Hi Murdoch, I was just practicing this drill a couple of days ago. Half swings with my 53 degree. After a couple of swings to build the confidence to trust the swing I was landing the ball 45-50meters (59-55 yards) consistently. I played maybe 60 - 80 balls between ranges of 25-50m and although the outcome was out of mind, I was really happy with developing the feel for different distances and the resultant outcomes. Switching up to an 8i and trying to play full shots, my timing and rhythm suffered and it took a few balls to get that confidence and hence trust in the swing back. But it comes. I suppose that’s why we practice, to seamlessly transition through the bag without the need to recalibrate. I guess that’s why you advocate the 3 practice swings in the preshot. Just how do I do that without carrying the burden of slowing play?
@@mickruban3567 thank you very much for taking the time to write this comment. Well done on the pitching shorter range consistently. If you recall back to how this felt for you, you should recall a sense of ‘cloning’ your swings and the strike was very similar each time… this is you controlling the process. 👌🏼 Next, you RECALL this process and repeat with your 8 iron.. down the handle and commit to this FEELING (the cloned swing). This is all you can do as a golfer. The trouble is, each day you golf you climb this ladder again (Groundhog Day reference) starting with drills with no club to remind you the quickest way to get your initial BLUEPRINT swing feeling. This initial feeling will then be used for 3 practice swings with the club, striking the ground or a broken tee. Now answering your question, you’ll soon get this down to two swings then one practice swing if you warm up with this focus. Hope that helps you! Thank you again I’m happy you’re enjoying my videos 🙏🏼
