Definitely agree that Ron fits in more smoothly with the Barry Goldwater's than the current party, but on drugs, marriage, abortion, and foreign policy I'd still argue Ron is more moderate. And as soon as possible, as there are often rules that state you have to be a member for a certain time before the primaries to be allowed to vote in them. And you should also know that if it is a Caucus, what most people think of as the selection of candidates and what the media presents as a result -is just a poll. The actual voting that matters happens after the poll, when the people who knows whats going on cast their vote to select delegates. That is what happened in the last primaries in Iowa, where Ron Paul came in as close third in the poll but won ALL the delegates because his supporters took over the delegate voting.

To sort out who gets to be on the ballot in the presidential election for the republican party they have internal elections to pick their favorite candidate. These elections are called primaries. In the primaries each state selects a number of delegates who then vote for their preferred candidate at the national convention. In the last election Romney won the primaries. So before Rand can be on the presidential ballot he needs to win a majority of the total number of delegates in the republican primaries. The primaries work differently in almost every state. In what state do you live?

To me, raising the minimum wage is a bad idea because the businesses and corporation's will not want to pay the extra money into paying for everyone's income. They will find cost cutting ways to support there company, for example they may replace over 1/2 of there workers with computers and robots that will save them money in the long run. That will hurt people looking for jobs as they will be taken up by other means such as the robots and computers. Plus the small amount of workers who end up getting the jobs will be over worked because there will be a small number of employees working doing the same amount of work that would require more people to do.
