We explain underlying physics of exciton-polariton formation in a semiconductor microcavity. Fascinating fundamental effects can be observed in microcavity polariton systems, such as stimulated parametric scattering, non-equilibrium Bose-Einstein condensation and superfluidity. We have a large research activity aimed at understanding and exploiting the light-matter interactions in exciton-polariton systems: ldsd.group.shef.ac.uk/research...

The animations were really great. I just heard the name in one of my courses and looked for a video that explains it bit more. But to be honest, I didn't expect such a nice video about polaritons.

tbh I found the "glitchy" design a little annoying, but ultimately this video managed to make me understand polaritons. I have read many other sources on the matter and didnt understand it, but this video of all things was the source that did it. So great job 👍

I doubt my 8-year-old understands physics much, but he also loved that video. Perhaps this is how the quantum world could be introduced at school, with an animation of a guitar string! :)
