And here are Yelan’s shoes! 👠 The base looks a little bit different than the reference, but it’s more important to have them comfy than being 100% accurate. That’s why they are also a bit too large. For the details I just covered the shoes with tape and then Benni cut me some perfectly fitting pleather details with our laser! He even scanned the shape of the shoe to create the 3D printed blue crystal for the back! How do you like the result?

I've seen a lot of people cosplay with their sneakers and I get why redesigning shoes is freaking intimidating. But it certainly adds a lot when the shoe "fits" (pun intended)

I'm very fortunate to have all these amazing tools available for my work but it's better never to judge other people if they are not able to recreate a cosplay that closely. You never know what life circumstances they are coming from or how long they had time to make their costume. Cosplay is for everybody ❤

@@SienAppelsien I understand why you may feel discouraged from a project like this without the tools that really simplify the process but what she did to modify these shoes is fully able to be done with a regular exacto knife and vinyl/fabric. The blue bit on the back of the shoe that she made with a resin printer could easily be replicated with foam or model magic. Your comment is a little rude and kinda insinuates she is only able to make something cool cause she had expensive tools and that's really not the case, they only simplify the process and make it faster so she can get to making even more cool things!

There should be community craft places with lots of these tools and technology, maybe with a warehouse where you can purchase small batches of materials. A giant craft space with access to things like 3d printers or lazer cutter would be so cool for casual crafters and creators, or people who just want to get started or try new materials

There usually are spaces like this! They’re called Maker Spaces or Maker Labs, some are free and others have membership fees - but they’ll typically have Resin Printing, PLA Printing, wood working, and all kinds of tools! You can bring in your own tools too in you’re working on cutting down foam or something and need more space. Lastly, sometimes you can put in a request to the committee for new tools! So if your space doesn’t have a laser printer you might be able to request one.

So uh, I had a video idea: I think it would be cool to show the difference between using fancy and precise tools like a 3D printer and modeling software, and more readily available things to most people, like Eva foam and a dremel. It would show cosplayers who don’t have access to precise tools that they still can do awesome builds! Like these shoes: and you guys could race against yourselves and see how much effort it takes to make low budget materials look similar in quality. Also, you guys have inspired me so much to do cosplay myself, thanks for doing what you do and sharing your projects with us 🫶

I think the 3D Printers are gonna take so much needed time out of the process. Especially the way they do it with sometimes 3 Printers running parallel. But then again printing isn't fast. Really curious about who would take the win here

Unfortunately young people are envious and lazy most of them doesn't want to put any effort on crafting cosplay. And want the same result as kamui ignoring others process or where she came from and everything she made long before without any of those material material. They just want the fame and perpetual ego boosting.

Kamui has done videos like that already and a lot of beginner friendly videos using just simple tools and materials... like a lot of those videos. The cosplays they do for companies are on a deadline so of course they use quicker methods to get them done.

They did that already. Take a look back for the video on Gotham Knights mask, they did a foam mask and a 3D printed one. Benni was the model that time.

They look really good! But you have a lot of confidence in hot glue 😅 I woulda used rubber cement or some other stronger glue just cuz usually shoes get a lot more wear and tear on them.

These look amazing! I'd want to pick up sowing, leatherwork, jouwlery, shoemaking etc. to make my own clothes and cosplays. Partly because I have a very niche style, but also because I have trouble finding clothes that fit my figure well. I'm not overweight, but maybe not the happiest with my general body shape so I would like something that compliments it while still not highlighting it. I'll figure something out. It's going to take a while before I can start, I have too much else going on at the moment.
