matt n Yeah, I know. It's obviously something that some writer thought up for that show or the BBC already had up their sleeve and were waiting to put on a new show to give it a boost. I find the guy horrendously smug and not especially funny. But life would be shittier if we all liked the same stuff so good for you if you enjoy the whole show.

Either way, Richard might not have had a chance to reply or they might have decided that other replies were more fun to read out, who knows... I think that would depend on what school they attended. At Eton there’s probably three boys called Octavius in every class, but the one poor kid called Barry gets his head flushed down the loo regularly. Jacob Rees-Mogg named his most recent son Octavius. ‘nuff said. 🙄

I never understand the signing part. Do people sign their texts? It's pretty likely your contacts have your number in their phone as well and they will see who it's from (besides the way they sign on this show, which is part of the fun, is by nickname and alike so you would have to know the person)

how do they send the message to everyone individually? that's what's suspicious to me... if you sent an imessage to your entire contacts list, they would all get a group message and see everyone else's number/replies which they definitely wouldn't do especially for celebrities

I used to work on this show. The way it works is, Michael discusses what text the celeb is ok for him to send. Once they agree on the text, the celeb is asked to pick out 5 to 10 contacts, preferably celebrities, that they think would give a funny response. And the celeb can even contact the potential receiver of message before the show to prepare them, and help them to write a good response. So it's a funny premise, but ultimately completely planned and fake

I don't think you'd write about how they do the "Send to All". Are you too bitter to let people enjoy stuff? Why do fake "Send to All" when you can easily actually do it on the show? You can tell by how the celebrities react to the text being sent and to the responses that it is completely and utterly genuine. Michael did "Send to All" himself with his phone with James Corden and you can tell that it's real.

i dont think that its not real entirely. just more likely that people they text realise its for the show. also the guests probably get any really serious contacts omitted or they delete them beforehand. i dont think its entirely fake but i do think its planned and restricted. how would his assistant not know alexander was on the show and that this game was involved. so i think theres the element of playing along.
