If BTBAM needed my car, I'd give them my car. If BTBAM needed my home, I'd give them my home. What they have contributed to the musical world and what they have contributed to my life is immeasurable. I met Paul and Tommy after a show in Hollywood circa 2008, and I was a dumb stoner kid that asked them about the meaning behind Lost Perfections A & B, and they were still so nice about it. My friends and I saw Tommy in a Barnes and Noble at a different show in Hollywood, and we chose not to speak with him because he appeared to be in an argument with his girlfriend at the time. This is all to say that they are my favorite band of all time, I love them dearly, and I take every chance I get to spread them to others. "This music will not be easy to digest but if it ever clicks with you, it will be the best thing, musically, to ever happen to you."
That last quote is beautiful man. I’m beginning to click with their music and I have to say that you are absolutely right. Thank you for sharing that story.
For me I can't get into much past the silent circus but having said that those first two albums have had the same effect on me. I have known about BTBAM since before they were even signed to Lifeforce and still just had a demo and I even then I instantly knew these guys were special. Better than From Here on and Prayer for Cleansing even.
Dude, I feel ya. I've been a fan since Silent Circus (not looking for cred, it's just been a long time) and I fanboi'd out on Dustie at the PRS booth at NAMM one year. I felt like such a dope and even weirder is that these guys are like my age. My peers almost. Aren't you supposed to be in awe of old rockstars? JK They're fuckin awesome.
3:35 times like that are ones I miss the most from having my own band, just laughing at each other for mistakes, and laughing at ourselves. I also love that Paul, despite being a guitar God, is such an immensely humble dude, he's the best.
3 years late but they all have a good sense of humour so I thought Dusty did something like flashed his dick to the camera while he was off camera. Could be anything
This will forever be my favorite solo. Years of listening to it at this point and it never gets old. You guys are truly talented, thank you for all the joy and relaxation you bring into my life🤙🤘
What the heck, me too...I was like, this band is doing a great job of lifting Dream Theater, and then vocal started and thought BTBAM...then I thought they lifted the old school Meshuggah part and read a few comments and realized it was BTBAM...😂
My best friend and I covered the back half of this song. We spent hours doing our best to perfect it to impress them if they ever saw it. Glad to see they still make mistakes on their own songs too. Makes it that much more pure. 🤘🏻😄🤘🏻
I've seen them play this like 9-10 times live, and I usually end up on Paul's side of the stage. He has that same smile when he finishes the sweeps every time that just says "Damn... still got it".... These dudes slay
During some random night back in late 08 or early 09, surfing old RU-vid as a kid, I discovered this song. Never heard BTBAM before this, never even really heard too much prog metal to begin with because my choice of music at that age mostly revolved around alt metal, nu metal, some thrash metal and metalcore. This opened my mind up to a completely new world and I still credit the guitar solo at the end for setting the bar for all other guitar solos for me. On that note, Paul seemed just a little bit off while playing that solo. Still great playing from him, and still a great performance from all of the band. On my bucket list to watch them live on stage one day.
Definitely go if you get the chance, they are absolutely amazing live. I usually hear Tommy say about 12 words that aren't lyrics. They go on, stuff their entire set with flawless performance, and leave. I love seeing them and go every time they are near by.
These live-streams were awesome. I didn’t get to see the Friday night stream, but I caught the Saturday stream. Streams like this have almost made all the concert cancelations bearable.
I have a buddy who would get KTFO anytime we would go see BTBAM at the Palladium in Worcester, MA. We stopped letting him come to these shows with us. Fun times, though!
I moved from NZ to USA in 2005. I got cable and found the metal channel. NZ had nothing like USA available. So I hear this song, thinking it's a Norwegian death metal band. Loved it. I brought Alaska cd. Anyway we eventually divorced and I decided to move back to NZ. Then I moved to Australia. It was there I learned they were from Charlotte NC where I lived for 5 years. Anyway, I saw them at a concert in Adelaide. And Tommy and Paul and Blake and Dusty were all awesome. Bassist was a little standoffish but he was still cool. We talked for about 15 minutes I think. They hired a van or two carry their equipment. Love em
which one of them said that they're rather do something horribly painful like drag their balls across broken glass instead of playing Selkies one more time? lmao
@@Yousuck00 I don't think he hates the song, I think he just doesn't like playing the song. Maybe it's harder for him or it hurts his hands or something, idk I'm not a guitarist.
Personally, I get Dusty's burnout. I was in a band with a song that stuck around forever and kind of became our "hit". Every show we played people would ask us to play it. After 4 years of playing that particular song, I ended up hating it simply because I had played it so many times. Wasn't a bad song, just got burned out on it.
Love it! O.o this song was one of the influential forces in me learning to play guitar a decade ago. Glad you guys went with both lead guitars on outro instead of lead + rhythm like you did in your colors dvd
He went from looking like someone who runs a movie rental shop to a guy who models for perfume and suit brands. Short hair suits him a lot more than long hair
Nicholas Williams I’ve spent the last three weeks working on this solo, and can assure you that part at the end of the studio version is arguably one of the easiest, especially after getting through all those ridiculous sweeps, lol.
You're actually right. That was always my favorite riff too. It's just resolves everything that precedes it. A perfect resolution to a beautiful story.
For the first couple minutes I didn't know where Blake was, and then I finally noticed that he was locked up in that little room behind them... I know he's not locked in there but pretending they just chuck him in there and lock the door is funnier to think about. At least he's got two little windows to see the outside world from. 😅
I love BTBAM but there’s definitely some studio magic that goes into making Tommy sound perfect on the records. His live performances aren’t the best but they’ve been at it for 20 years.
Possibly psoriasis OR dermatitis (seborrheic/atopic) OR both, because their symptoms are very similar. (I have these skin diseases, unfortunately.) If it's rude discussing medical issues on another person let me know, i will delete this reply.
@@enoughnonsenseplease3780 Not really, i think he just doesn't know much about nutrition, look at Frank Medrano ie (i'm not Vegan at all, not even Vegetarian) i'm just saying, there's no reason to be skinny being Vegan. It's perfectly possible living healthy without meat, more difficult, yes, but possible
@@alen_ELMLB I'd argue theres more skinny and malnourished vegans than yoked ones. It's possible to live without meat and animal products but it isnt optimal. People think its just about meat but thats not the case, its more vital dense nutritious foods that are entirely missed out on such as organ meats such as liver and kidneys, gelatinous cuts that make broths, raw dairy, cheeses and butter, fish and shellfish. Such foods are crucial for thriving, a diet of plant foods may be good for survival but it is 100% not optimal from a nutritionally dense standpoint and thats really what eating is all about.
@@alen_ELMLB also not to say that plant foods are exceptional and a necessary addition to the diet, they're just not as nutrient dense as animal foods. The unison of the two is key in maintaining metabolic health.
