In today’s show, we meet two hoarder who have trouble shedding possessions from their previous lives. Falling on hard times, they've both had to move in with family. Will they strike gold selling off the contents of their storage containers?
Self-storage is big business and can help us create space in our over-crowded home. But, some have taken their storage hoarding too far, clinging on to things they never see or use, and it’s costing them a fortune.

I love how the old bedroom furniture has wheels so that it can be moved and the floor cleaned. I have two dressers which I bought at a flea market with wheels like that. I would never get rid of them. It is so practical.

Ugh I wish more things had wheels. Some think it looks tacky until you actually get to use it and clean underneath.

In the US the wardrobe can be converted to wine storage or linens etc. That wardrobe is lovely! A good cabinet maker can help you make it happen

Wardrobes here on the west coast of U.S. go for a lot! Often, folks put shelves in them. My mom had her stereo and old L.P. collection in hers.

As there are so many possessions that have a longer “lifespan” than people we must reuse or recycle them. And produce things in materials that makes them easy to recycle.

Pat needs a new realtor in France. Maybe she could have sold just enough to finance returning to France and pushing for a sale, then returning with more $$$$.

I have a dear friend who has a houseful of stuff like this. Sadly - she thinks its worth thousands of dollars. I truly hope this helps some people get a little more realistic about the monetary value of the things they love.

At 2:53, the presenter states the woman's husband was an antique dealer. Then at 2:56, the woman's son said that his father was an antique collector. There is a big difference between the two. At 10:50, the presenter suddenly calls the stored goods "collectables". Calling the 8-foot tall clock a "collectable" was a mistake. As it is over 100 years old, it would be an antique. Does she really know the difference between an antique and a collectable? Go back to the beginning and listen to how she describes herself. Finally, at 35:55, the "expert" evaluator states that the couple "have some good quality antiques" when most, maybe all of the items are collectables. Is this "reality" programme a sham? 'nuf sed.

This whole program is a set up. notice that no matter how many years the items have supposedly been in storage, when they open up the units the boxes and furniture never have any dust or cobwebs on them.

@@justmeiniowa they might clean them and make them presentable lol as they also place cameras inside the storage too for different camera views and angles. Probably make it more visually appealing to the audience watching this show.

These units are nice inside units no dirt and dust blowing around like the one I have outside. I need something like this to help me sort out mine. Like some of these people I had to put a whole house in a large unit and it pains me every time I write a check for it. Hope to get rid this summer. Peace 🙏

yet again, the so called 'hoarder' (Rick) is being bullied by someone (his sister) who consider's his stored belongings as 'junk' while her own house seems to be full of the glass, blue and white china and silver trinkets that she has collected. How would she feel if she had had to put her whole life into storage for some reason, and then be told her belongings were all 'junk'. People never seem to recognise their own faults. And Aggie is not the 'expert' she claims to be. Real 'hoarding' is a serious disorder that needs careful treatment to overcome. Simply ordering someone to ditch a lifetime's worth of belongings and memories/emotions will not cure it. It's about more than how much you can sell stuff for. (I speak as the daughter of a mother who genuinely WAS a hoarder, and who would have told Aggie to p*** Off if she'd tried this lark on her!) I have no idea why I still watch this.

I'm not impressed by the "antiques expert" who handles items without gloves. Very unprofessional. The unglazed bisque statues are especially vulnerable to the oil on his hands.
@Sparrowdean
@Sparrowdean 4 года назад
spiralgoddess Ridiculous comment, they are domestic ornaments and no domestic ornaments are handled with gloves. Do you imagine that bisque dolls were designed for children to play with wearing gloves? Safer to handle these items with bare hands, rather than with gloves on.

@@Sparrowdean Do you really imagine that bisque dolls were designed for children to play with? They are decorative items, not toys.
@Sparrowdean
@Sparrowdean 4 года назад
@@spiralgoddess2399 Let me enlighten you, Antique German and French bisque dolls from the 19th century were often made as children's toys to be played with, that's why so few survive intact. However, contemporary bisque dolls are predominantly made directly for the collectors market.

Sometimes people have things they can make money from, most of the time theres no value in it. In USA this one storage company put up a sign "Because your stuff need a home also". Yeh, right. Either at a resale store or garbage dump. If I cant keep it in my apartment, I dont want it. Excess stuff doesnt need a home. Storage--big business. Just to make money. So dont get rid of it. Keep paying the storage company for the rest of your lives. Thses people r wealthy. They have money to throw away. Most of us dont.

I find this show very repetitive during each program. We hear and see the same information two sometime even three times during each segment. Also, the hostess comes across as very much a know-it-all and she isn't. She's quick to be critical. On this segment she made a comment to the hoarder about why he would need more than one of a certain item. His reply to her was priceless and she had no answer. He asked her how many pairs of shoes she could wear at once; after she one, he asked her how many pairs she owned and she had no answer. This same woman has no sense of someone's private space. I certainly wouldn't put up with it. I do apologize for my comments but I won't be watching any more shows. Secondly, sometime only a portion of the story is told. For instance, one of the segments explains how a young man moves out of the hoarder's home - he just couldn't take the mess anymore. It would be nice to know if things ever changed. The same goes for all of the hoarders in general. It would be great to have a follow-up show after a year or two to see if the clean-up sessions were successful long term. Last but not least, I want to see the hostess' home to see if she practices what she preaches. Thank you for hours of entertainment but this is my last.
