Thank you for this video and the other one of just sounds. I adopted a 35 year old Senegal who from his band was possibly wild caught. He had not been out of his cage in at least 12 years, and his cage was only 20 x 18 x 20. I brought him home and had a new cage set up for him but even after leaving his old cage open for 8 hours, he would not come out (understandable - so much change for the old fellow!). Several people suggested I just let him be in the old cage and set it next to the new one for a while, but somehow I really wanted him to know right away that life would be different for him with me. While I was sitting with him, I was doing more research on Senegals and came upon your video, which I was just playing on my phone. He went BONKERS when he heard it, came right out of his cage and much to my surprise, he FLEW. He actually got HIMSELF into the new cage (I didn't try to handle him - don't know if he ever has been) and now he has out of cage time every day. Thank you for posting this. At this point I'm not sure if I should keep playing it - his reaction was very dramatic - not sure if it would enrich him or stress him out (his health is not the best). Thoughts?

As Senegal Parrot owner who fight every single day to improve her life condition, I really loved this video. I am moving in one month from an apartment to a house, I'm going to give her a full room full of equipment and build an aviary. Then, I will look for a mate for her. Her happiness is my top priority.

This video was so fascinating and beautiful!! It was so much fun to watch Senegals doing Senegal things, just like mine does. Our parrots are still wild, after all. Mine flys around my apartment and can get flight since I have tall ceilings. But he's sort of like a helicopter. I guess their bodies aren't very aerodynamic.

My captive senegal is very comfortable when he hears this audio.

Very interesting, informative and well narrated! I would have loved to hear isolated sounds/calls of Senegals in the wild. It is difficult to distinguish their calls between all the other bird sounds. Thanks for making this available to us who can only appreciate them in captivity.

I agree that is difficult to follow parrots. Here, we have an evasive species of Mexican parrots and they are really difficult to follow. They seem to fly in pairs, maybe mating pairs? A lot of work to film. Again, thank you for this. My senegal loves to listen to this.

Parrots do know each other as individuals - it has been scientifically proven via a slightly dubious egg-swapping experiment that parrots' names are given to them in the nest and are not some kind of genetically-inherited instinctive noise. Having language and individual identifiers is interlinked with the ability to refer to individuals not present, which probably wouldn't evolve if parrots quickly forgot about friends (or enemies, or plain annoyances) that weren't immediately present.

I've been watching your videos. I have a male and a female budgie. From pet store. Not hand tame. They are free to fly around outside their cage. I'd like to tame them. Hold them and touch them and put them on my shoulder. Also they've gnawed through their wooden perch is that good or bad behaviour?
