We are so grateful for the daughter we gained the day she married our son in 2012. We live 500 miles apart, and it's easier for us to travel than it is for them with 3 kids. He will open up to his dad rather than me, but our daughter-in-law tells me things so that I know what he is going through also. We never judge, and he knows he can talk to us, at least he can his dad. Take care Jon!

It's not about wanting to kill curtain races or destroy curtain country's, it's about showing your loyalty to your country, to YOUR ideology and most of all, to what YOU believe is good.

@drewjamison734 I am a 25U. Choose a 17 series MOS, though it will be something different. Go cyber, or intelligence, somewhere in that vein, so that you have back-ups and safety nets in case you don't like the military lifestyle. If you do, keep on trucking, but if you don't want to choose a safe option. Choose what speaks to you, and remember that you still have to follow the army doctrine for whatever you want to do. Look into TMs or technical manuals for things you might find useful and study. Study in school, if you don't score high enough on the ASVAB, you'll either have to settle for a crappy MOS, or, wait like 2 months to take it again, though I'm not sure of the actual time it would take. Good luck, little dude. When I was 10, I dreamed of joining the army, and I made it a reality. I did it out of necessity, though, which makes me mad because I wasn't set up for success and subsequently failed civilian side. I joined to gain housing and food, though I am staying because my unit is like a family I didn't know I needed. I hope you foster that love for your nation and serve, but make sure that when you leave the military, you've sharpened your knives, so to speak, so you succeed when you get out.

Got naturalized as a U.S. citizen during basic training's graduation ceremony. It was, and it is the PROUDEST moment of my almost 4 decades breathing on this world. Three tours in that nightmare country known as Afghanistan. Two of them in the Korengal Valley. There's days I wish I was back there.. just doing what we did best. 75th Ranger regiment 3rd Battalion. We got it done and we got it done very very efficiently. But you know what they don't train you to do? They don't train him to deal with the crippling PTSD depression anxiety the nightmares the faces that you see sometimes when you close your eyes if you don't want to see. Just all of that they do not teach you or do a whole lot to get you better or keep tabs well enough to make sure that you're all right. Sometimes you know these things need to happen war is hell and sometimes it needs to happen but the 20 years in Afghanistan we should not have been there for 20 years we could have been there for like I don't know 10 would have been more than enough. you know those people have been invaded seven times throughout history? Yeah people wanted to change their way of life or they wanted to take everything from them. Those Afghan you people all of them are the Taliban isis just the locals there a very prideful people and we changed absolutely fucking nothing. Only now they have a trillion dollars worth of our military hardware. There's m1 Abrams rolling around with fucking Taliban flags flying high the isis flag flying high there's 10 year-old boys with M16 A3 rifles in their hand. Little girls don't even get to go to school. They're used for reproduction purposes starting at absurdly Young ages.... It's sickening. Women aren't allowed outside without their husbands. And when they do go outside complete coverage except the eyes now just like it used to be. It's awful over there. I mean it's their way of life but still...

My grandpa was a ww2 marine and I remember as a kid he would count to himself quietly as he held me and I asked why. He said he was counting the seconds and minutes away from when bombs would drop in his fox hole. I felt sad to understand, that he still heard thunder in his old age. I asked him at seven what my future was and he said I was going to have a hard life and he was right. He was a Pisces and wise. This song reminds me of him. :( He made me toys by hand ( wooden wagon) and took me to the parks when he had cancer. He will always be my 💓 soldier and BFF. My respect to all the outstanding men who go the distance and women who loved their soldiers. Then and now.
