@@Bata9999 I agree. One of my favorites is the liven 8 bit warps. It makes amazing feedback and sort of grunting noises. I got it used for cheap. I could never have done that with my old gear BITD.
Thank you for all your great Syntrx videos! I'm borrowing a mk1 from a friend and have been blown away and am considering jumping into a mk2. Is the reverb on your videos (such as this one here) coming from the Syntrx II itself, or is that an outboard reverb? I love the spring on the mk1, but it's hardly a reverb and more like an interesting characterful effect. Have you done any A/B comparisons with the mk1/mk2?
Never used an MK1. It looks fun but had too many deficiencies considering the price in my opinion. Hoping they do an MK3 in a way because the 2 could be improved as well I think. Usually for reverb I'm using some UAD plugins mostly lexicon 224, 480, and Capitol Chambers. We use some other reverbs occasionally though. I don't think the reverb in the Syntrx 2 is anything special but I prefer it to a simple spring. It does have an infinite reverb mode which is apparently pretty useful. I never use it myself though. Overall I would recommend the Syntrx 2. It's a special instrument and I don't know if anyone will improve on the concept in the near future.
@@Bata9999 Yeah I am finding that the mk1 really shines with some external FX (Erica Synths Zen Delay, for instance - you can get some really interesting layered textural madness going on with that!). I do like the idea of having some of that contained more in the box with the onboard reverb/delay, I just wondered about how the quality of the onboard FX stacks up to other options. Reverb on your FX sounded really good, I would have been shocked if it was the onboard reverb!
@@Bata9999 I would be curious to hear what you could do with processing external instruments (drum machine, sampler, etc.) via the inputs on this. Not a lot of videos out there featuring the envelope follower that I can find.
No, I think for this patch it's just VCO 3 going to the scope/Input 1 for triggering the synth and sample and hold. The sound is VCO 3 pinging the filter and VCO 1 modding the cutoff at audio rate.
