The guy in the yellow durag RU-vid channel is called Royeshia & Reggie for anyone not able to make that out. This is the link ttps://ru-vid.com/show-UCQs8bq4dDkIFLdmjHuI-aNg
Coming from New Zealand I really struggle to understand many of the regional accents you show when you conduct your interviews. I know it’s English but the dialect is so extreme it’s like listening to some of the hardcore Welsh/ English/Scottish/ Irish accents
When you're from Selma, currently living in Selma 👀 I go down these roads all the time. It's crazy to see someone showing an actual interest in it. Keep up the work 👏
That’s what I like about southern people , a lot of them will chop it up with u like they’ve known u all their life even if it’s the first time you met them , very outgoing . Even tho these dudes have that country hood accent , u can tell they have more sense than most of the other people Charlie has interviewed .

You know, I will say this. Compared to A LOT of your other videos, these guys seem very articulate and fairly informed about their community. I don't doubt that there are some strong lingering issues within the community, compounding too with the State of Alabama, but I feel like these guys generally seemed fairly sharp possible guys
Nukesploder generally speaking you are 100% right....before social media carried hiphop & the concrete jungle ghettos from up North to everybody's TV's, computers & cellphones, people in the deep south had what is still coined as " southern hospitality ".....even the poor in the south had limitations on how ratchet they would act.....Again as kids growing up in Norfolk Virginia whenever our relatives from the deep south or our friends relatives from the deep south would come to Virginia for the summer they would always be less aggressive & not as misbehaved as we were....they would always bow out whenever we were about to get into something crazy / against the law.....they would always say " Man yall crazy " let's just have fun that's all.
The south is far behind in modern culture. Ppl see big cities like Houston Atlanta Miami and forget all these thousands of small country towns, some have no internet. Racism is still crazy as hell out south. Especially ga, Alabama and Louisiana
@@johndough6206 Some small towns have urban vibes to them. Petersburg is a prime example Issa small town with 31k ppl yet u get an urban vibe and the internet is good there
@@johndough6206 funny u day that, I'm from Houston 🤘. Some neighborhoods are modern, some city, some ghetto & some country ad he'll 😂😂 cows, & everything lol. My fiance & fam are from Louisiana too
I was raised in Selmont(Crack City), a community 5 miles from the Selma bridge. I graduated from Southside High school in 1988. there is no economic help in the from of community small business investment. There are no leader in that county for young black men. Those guys don't realize there's a big world out there!
I see people saying they don’t understand what there saying it’s a southern accent I’m from Texas I understand it perfectly well shit like speaking code for outta town folks
I'm from Boston and I understand them but like some people down south these guys aren't trying to pronounce their words properly ...I've met plenty of southern people who sounded midwestern .... These guys sound like this because their grade school education sucked ...
Mar 21 7? Rocks Since NBA is supposed to allow HS kids straight to the league in the 2022 draft, no more one and done , I can just here it now “and at point guard, from Sellllllllma Alabaaaama, it’s [kids name]”
Charlie, you've been doing this a while so my words will probably fall on deaf ears. And, of course, you need the views to maintain these videos but try to get older, wiser people to expand on living in these environments; who aren't plugging anything, just interesting convo. I think you're underestimating your audience. Anyone who'll sit through such videos have a sincere interests in the causes of poverty and people trying to escape that situation.
I love those southern accents. Makes me laugh when people say I have one and I'm New York born and raised. I like that their well spoken and know their hood. They didn't have a problem answering any questions asked. Good interview.
Shockingly enough I understand these guys easier than some of the other people you have interviewed from bigger cities (Atlanta, Detroit, etc). And they actually speak with intelligence. These seem like some solid young men who just need a good environment/opportunity to make it out
It's amazing to see the actual personalities of these youths. I can see potential actors, lawyers, achievers. Hopefully each of these guys is motivated in the right direction. Great interview Charlie!
These guys are very intellectual. Most people think cause the from the south and country, they’re less intelligent in the way the speak there mind and express there thoughts and answers questions but they’re highly intellectual. Unlike most other places he’s been and people he’s talked to these guys hold a good conversation.
Most human beings on Earth are intelligent. But being "highly intellectual" have nothing to do with how you can answering questions, "highly intellectual" is more someone who read a lot of books, speak many language, write essays, know about cultures, teach people and learn shit everyday. But I know what you mean...
My grandmother from those projects, door right across that parking lot you interviewing at remember coming to visit from buffalo in the 90s thanks for posting this
shout out from the 206! Yall reppin strong for Selma! And good job on the youtube hustle! ive been wanting to get one going, just havent, you have inspired me to get back on it tho, gracias!
Please aim higher in life. Sure would be fun in you're spare time or whatever! Who doesn't like to travel huh. Get yourself a career then travel all you like.👌
My father is from Selma and my moms from Tennessee they came up to Chicago in the early 60s my brother was born in 64 and myself in 66 then my sister in 72 we grew up partially in Englewood and in the 70s the city of Chicago averaged 900 murders a year we spent our school time there but our summers were in Selma because it was safe grandma had that crib on hood street not far from the Edmund Pettus bridge my grandma marched with king Selma is a historic place and gets a lot of love.those young men in the video need to vote cause what Selma is lacking is a major highway cause after you get off 65 you gotta travel another hour or so to get to Selma. The highway would bring commerce and exposure that they truly need , if your in town try the Jameson inn great lodging ,much love to the town, good luck n god bless the people of Selma
Such a little baller! I think it’s a young lady too. No disrespect if it’s a young man, hard to tell on a young person but either way they got my respect!
@@sexyscorpio8087 they over exaggerating they got a mall with footlocker belks Jcpenny and a few more stores just not huge, they got a super Walmart decent restaurant like Zaxby’s , Popeyes, and all of the normal MD’s BK sonic stuff like that. Selma is a decent small city; a city that use to have a population pushing 50,000
They are awesome young men, and they have a vision/goals. Listening to them you can tell they know that rap isn’t the only way out, but because of where they are they feel their options are limited. You can not judge, and you have not walked in their shoes. You can not judge period. Uplift, encourage, motivate, educate, but do not talk at people like your life is and has always been perfect. They admitted that school didn’t give them all of what they needed, they did some self education on the civil rights. Thankful for the grandparents that know better. They probably self educated on other things also, it’s a 18 minute video/interview, not a biography. They aren’t ignorant and there is nothing wrong with how they talk, as stated in another comment, they have an accent. We all know that that is one of the things people will say to other people to try and make them feel bad is they can’t understand what they are saying. Of course in a video some things may not be audible, but that’s in movies and news also. You will have to rewind it sometimes to catch what was said. When you are in a small community and there are not enough people that care WITH MONEY and POWER, it is hard. No one with MONEY, POWER, AND CONNECTIONS care enough. If you keep people in this type of environment, this is how they (SOME NOT ALL) are going to feel........just like this neighborhood looks. BUT these young men are the exception. They refuse to accept that, and that’s the beauty of the interview. They are not giving up, they are going after their dreams, and if rap is their dream they should be supported. If rap does not work out, with the heart and potential that they have, they will find their way. I have no doubt. I wish them all the best. My comment is my own. It has nothing to do with the reader’s views or their triggers. Much love and prayers for these young men. We will see them doing great things. Asè
They seem like some great young men. I LOVE MY PEOPLE!!!! STAY HUMBLE, AND FOCUSED AND DISCIPLINED. For that young man that wants to go to HOUSTON (H-Town) make that move young man, I grew up in St. Louis and Chicago, and me moving to Houston was the best decision I ever made!!!! Surviving St. Louis was a blessing a really ROUGH TOWN, and Tha Chi. Both are very beautiful Big Cities but deadly at times. I've seen so many die in front of my eyes there, its crazy. Blessing of protection to you, young brother's!!!!
The amount of trash behind them was very sad to see!! I have been to a a few places like this, and the trash all around feels so disappointing!! I yearn to see all these places nice and clean, but you gotta work for that man!!
Being from Selma, AL myself I wish the best of luck to any and everyone from my hometown. Thing also is just like any other city, Selma can change due to its historical significance, but in order for change WE as BLACK PEOPLE have to help make those changes. Good interview....
These young Men are so Real b. I'm from Montgomery, that Spirit is so unique. I admire there intelligence and grittiness. Respect to these young brothers and much respect to the brother whose recording these young Men and there story..I can relate. 🙏🏿✊🏿
Man, I couldn't imagine having to drive 30-40 min just to go to the movies. And with no entertainment, no mall, grocery what do they expect ppl to do?!!! I'm not even from a big city, but I'm grateful. That really speaks to the lack of resources that's available there.
I was born and raised in Birmingham so I understand everything they are saying. I read some of the comments stating people don't understand what they are saying. I have traveled on business over the years throughout the US and there are alot of states and cities due to the culture the people's accent are sometimes hard to understand what they are saying. You can travel North, South, East and West and think you are in another country at times listening to all the different dialogues. I really enjoyed talking and listening to the diversity of dialogues of people. The food is just as diversified as their speech. But I will be the first to admit I love myself a country woman that can cook and is naturally beautiful without wearing makeup.
Its generational.! Parent's or parent.? Gave these young men no skills at all to succeeded at all in life.! Possibly could all be famous rappers or music producer's.? Lol joke obviously but when that fails (unrealistic goals in life) no parent to help these young men want to be a productive member of society, no work ethnic nothing at all. Sad but true.! I am in no way hating on anyone I'm straight talking happens so much and really bothers me Young people with no ambitions in life to do anything at all. Failed by parents and the worst part is it's generational sure some maybe break it and do something with their life bit majority don't because they haven't a clue how to behave like a responsible adult.
Irish Dragon bitch these days being a famous rapper or music producer isn't that difficult.. it's not the 90s anymore there is a thing called a phone and on it is a thing called social media
man Charliebo, you must like to drive. I hate it. lol. I love these interviews!!! As always be safe out there brother. Most black people are talented they got soul.:) I love their smiles, all of them when you interview them. Makes me smile. I have always found that folks are more interesting to talk to, sorry but it's true, well for myself anyways. I wish these young hansome men luck getting out of there but you can tell on their faces, they aren't happy there at all. I had a black boss once and he was the coolest guy and it was most likely that he got out the hood and he moved on with his life. He really was a great dude to talk to and he was an excellent leader/manager. I think sometimes these young people get lost in their worlds when really life is waiting for them the entire time. They can be and do anything as long as they push for it.
I had a delivery in Selma a few months ago. The amount of poverty and limited resources was beyond crazy! With all the history in Selma I couldn’t how bad it looked.
I'm glad you guys came on camera with clean white shirt that show you guys care how your look, unlike Atlanta Georgia they don't care how they look when they come on camera.
In the thumbnail the boy with the yellow durag his mask looked like a beard at first lol I was like thats some beard he got there loving y’all accents btw or course 💯
Lockdown corner #6 you right....only the sheltered people who never left there mothers front porch will call these guys thugs or gangstas.... social media has ruined the world ....every poor neighborhood is not the ghetto or has alot of violence occurring there.....UNFORTUNATELY because of social media & the ease of watching rappers & other celebrities from the hood talk & use slang it now becomes a copy cat thing where as now ANYBODY under the age of 40 that gets interviewed is gonna all have the same mannerisms, body language & slang because its watched so much everyday on social media & just to stay relevant all youth will make sure they talk the current lingo that's going on now....before social media The Northeast of NewYork city, Philadelphia, NewJersey, Baltimore, Washington DC, Boston etc had there own slang & vibe...then Virginia & North Carolina had there own vibe, Georgia & Florida & so on...in some cases it was only state wide....there was no social media so everywhere was different....back in the 80's & early 90's if you was from the south & went to Brooklyn NY, Queens NY or any place in NYC then you needed to ask a relative what did that guy mean because in NYC there slang was so heavy that they used alot of phrases in there slang & you had to ask someone constantly " What does that mean ? ".......
small southern poor town that needs some big money businesses to come in and provide more jobs and healthcare for these folks. i can imagine it being hard to have a startup business there, esp when everyone else aint got money either..
@@barrywhite2831 racist? I see nothing hateful said about any race. He is reminding us of the start of Civil rights here! In this inbred state of Alabama. But it's kinda stupid. When a black says "black love" it's not racist but when a white guy says "white love" its racist.
