I can testify about customer service , I am a big stickler about that . I don’t care if your food \ products are cheaper, better ect. That is absolutely the first thing for me . You treat me like you could care less if I was your customer I will never be your customer again.

Exactly! If I walk toward your booth & you don't even bother to look up from your phony & smile & say hi, then you must not need my business 🤷‍♀️ I don't care if you're on it, but you should put it away when customers are coming. I sell at farmers markets now, too, & I would never just stare at my phone or something like that!?!

Love!!! And I’m the one showing up to the farmers market 30 mins before closing to buy $30 worth of produce from one vendor. Not on purpose I am not a morning person and sometimes I don’t get what I need. But finding a vendor with good stuff is a gold mine at that time and I don’t mind paying. Also I usually get good deals. ♥️

Those left-over veggies can feed your rabbits and chickens, and if you grow organically, you can feed your composting worms to create organic worm castings to fertilize your garden plants.

Great video. I'm a new manager of a friends farm market store. Last year was our first year vending at events as a farmers market and it was great. We ended up even hosting events at our market store. So any info you have like discussing a farmers market series, count me in and subscribed! And I can attest to the being kind and greeting people. Makes a big difference! And staying til close. We're always the last ones and always make last minute sales, even as we're closing! Pays the bills to be kind 😊

We are planning on going to a farmers market after we get our farm established(new property). I'm saving this vid for sure!
@antiqueshistoryandconspira3791
Farmers markets are always a sore spot in my family. We own a farm in Massachusetts and do a market every Tuesday for 6 hours. We pack a lot, sometimes we resell but we haven't done a lot of reselling this year. Some of what he's saying is what we do or what happens. I'll say we don't grow organic because we don't have the facilities to do so. We usually do a 2-tent setup and receive a lot of people within the first few hours before it tapers off. Restocking is a must, and we often break down tables and put away crates as we sell the produce off. We build a lot of trust with people who buy from us that makes them come back. With some people we hold back stuff for them and even allow them to pay the following week if they don't have the money or they ran out of SNAP and HIP benefits. The past few weeks has been tough though since our FNS number which allows us to take SNAP expired and we haven't been able to renew it. And since we are one of the only vendors that are able to accept SNAP it's putting a monopoly into a single vendor... Sorry for the rant, I guess I got carried away. Thanks for the additional tips, maybe I can try to implement them

We were going to focus on CSA’s and selling direct to restaurants and commercial kitchens, but think after seeing this video we’ll want to do farmer’s markets - there are several here. Here in my country (the netherlands) market vendors have developed an art of shouting to attract customers. Does that sound familiar to you americans or very weird? They shout what they have that week, any discounts , specials etc. A market usually has a wide variety of produce, in food , vegetables, cheeses, fishes , meats, fruits.. and also some non food items at the same market. they don't shout all the time, but often enough that you hear someone almost all the time if you walk the market. Some people love it, for the atmosphere, some people dislike it.

Great video. Looking to get into some farm markets next year as a vendor. I love your banner sign, it looks great. I think I would have made the whole banner the “rough draft farmstead” graphic, but as I heard you mention later in your video the “certified organic” bit is a strong selling point for you. I'm sure certification makes marketing easier but I'm perfectly happy to buy from farmers who "grow organically". But when it's really busy and my indoor market is packed like sardines it's not always possible to have those lengthy conversations with the farmer. So your signs are GREAT!~

Organic does not mean without use of pesticides or herbicides , fungicides. Under organic certifications, some of those are allowed. They’re not toxic to humans. Ever consider they may be toxic to other species? The best is to use nothing at all & get what you get using best practice methods. Don’t be fooled by Organic certification.
