For this late Saturday Swatches (late upload), I am featuring Sennelier L'Aquarelle Extra Fine 12 + 6 Watercolour Set wherein all the colors on this set is also available on a variety of 12 half pan & tube sets the Sennelier offers.

I find my Sennelier paints really excel at layering to build up depth of color. This is a nice basic set and I like that there is room to add more colors so you can curate the palette to your taste. Great video and thank you for sharing!

honestly I totally agree with you and that is what I mention on my videos also that this is perfect as it is buildable and perfoms best on glazing. Their Phthalo Blue looks different than what I'm used to seeing PB15:3s looking like - I'll have to get out my set and see if mine looks like that as well. Thanks, Elizabeth!

It's very different from other brands. Also, Sennelier's pb15:3 has not the highest lightfast rating, contrary to other brands.

They are Lovely smooth paints - not much granulation or interesting colours but they are reliable to me!

hello @awatercolourist there you are! I am thinking maybe it’s also the way I swatched and the paper that didn’t give justice to the sennelier phthalo blue but one thing is for sure, it is buildable and does perform better when glazed atleast. My everyday out and about (urban sketching set) set is 12 Sennelier with 5 DS Primateks in the middle row of my pallet. Sennelier is creamy, 1 swipe, excellent paint.

Sennelier is definitely in my top 3 favorite watercolor brands, it's one of those brands that immediately had a special place in my heart as soon as I tried them 🥰 I'm really surprised they included bright red, sennelier red is beautifully vibrant and a punchy red, it would've been much better to include that instead.

Hello E4. I am so glad to hear it is in your top 3 as a lot of people do not understand Sennelier L’aquarell watercolors especially those who are looking for magical granulation effects.. it is not what they are known for. I love this best for illustrations. That bright red is worksble but indeed sad that it was there instead of the Sennelier Red which is unique to the brand. Blick Art Materials lists the Bright Red as PR 3 - Toluidine red. Semi opaque - high staining strenght. LF: Very Good

Hi! I used the info directly from SENNELIER’S website straight from the source, coming from the brand who made this watercolors! 💕 I always research the info from the brands and not from retailer stores only who can put whatever info they wish!

I wonder, what would make a basic 18 pans watercolor box more interesting? Besides granulation.

Well…they market themselves as using the palette of the Impressionists…. They weren’t looking for the paint to have special-effects, they were creating their images and using their unique styles and vision. I think they are similar to WN, in that they produce “classic” products, but Sennelier has more experimental as well,. They just don’t really mix those approaches within product lines. Sometimes excellence (which is why they are beloved by botanical illustrators) doesn’t need to be earth shaking. Just excellent 😉

Hi, i tried etsy but it is not as beneficial here in EU as it is in US. The fees are crazy high and I earn nothing at all so I am not sure I will continue there..
