We can get close to a mile with our Sena 30Ks on the open road when the other rider is visible. In conditions like you tested we are about the same. On mountain switchbacks with obstructions then it cuts out pretty quick. Mostly the sound is terrific with this mesh 2.0 but occasionally there are interferences, mostly likely from overhead power lines. Otherwise this iteration is really quite nice.

You need the SM-02. Some claim it doesn't work with Cardo.

Great video. Very informative. Considering getting one of these to loan to a buddy temporarily or to put in a support vehicle. Also, how do you capture audio from both riders in your videos. Really nice feature.

I linked my Cardo Edge to the +Mesh using the Cardo Connect phone App.the Intercom is set to Bluetooth next Pair A or B set the +mesh is in pairing.

Really only talk with passenger,to many riders talking together not always a good thing.Good road info is good,but to much BS is distracting 40 years of CBs

How are you getting communication from both riders recorded on the GoPro?

Trying to pair a different brand that already had mesh is one of the two big issues. One is this Sena device only accepts other Sena headsets. Two mesh communication is still not the same as using CB.

Will another mesh radio between two riders that are out of range be able to reestablish communications by the one in the middle acting as a repeater?

Is it correct that “mesh 2.0” or open mesh is brand agnostic and will work regardless of the manufacturer

Can you please define mesh 2.0 and open mesh and clarify if they are mutually exclusive (assuming they’re different things). As for the “plus mesh” device I almost wonder if that’s not superior to the standard headset because it has a antenna jack on the plus unit and that means I could connect a custom antenna and boost the signal

Of course the obvious next step would be for manufacturers to pre-install this mesh technology on their bikes creating a massive mesh powered by the bike itself potentially allowing for signal amplification for greater range and a robust signal, then use short range Bluetooth comms for connection to the built in unit. Over to you Honda et al.

So for nearly $200 I would just get a Cardo which has mesh and has much better dependability and audio quality. Plus I do not have an additional item to keep charged and mounted on my bike.

I have one question regarding the mesh channel. I've been a sena users for many many years and am getting into the mesh system with my purchase of the 30k. My question is, how do you initiate a conversation with another rider via mesh. Is it always "ON" all the time or can i off it and on it again if i want to talk to them. Most of the time i want to listen to my music and only when I need to communicate, then i would initiate a bluetooth connection to another rider (previously). How does it all work actually ?

Yes, you can turn the mesh off and on.

I was speaking to a guy today who has one of these, he suggested that his Sena intercom on his Shoei GT Air ( specifically designed to fit Shoei GT Air and the Neotec 2 and 3), not only could connect to his friend Mesh Sena, but said the quality was better, plus he could now listen to music even when the mic was live! Can anybody confirm this please. I have a Sena 10R and I’d love this to be true, as when I ride with my brother, we leave the mic live to chat, but this prevents listening to music as well.

Is it possible for the Sena PI to connect to the Sena +Mesh and then have the +Mesh communicate with the R2 EVO over the open mesh network?

Just got done chatting with Sena Tech Support. They confirmed that the Sena Pi can pair with the Sena +Mesh. Then in turn they can communicate with a Sena R2 Evo Cycling Helmet over the the Sena Open Intercom Network. Woohoo!

Can you charge the + Mesh unit while using? Concerned the + Mesh unit battery will die before the Sena headsets.

No. Cardo's mesh system will not work with Sena's.

He already had the holder, it was just a quick and easy way to mount the +Mesh.

Talking too loud should never be an issue they should automatically have clipping controls built in if it can’t handle being a little too close to your mouth or talking too loud etc that’s a bit worrisome re: highway noise and loud exhausts etc. maybe it was a one off.

Not sure why but Don’s voice is always a lot clearer than yours. Is it the mics or mic placement????

Don's voice is recorded directly to the GoPro through a lavalier mic on one channel (Left) and my voice is coming through the Sena heasdet into a second channel on the GoPro (Right)

Hello. I'm Curious if my Sena 30K includes open mesh in the newest firmware upgrade. It's been on the shelf for a while and I don't have anyone to test it out on myself to see if it works.

Have you looked in the Sena app? There are some volume settings in there I think.

Can the +Mesh connect via bluetooth to a car's handsfree system? Trying to organize an overland expedition through the Sahara desert with 3 dirt bikes and 1 support vehicle, where ideally the support vehicle is aso able to communicate to the bikers (and not have to wear a headset while driving, but just use the car audio).

To my knowledge, it will only connect to a Sena Blutooth headset. Not even another brand of headset.
