Great video Dave. I play third and I see some of this first hand. There are balls hit that just get there so much faster than they should.

Just a heads up - the shave doctors the pros use add weight back into the bat to counter the weight test.

The new Suncoast bats have a poly sheet in the barrel that doesn’t make them shave proof, but if the poly sheet is gone,then you know the bat has been shaved

Hey big D thanks for the video I think the bat-manufacture should make it so you can open the bat up….. 1 number 2 The bat manufacture should have the exact specs on the bat the weight handle weight total weight then you would know it’s altered thanks RB Stuck in Minnesota shitty weather time to get out of here …..

I always look forward to your bat reviews since they are informative. I've been playing this game for a very long time and bat doctoring has been a part of the game since before the PSTs. Hell guys were taking endcaps off of aluminum bats and packing them with racquet balls to get more performance. I know guys that swing shaved in league ball, as long as their is winning and losing guys will do whatever they can to gain an advantage. I find it very hard to believe that senior bats make up 80% of the shaved bats on the market, if for no other reason Senior ball makes up a very small percentage of tournament ball being played. Hell they even shave kids baseball bats these days. You go look at all these bat doc places online and they show you which bats they offer and the different services and a very small percentage of those bats are Senior bats. Pretty much everyone playing softball for the past 20 years knows about bat shaving. Sadly, I think this video will introduce more people to shaving and influence more people to find those bat doctors. Showing guys that they can hit harder and farther via video proof will lead to more guys getting them. As a few other guys have said weighing bats won't anything. Guys that shave bats for a living know how to put the shavings back into the bat and they are virtually undetectable by weighing bats.

Barrel thickness is an interesting thought, but are the manufacturers perfect with their quality control? Manufacturers are happy Senior bats break since there is no warranty. Why would the manufacturers do anything to cut down on altering. One company that did (Pure) is rarely seen being used. If the bat manufacturers won’t do anything (which they won’t due to $$$), associations need to go to a lesser ball.

Dave, what’s your opinion with exit velocity testing? I know it varies with different guys but we have gotten to know your guys and their strengths. Would love to see the same guys with different bats and see if there is any significant differences. Thanks,just a thought.

Dave,I would like if you can share the info on the "ROCK" softball which was supposed to be rated 44/375 but they were more and got caught, I tried to share that info with friends but they don't believe it. I'd end all shaving by going back to aluminum bats or your not allowed to hit a homerun,probably everyone would quit.thanks dave

I don't disagree with the ban for life but add the coach/manager . If you have shady players there may be a price to pay for it. Also never use some other players bat, and an appeal process will need to be thought up. As we learned in formation long ago, a few people can screw things up for everyone.

No one wants to hear this but 52/300 balls were designed to reduce the advantage of a shaved bat.
