My name is Ted Forbes and I make videos about photography. I’ve been making photographs most of my life and I have a tremendously deep passion for photography that I want to share with you on RU-vid.
The Art of Photography is my channel and I produce photography videos to provide a 360 degree look into the world of making images. We all want to get better so lets do this together!
I make videos covering famous photographers, photography techniques, composition, the history of photography, philosophy and much more.
I also have a strong community of photographers who watch the show and we frequently do social media challenges for photographers to submit their own work. I feature the best and most interesting on the show when we do these so come check it out and get involved!

Thank you so much Ted! so happy to be featured! really means a lot thanks. I learned a lot from your videos and it helped me not to think about the gear too much. I even decided to switched from a DSLR to a mirrorless with a fixed lens. And shoot in manual as much as possible. You’re right, the challenge of having limitations really helps you think and it makes photography more enjoyable once you figure it out. Thanks again!

Thank you for this assignment and for sharing the submissions. I am fascinated with photographer self-portraits precisely for the reasons you mentioned: You get to put a face to the art and you also get to see a personal form of "self" expression.

I just came across this today, Thanksgiving, 2022 and as someone returning to photography after years this was inspiring. I want to thank you for all the work that you do and for having this here. I hope to work my way through the assignments as a way to inspire and motivate myself and, with luck, find a personal visual vocabulary.

I see the light now dear all😍Thank you for showing me the great selfportraits - I juist started to learn and as iT happens, my teacher juist gave Us an identical assignment, to make a selfportrait, and after 2 weeks of torturing my dear brains 🧠 I had to confess to my teacher that I found no inspiration on how to tackle this subject. Thank to your great examples I now have ideas for My selfportrait🤓😻👍🏽. Be back heer Soon, Hope to see you tomorrow ....🤜🏼

I really love self portrait photography and I'm always experimenting, with my piece I kind of reflected back to the "nobody cares about your photography" vid and wanted to create from something that mattered which was my hurt and inner turmoil turned art. So happy to have been featured amongst so much talent !!!

I want to thank you for making this video! I love doing street photography, but being limited to a specific assignment really does help. So after watching the assignment video last Monday, I set out during my lunch every day last week to somehow take a self-portrait on the streets, and I ended up taking one of my favorite photos because of this! I even managed to get more photos that I'm very proud of that weren't even self-portraits. I was even more excited that you showcased my work (mikeyboards)! I cannot wait for the next assignment, and I will be going back to the previous assignments for more inspiration. Thanks!

I've been serious about photography only since approximately late 2015. I am super late to the game here on this channel seeing that you have already completed assignment #13. I wish I had been here from the start as these assignments seem like a very interesting thing to participate in. Sometimes, I find I run out of ideas to photograph unless I am traveling (do mostly landscapes and scenery). I think these assignments might give me something to focus on when I'm lacking ideas. I hope you'll be continuing these well into the future and perhaps will revisit and cycle through some assignments again that were done a long time ago at this point.

My professor linked the first video you did on self portraits for our first assignment in his class and I just want to say how much I genuinely enjoyed watching part 1 and 2. I'm struggling with coming up with concepts so I'm just doing a lot of research so that I can try and brainstorm some more concepts. I already have one in mind but I have to do like 4 different unique concepts. Two playing around and messing with photoshop and two that are just minimally edited/not edited at all this is such an interesting assignment but I'm baffled because I don't know what I'm going to do yet

What an amazing pics this week! (I have to say for myself, this was the second time i assigned some pics, but I really noticed i'm putting much more effort into it for making them better and better. In the same time i also noticed that the 'level and quality' from the other people is outstanding! So, it keep a very nice challenge to become better and better in creative thinking, (and making photographs ofcourse), so thank you for that!)

Thank you very much for showing my photo (jue.pix) and thank you so much for doing these videos. For me this keeps the flame alive with my photography as it can sometimes get pushed to one side due to work and everyday life. It was exciting sitting here waiting to see if my photo was going to appear. It was a similar feeling to doing a scratch card. I will look forward very much to the next assignment as this was my first with you.. I know a lot of work goes into making these videos, so again thank you for taking the time.

Wonderful wonderful, really loved this as well. Me too - I didn't want to go into it because its really heavy but I was editing this as the news of the shooting came out yesterday. That combined with the people who shared stories with their photo - some happy, some funny and some sad. This was a strong video to put together. I'm really humbled by the level of talent and creative thinking.

Yes! It is interesting how everybody chooses different ways to communicate about themselves! And even though you didnt go into it, I really felt something very strong with some of the pictures, I guess that is the power of communicating visually, you let the work do the talking. It´s really great what you are doing here, encouraging people to express themselves!
