Selmer Treble & Bass Truevoice 50 in for restoration. This classy British valve/tube was in need of TLC to bring it back to it@s former glory. However after completing the work we find a major Gremlin.
I don't see a Part Two? What did you finally conclude. Was the problem the OT or something else. Can it be due to the different R values of the two OT windings?
Hello Russell. Not long after I recorded part two, we had a litter of 10 puppies. My partner had just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and once she started Chemo, she couldn't look after the pups anymore for fear of infection. So for two months I didn't record anything. I did fix the amp just before they were born. I had to give it back to the customer. To cure it, I changed a valve socket on the side that was running hot, which was was suggested by someone on fb when I posted it. I mixed and match tubes and got a match between both sides within .5 of a watt. It wasn't the transformer after all. That was a bit of speculation on my part. As soon as the guy pointed out the socket I realised I had been a bit of a plank. Sometimes you look so hard you miss the obvious. Thanks for watching and take care.
Hello James. I thought about that when I was repairing it. I didn't want to start drilling holes in it. It's always a problem choosing safety or originality with vintage amps. If it had been my amp and not a customers I would have gone for the safety. Thanks for watching James.
