SENA and SHOEI HAVE AN ISSUE 

I don’t think a lot of people think to check the manufacture dating in a “new” helmet before buying from a dealer.

Yeah it’s a bit of a con, you’ll need a new comms with a new helmet. It’s pushing many towards cardo etc and surface mounting which must deter many from buying the shoei

Thanks for the comment. Replacing that helmet is $750, definitely not cheap. It’s a judgement call and if following the standards strictly, it still has one year of life in it before it disintegrates. Knowing Mike I’m sure he’ll be buying a new helmet in about a year.

@@Texas2TiresMy Arai was $750. IMO just another expendable component of motorcycling. If the Sena fits the new helmet without committing a Dremel to it, all the more justification for an early upgrade.

@@Pyrrho_ I would have dremeled it as well and postponed the new helmet for a year. I can report that Mike is happy with his decision and will swap the new SENA over once he gets a new helmet in the near future. Do you have a SENA, CARDO or other communication device? If so, why did you buy the brand you did?

@@Texas2Tires Cardio Packtalk Edge on an Arai Signet-X helmet. After a lot of research it appeared to have the best combo of features, performance, and convenience vs Sena.

@@Pyrrho_ I wonder if this new SENA is a better contender to Cardo? Anyway, if you're going to ride with friends and chat, you all have to have the same brand. As I know, Cardo and SENA don't work together.

I have not used it in "Mesh Mode" as that requires multiple friends that all have SENA. I only have two friends that have SENA. The rest of my riding buddies don't have communication. Anyway, to connect to my friends is really fast and simple. First time connect is just scan a QR code and it connects. After that, you can save the friend's details in the phone app so it will connect directly next time from the app. The voice commands work almost 100% of the time. For example, if I ask Siri on my iPhone a question or ask her to make a call, she answers about 90% of the time. 10% I have to wait a couple seconds and ask again. Also the speakers (Harman Kardon) are much better than the older models even with my ear plugs in, I can hear my tunes and calls clearly. Overall I'm happy with the SENA Mesh SRL

@@twisted_void I think you can mesh with up to 25 riders staying relatively close. Depending on the terrain, I'm guessing less than a mile.

He did end up cutting the helmet, but ended up having problems with the SENA on the technical side. I installed the mesh in my Shoei and love the hands free voice commands and the speakers are definitely an improvement. Thanks for watching and commenting, appreciate it.
