One of the things I love so much about Crow is how he isn't a perfectly good person. He did many bad things to achieve his goals, but never felt evil either. To me, this made him feel much more real.

I will forever love Crow in this game; he’s such a perfect foil to Rean. Spoilerish discussion through CS2-- Rean is someone who feels that he doesn’t belong anywhere; he’s an adopted not-noble not-commoner in a land where status is paramount. He’s got a good loving family but feels like a burden dragging them down simply for living; A Nowhere Man. So he goes to Thors to try and find a life mission and a place to belong. And on the other hand there’s Crow; a guy who lost all his family. But he’s a man on a mission. He knows exactly what his goal is and and drives for it relentlessly. Rean opposes Crow but at the same time he admires the way Crow lives; the force of his driving towards his self-set goal; it’s so unlike Rean, who can barely put his own desires above obligation towards others. And what happens? Crow fails. Everything he did ends up being for nothing. That’s why Rean is so upset at the end of Cold Steel 2; because what hope is there for him to have an impact on the world if someone like Crow couldn’t? It’s why that imagery of Crow in Ordine hits so hard in this song. But Rean decides ultimately “So what? Maybe my life won’t have any meaning, but I’m gonna go for my little goals anyway, even if there’s no hope of achieving them.” At the end of CS2, he spits defiance in the face of meaninglessness. Rean Schwarzer, my favorite main character of all time. 🙏🙏 And Crow is a big part of that by being such an excellent foil.

Decisive Collision　のメロディだな 最高

When I red on the Internet that The Decisive Collision had a vocal version in Cold Steel II, I looked forward to listen to it. And it was as fantastic as I hoped, or even more. What a bittersweet end for the game :(

Didn’t realize it at first but the chorus is the same melody as the intro for “decisive collision”. I think it’s very fitting for this song.

I’m going to be honest, I never played this game. I also had never even heard of it before before hearing this song. That said, this song still makes me cry my eyes out. Not just because it’s a good song (which it is), but also because it was used as the ending credits song for a massive online video project called “Ponies The Anthology 7” which is currently and likely to always be the last entry in the series. I won’t pretend to know what this song means for those that did play the game, but I feel as though the song really does mean just as much to the bronies listening. This song represents the ending of both a decade long series of massive fan collaborative videos about a cartoon show they love as well as the ending of that very same decade long cartoon show. With that said, I want to salute all of the people out there still listening to this song. No matter where you first heard it or what it means to you, never be afraid to say you like it or to cry your eyes out while listening to it.

Yes, he almost blew up everyone in Crossbell, and yes, he almost kickstarted a catastrophic war between two superpowers, but if you think that makes him a bad person, remember that he also made Rean a fish sandwich. In the end what truly matters is that you're nice to the protagonist.
