I was married to the most wonderful Jarhead ever born until I buried him under a flag draped coffin in 2007 after 34 wonderful years of being married to that man! He spent 2 tours in Vietnam! One tour wasn’t enough, he wanted to go back!! My Marine was the love of my life and my soulmate!!! It will be 15 years in January he went to Heaven to guard the Gates of Heaven! He is the best of the best!!! Semper Fi my love!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m 83 & I’ll never forget the look on my mom’s face after attending the University of Paris Island, on how much of a man I had become & I still get chills up my spine whenever I hear the Marine’s Hymn.
This may not be the Country I enlisted in the Marine Corps to proudly serve for over 20 yrs., but I’m still very proud to have served & I would do it all over again if I could once again be young - one of the biggest reasons for my joining the Marines was knowing I would never be left behind, just as Chesty led all his men out of Chosin - even the wounded & dead.
My Dad wanted me to go to college. I wasn't interested. I joined the Marine Corps 1966. My Dad was disappointed but when I came home from boot camp Dad had a sticker in his car's back window that said, My Son Is A United States Marine. Dad was proud of me. I made it through Vietnam and I later became a Phoenix Police Officer for 28 years. I'm 75 years old now and I think back alot to time I was a Marine and like my Dad I'm Proud to be A United States Marine.
Semper fi Brother. My father also told me to go in any branch but the Marines, But, as a kid I read every book about Chesty puller and the Marines. I enlisted and i will always cherish it.
Thank you for your service Sir. I am a proud Father of a couple young bucks that were born in Canada. I served with the British Military come the end of my taking lives era. Now I make food in Alberta.
lets not forget the horrible stupid evil mistake that this branch of the military made 57 years ago by getting into vietnam. and 18 years ago got into iraq which killed over a thousand marines and 200,000 innocent civilians we really shouldnt honor something that brought death and destruction upon so many americans and countless innocent civilians in iraq afhganistan and vietnam
306 people with a thumbs down, Really? It's obvious you don't have a clue how you are living in a free country. I was raised in a Marine Corps family, to respect others, protect others, and honor others. I salute all of the fighting forces of the United States of America but have a very fond spot for the USMC because I grew up listening to the Marine Corps Hymn. Once a Marine alway a Marine is not a myth, Semper Fi to all of you Marine's and a salute to all of the other Protecting Branches of the United States of "Our " America 🇺🇸 👏
My brother served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era - 2 tours in Vietnam. Came home alive but forever changed. Like my dad (a veteran of WW2 & the 82nd Airborne, awarded a Bronze star) he never talks about his tours overseas with anyone but other veterans. Those who don't serve could never fully understand what these men & women go through. God bless every one of them!
MY DADDY AND MOMMA SERVED IN WW2 AND MY MOMMA'S BROTHER DIED IN THAT WAR. MY MOMMA NEVER GOT OVER HIS DEATH. MY PARENTS BARELY SPOKE OF THEIR DUTY. BUT THE LAST CONVERSATION I HAD WITH MY DAD, BEFORE HE PASSED, HE SHARED A LOT WITH ME. I CRIED AS HE SPOKE OF HIS PAIN OF KNOWING THAT "ALL HIS YOUNG BOYS" WERE KILLED IN HIS FORMER UNIT. MY DAD GOT ORDERS TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER M.O.S. HE STILL CRIED ABOUT THOSE YOUNG BOYS. HE KEPT SAYING, "I SHOUD HAVE BEEN WITH THEM." I KNEW I COULD NEVER TAKE HIS PAIN AWAY. BUT HE WAS GRATERFUL I CARED, AND LISTENED. IT WAS THE MOST SOBERING LAST CALL I WILL NEVER FORGET FROM MY DADDY. I MISS YOU, DADDY (AND MOMMA) AND I WILL ALWAYS BE SO PROUD OF BOTH OF YOU FOR DOING, SERVING, AND HELPING US KEEP OUR FREEDOMS. I LOVED YOU BOTH ALWAYS~~
Every Servicemember gets changed after they get deployed to an active Theater Of Operation. It's very common that they'll never talk to their family of all the things he saw and experienced while in combat. They just need the support of their family members to at least have some quality of life. Semper Fi!.
My dad had a friend who served in Vietnam and he never spoke about it but he still had night tares which would make him scream and then wake up crying. Thank you for your service and that of his fellow marines. ❤💔🥰
I’m 74 now, and served as a Marine in Vietnam. I don’t talk about it either, because just thinking about it sometimes brings tears to my eyes. The proudest day of my life though was graduation day from Boot Camp in San Diego, Platoon 2030 Sep 1967!
We privately say " If the Army, Navy, and Air Force ever looked on Heaven's scenes, you would find the angels shacked up with the United States Marines. "
Im a Vietnam grunt and I'm so proud of these young Marines I could bust....it is heart breaking to hear that Marines were killed today anywhere.....because being a Marine that you understand that you meant to be placed in harms way to impress on others that we are serious about an issue....each generation of Marine has stood on the shoulders of the previous one....that gives meaning to the motto.....Semper Fidelus
The spouces and relatives of Marines are at many times unsung heroes of our country because they share their Marines with the rest of the USA and provide our Marines with love, support , encouragement and purpose so that these Marines can do their job defending our country to the best of their
Sorry about Your loss Mrs. We're all family, Your late husband was needed to Serve GOD in heaven. Think of it as a "change of station". Take care Ma'am!. Semper Fi!.
With all do respect mam . he may be leaving your baby boy . when next you lay eyes on him he will be my hero . thank him for me . and god speed young man .
Shannon Blackwood I’m extremely late but your son is doing an amazing thing. My brother left recently to Pariss island and it’s terrifying but I know he’s doing a good thing. Tell him I said thank you for me❤️
CC Latshaw only things tougher than a Marine are his Mother, after all she raised him/her to be the person that they become. And the one that someday marries a Marine cuz they gotta put up with them lol. Thank you and your son for your sacrifice and service. From a Marine and proud father of a Marine
United States Marine Corps 1980 to 1990, will never forget that day standing on those yellow footprints. All hell broke loose once those bus doors opened. Don't regret one day of it. Semper Fi Marines.

Bobby Allen hey Marine you were same Battalion but different Company I was a D I in B and D Companies I didn’t know your DIs I am pretty sure you were there when that recruit was killed in a pugil stick fight a lot of Drill Instructors lost there jobs that week Hope all is well my Brother our world seems to be a big cluster fuck right now good luck Semper Fidelis
@@jimwalker2224 He has actually been in two years as of this week. He is stationed on the west coast and we are in Georgia. Overall, he is doing well. He likes his job for the most part. The pay sucks and there is no adjustment for cost of living. He has had a few medical issues but nothing major. The wait to get to be seen is ridiculous. We actually have four boys in the military. Three are enlisted and one is an officer. Two in the Army, one in the Navy, and one Marine.
I am a Parris Island Woman Marine who served 39 years ago. Wow, this song hit me hard. Thank you Trace, you’ve done us proud. I am in Denver for our yearly flight attendant recurrent training and I came downstairs for a burger and saw that there were three Marines that were here to go to the MEPS station tomorrow. I will show them this video to motivate them. Once a Marine, Always a Marine! Semper Fi to my brothers and sisters.
I fought next to many a Marine on my tours. Some of the best brothers and sisters. Stand next to me anytime Marine. From a Canadian with 40 yrs in uniform. I also have my Navy para wings.
Marines are born, we don't join because of one reason or another, with that being said, thank you for the confidence that you have in The Marine Corps to make your family a part of our family.
Hits close to home every time I hear this. My brother passed in April from a brain tumor due to exposure in Iraq. We all found out how bad he'd gotten on the same day and I flew from Texas to Oregon that same day and when I got there, 4 of his Marine brothers were already there. At least one of them he hadn't seen since his last deployment in 04-05. Definitely a true brotherhood there
THOSE 4 THAT CAME TO SEE YOUR BROTHER, WERE ALSO HIS BROTHERS. THEY FOLLOWED THE USMC CREED OF NEVER LEAVING A MARINE BEHIND. THEY CAME TO HELP HIM GO TO HIS FINAL "DEPLOYMENT".
@@leathernecklifestyle7463; It is said, "You can take the man from the military but you'll never take the military away from the man". Very wise words. Semper FI!!.

Our son is a proud Paris island graduate so we are now a part of the Marine Corp family and we couldn’t be prouder!!! Thanks to all of these brave young men and women for their services for their country and for all of us!!!
Congratulations!! Welcome to the Marine Corps family. I went to the Navy's aviation electronics school while a Marine and advanced to World-wide Service Manager before I retired. There is nothing better a young man can do with his life than join the Marines.
I'm proud of all of you and Thank you for your service to your Country. Please take of your selves and each other. America needs you and all of our 1st responders, takes a special Care of each other, watch out for your selves too. This is also for women marines too. I was the 2nd woman to build elevators in America, worked on a job with about 300 guys and me, most of the guys were working to take care of their family's. Bless you all, sometimes people got new mess, Got hit with divorce papers, so sometimes patience is the best way to all concerned.
Absolutely amazing, I am not a fan of country music, however this sends chills through me, and I find myself getting emotional. As a retired United States Marine , I thank everyone who put this together
My Son Calvin Robinson has been a Marine for a year now. As a parent the day he left was the most wonderful, but also the most saddest day of my life. I'm so proud of him and all the men and women in the military. I thank all of you and appreciate all that you are doing. I pray for you daily and God Bless all of you
God bless his journey and back. I know your feelings. My son Tony left on my birthday to join the Marines. He served nine years and made me proud by excelling in everything he did. He left in 2014. Today he is married and has a daughter. God bless all U.S. MARINES and parents like you.
Don't worry, he's now a member of the greatest fighting force the universe has EVER known. GOD bless your son, and GOD bless America. Semper Fi from an old Marine!

Great song, dad joined in 1949 ended up in Korea in 1950, then stayed in the reserves while working as a metro cop, but ended up in Vietnam in 1966. He made it back, but my older brother graduated H/S in 1973, and w/a 100% scholarship, threw it away, because he wanted to be like our father. Mother signed his papers at 16, completed MCRD, then he was shipped to Vietnam, and sent home in a aluminum box at 17YO. He could have been a phenomenal attorney, he wanted to be working at the WH in DC. But instead, we really never knew how he died, and dad was so intimidated by the USMC Officers, who came to deliver the news, that he wouldn’t allow mother to grieve in front of them? Dad died in 2015 at a VA hospital, he was 82 , and still volunteering full time w/the metro department he had retired from with 50 years, yet he only told his last youngest sister, that he was afraid to ask USMC LT , who was liaison about his medical condition, since dad retired in 1969 from USMC, he had service connected injuries from Korea & Vietnam, but only received 37% disability until 1998, when a VA dr requested 100% ( non-retroactive), dad got it ,because he had received poisoning from agent Orange in Korea, not Vietnam , according to his Dr. He really wanted to help my father, when they took out a portion of his left lung, in 1969 at the VA hospital. Our family never understood why he was so scared of Marine Officers? He only hung out with enlisted Marines & Cops who had served in the USMC, but never had friends who were USMC Officers. He was buried in a military cemetery , but he always talked about a Marine funeral, and even though he had been through 2 wars, and lost his eldest son in Vietnam, he only had a DAV funeral, allegedly our US Congressman, said that he didn’t have enough time to facilitate a Marine Honor Guard , because he was no longer a Marine, he was a civilian? And that it would be much nicer to have a Police Officer funeral. They were going to take care of it, but since dad had requested a Marine funeral we tried to achieve it, yet couldn’t. He always served the American people, but in the end, the US government would allow him a Marine funeral, and his Police Department was going to pay the USMC 100% for the Honor Guard, but when they never showed up, the DAV veterans came in vans, played taps on a small stereo & buried him in the veterans cemetery. Mother passed in 2012, and she was also buried in the military cemetery & dad was buried on top. My father & mother would have loved this video, sorry for all my cheesy rhetoric, it was difficult seeing a man w/so much dignity and fiercely stoic, who I had never seen cry in my entire life, be thrown away like someone entirely insignificant? He lost, so much , yet the government was too important & too busy to allow him his last request? Anytime people said “thank you, for your service as a combat soldier”, he always explained that he wasn’t a soldier, he was a US Marine “Semper Fi” Marines.
Dear soldiers, Yes, I understand you. I was as ICU NURSE in Afghanistan. please don't give up. I want to share some things with you today and have thought about them for a long time. I went through Boot Camp late in 1960 through early 61 at MCRD San Diego. That was An experience I will never forget. The Marine Corps training made my life a better one in many ways and at 82 I'm still in damned good shape. Just three months after a triple bypass--open heart surgery--I'm up doing my abs and pushups, swimming laps, riding my trail bike and playing golf. I say it's because once, a long time ago, I was a Marine and somehow, still am. Thanks for the tribute to the Corps. Semper Fi.
My dad went through boot camp at San Diego in 1973 and still remembers it.Had one guy that would not get up saying he needed his sleep.Told him he better get up and did not listen to my dad.DI came in and pushed this guy out of bed.
We old Marines are counting on you new Marines to carry on the traditions of our Corps. Things change, people change, society changes, but we as Marines must always remember our roots or our Nation dies.

Yes. 50 years later, I love & miss it. RIP General Richard C. Schulze, 54, a retired major general in the Marine Corps who served in two wars and commanded the Officers Basic School at Quantico and the recruit depot at San Diego, Calif., died Nov. 10 at the Boca Raton Community Hospital in Boca Raton, Fla., after a heart attack. He lived in Alexandria and was on a business trip when he was stricken. Gen. Schulze was born in Oakland, Calif. He graduated from Stanford University, enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1950 and was commissioned in 1951. He commanded a mortar section in Korea during the conflict there and an infantry battalion in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. Much of his career was devoted to personnel and training matters. His assignments included command of a company at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at San Diego, recruitment of officer candidates in the San Francisco area, and the instruction staff of the Basic School at Quantico, through which all Marine officers pass. Later he commanded the Basic School, and as a major general, the San Diego recruit depot. He was director of recruiting, manpower plans and policy, and personnel management at Marine headquarters here when he retired in 1981. He also had served as inspector general of the Marine Corps. After leaving the service, Gen. Schulze was president of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute in Arlington. His military decorations included the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and three Legions of Merit. Survivors include his wife, the former Sally Sutton, of Alexandria; two sons, Jeffrey and Carl, both of San Diego, and his mother, Genevieve Schulze of Alexandria.

I spent 8 years in the army and 29 years in the air force ,and my son is a 2nd Lieutenant marine and I couldn't be prouder . I love all of my military brothers and sisters
@Deadman The 8 yrs I served, the detachments I've been on where we as Marine's were attached to Army units, They treated us like dog's. The Army was nothing but bag nasties dilly boppin around. Disrespecting our rank structure. Not following orders. Making claims that they were always better than us. The Airforce hated us in Kuwait. While they served the so called protection of gates(which was a joke) constantly knit picking our vehicles for inspection. Getting lippy with us. Constantly complaining to our Headshack that we were cussing at them and crying that we're unstable animal's. So yeah the hatred is there. Not so much with the Navy we bicker back and forth with them.
@Deadman I hear ya on that. My point was that there's always that hatred between the branches. And as you've said bros at the end of the day. Don't think we didn't straighten them out. Lol
Trace,I thank you sooo much for your song honoring Marines. This is a GREAT tribute. I joined the Marine Corps in early 1/1980. All 3 of my Drill Instructors were Vietnam combat veterans.
