, including Botswana for 2-3 weeks around end of March - beginning of April. I was wondering though, why wouldn't you recommend Moremi? Our plan was mainly to enter Botswana from the Caprivi strip, go through Moremi to Makgadikgadi, and then back up through Chobe to Kasane, and on to Livingstone. Any thoughts?
@DanielBryn
@DanielBryn 6 месяцев назад
Hey there - great plan! Moremi is nice, but can be tricky to drive that time around bcs of loads of water. We spent some time there a month ago, and the rains hadnt been too bad so it was nice. I do prefer the areas just outside though. Try Khwai and Moghoto by North gate, and Kaziikini outside south gate. Either way, youll have a blast on your trip!
