It’s the penultimate day of Ian Harford and Steve Wild’s epic self-guided hunting adventure in Alaska. After two challenging days in the mountains, Ian and Steve decide to spend their last day before leaving camp enjoying the scenery and even head back out with the Air Arms S510 TDR for some ptarmigan hunting.
Welcome to Self-Guided Hunting in Alaska on Team Wild TV.
After successfully harvesting a huge bull and then spending a day packing out the moose and rack, Ian and Steve are feeling somewhat weary and achy. They decide to spend their last day before leaving camp resting and relaxing. However, Ian wants one more chance to see if he can bag some ptarmigan, he plans to head out later in the afternoon with the Air Arms S510 TDR.
Although Ian and Steve are looking forward to head home to see their loved ones, they are feeling a bit emotional to be leaving tomorrow. It has been an incredible trip with some truly memorable moments.
As Steve begins to pack, Ian heads once more to see if he can bag some fresh game for dinner. Unfortunately, the pesky ptarmigan that have been getting the better of him throughout the entire trip doesn’t sit long enough for a clean shot. Before heading back to camp, Ian takes one last opportunity to glass and see if he can spot that monster bull they saw a few days ago. This moose proved to be a worthy adversary and Ian would like to pay his respect before leaving.
Now back at camp, Ian and Steve tuck into their final meal and settle in for their last night in the Alaskan wilderness.
Bright and beautiful sunshine fills the skies on Ian and Steve’s final day. Before packing up camp they run through some of the additional equipment that they took on this incredible hunting adventure.
And it’s with a heavy heart that Ian and Steve leave this magnificent place for another year. This extraordinary landscape has provided what can only be described as life changing experiences for two ordinary boys from Derbyshire. In a little over 12 months, they have harvested a total of 10 big game animals including three caribou, two black bear, two grizzly bear and two spectacular bull moose. It’s an achievement that few will ever match.
As the team approach civilisation, Ian takes a few moments to remember some of the highlights of their adventure and the special moments that made this their greatest ever hunt.
We hope you enjoyed the adventure as much as we enjoyed sharing it with you. But don’t worry, this is not the end for they will be back again soon and one of you may be joining us…
