Mick, I was tracking your video to see if it offered any direction on my Atco Viscount 19SEneeding a drive belt replacement. I have cautiously delved into the machine being somewhat amazed at the difficulty of a simple change, so many bits to dismantle to get to the belt pulley. Hope I have kept all the separate screws with the fittings. I have to say my impression of a quality mower with so many places to trap grass cuttings is disappointing in terms of design. Ambition is to get to an electric start refurb to share mowing with the other half this Summer.
One just has to go to a recycling centre, the skips very often have mowers which look to have done little work, bicycles with one bent wheel but almost brand new, yes, it sure is a disposable society
Hi,I have a mountfield sp185 and one of the springs fall out.the spring which is connected to the cable is still in place but i can t find a video anywhere where or how to put the 2. Spring back..or if its even needed..could you help me out please ?😊
Don’t suppose you know what could be causing the pully to pull intermittently first pull it self propels ok but when held down doesn’t have much guts if any? Hope that makes sense?
Easy fix! For those viewers who don't know, those face shields are not impact resistant, so for grinding, etc., you still need to wear safety glasses/goggles.
I saw a tool I don't have... the pliers you used for the spark plug boot... heading for the store now 🙂 I love it when I see the belt jumped on a mower that won't move, 90% of the time that's the whole problem.
Here you go www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156148933713?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=fcem4fe9qiw&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=VxofTcWjS-2&var=456967903312&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
That is a very nice face shield. Good for you for getting the HT lead disconnected as it started so well before you started. You are right on the blade boss nubs . Some don't even have them. 7:17 Just like a heart surgeon!!!!!! Torch plug Again!!! LOL You are the master. Lawn mower shops just don't have the time.
Well done Mick another machine save from landfill, I recon who ever he took it to gave him some rip of price to fix & he thought it wasnt worth it although it most certainly didnt have a starting issue.
Absolutely brilliant video 👍🏾 that’s why I like to watch British videos! No loud Rock music needed and no attempt to make a feature length movie over a minor repair. Thanks for doing this video. I was given a Pro Plus Lawnmower and the drive cable has come out, I’ll try to fix it over the next few days and hopefully the drive will work. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
@@themowerman Hi Mick, I finally received the drive cable today. Although it was a struggle to get it fitted, I succeeded in the end and the lawnmower is now driving when I pull the handle. Fantastic!! And thanks for you doing the video, you inspired me to give it a go. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Here is my channel wish list if you would like to show some support in purchasing some tools or spare parts, it is gratefully appreciated www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/13BO7QKGAZZV2/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2?_encoding=UTF8&type=wishlist
Nice video, I think that packed grass made something to the machine. I also think shops nowadays dont want to repair, they are pushed more from the manufactures to sell new. Just a personal thought. Cheers honey pie!
Thanks! same problem on my Mountfield. a 10 min fix instead of it disappearing into the black hole of a repair shop not to be seen for weeks. also gave me the excuse to sharpen the blade at the same time. Keep up the good work!
Your video didn't really help me BUT I do agree that users don't bother to take care of mowers and consider them disposable...... and that's a shame. 😢
Worked an absolute treat on my mountfield HW531. Didn’t have any long nose pliers or clamps but managed it with a long screwdriver and turning the blade at the same time. Thx
My self drive won’t work, and I had exactly the same problem, but I have to take all The plastic off to check the belt is on, the small wheel is turning with the belt on.
And you can scuba with it as well 🤿 😆 As far as the mower is concerned maybe its the name Mount Field I mean c'mon they found it offensive 😎 Money in the pocket no matter so be offended yes be very offended !!!
You are the man Mick - another brilliant video. I just bought a beast - John Deere R54RKB which does need some love so I will be watching all your tips. All the best to the wee man "Riley Boy".
Hi Mick - just want to say a huge thanks for the video. My Mountfield SP did the same thing and I was 1/2 way to yet another new mower... (last one before did the same so thats project no.2 lol)... and when you said its not rocket science to check and fix, I thought WTH and went out and lo-an-behold dropped belt and it was easy to put back on again with the covers off. Thank you mate - saved me 300-400 quid.
Excellent video, and very useful as I find my self in the same predicament! I received a brand new replacement belt from the manufacturer, FOC, and I can't wait to fit if following your very detailed instructions. Thank you very much, from an ex-pat from The Smoke, in the US for 25 years!
Brilliant video Mick,I have a no drive problem on a Qualcast 46cm. After watching your video I found the belt off on the gearbox pully, after a close look the one side of the plastic plastic pully had completely worn away, having put the belt on just to see if the gearbox worked it went a few yards and came off again which Iknow would happen with this one sided pully. I also noticed the blade pully does not line up with this gearbox pully. I bought this mower new about 5 years ago . Have you come across this Mick.
Thank you very much for your quick and helpful reply,I will push for now and have a go at it at the end of the season, you have saved me buying a new machine I thought it was a manufacturing fault being the pulleys being out of line. Thanks again Mick.@@themowerman
as I remember, I have never seen any sided discharge mowers in your videos, is there some kind of law in the UK that they all have to have a grass bag?
@@themowerman hi mate first thing another great video and Riley is awesome makes me laugh when he does the bell lol my mate as got a mac allister petrol lawnmower he wants to know if there's a manual for it he's looked but said he can't find one so I said I know who I could ask micks mowers so didn't know if you knew where to get one cheers mate
@@themowerman Ive got a Parker brand lawnmower ! It’s a heavy beast ! Self drive stopped so I wondered what the prob was and like you suggested checked the belt and it was off ! Fixed it and it worked for 1 grass cut them it came off again. 😡
