Great review. I collect all of them. To me its like that. 600 kings of vocal, 650 kings of smooth warm sound, 660s kings of imaging separation speed lively sound and 660s2 have what 660s have but smoother more low end . The best technically to me is 660s2 . Other than that it depends the taste.

Awesome video, really awesome to see the comparisons you provided. I cross-shopped all of these! Went with the 660s2, no regrets.

Great review. What is your opinion on RME ADI-2 DAC vs Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 PCIe Sound Card for driving the 660s or the 660s2 ?

You say Piano better on 600 . But their add lingo says 660s2 Does Piano better ! Lol i just got the 660s2 using spl Phonitor 3.. And i played track i know very well and the Guitar parts are Dimished on these . Also noticed some micro details from known tracks not heard on these ! Could be defective unit 😮😊

i daily drive h6xx, when I got hd 660s2 it has no treble and details in the highs. Only until after a week I start hearing the treble details on hd660s2. So yeah, your ear and brain need to adjust, especially when you use different kind of headphone everyday.

Better with amp! Something like iFi Hip Dac 2 or 3 would be perfect!

660 S2 is technically superior and more balanced ✌🏽

Sennheiser tends to mush up everything except for midrange and natural timbre, that is not enough in 2023. I just got a 2013 launched AKG K712 Pro today and this thing is awesome. Was using HD 599SE before which was good for its price but this AKG is next level in sound. Soundstage, clarity, details are all next level. Was thinking of getting 660S2 but its clamp force is too high, so we pay such a high price for it of our hard earned money just to get clamped in a vice grip? Sennheiser needs to improve a lot. Also can it match older models of other brands in clarity, details, texture, sub bass depth etc? I am not a fan of any brand but just saying. I have been using HD 599SE till yesterday which is supremely conformable but 660S2 is not comfortable so I am neutral to all brands

Comfort like Sound is subjective, we all have different head sizes so i understand what you mean, did you test the Meze 109 Pro?

I thought AKG are dead after bought by Samsung. The original team is a totally different company right now. I do believe what Sennheiser deliver with HD 660S2 is having really nice, balanced, and natural tonality.

So I have owned the HD600 for about 7 years, using it late nights at the desk, but I ordered the HD599 to see if I could use at work and a bit in the car. I tested thoroughly for about a week, but sent it back and ordered the HD660s2 (on sale now for 400 bucks) because even using it with a DAC/amp it didn't perform well enough and it also had such a huge high-bass to low-mid boost that started to muddy everything up. Turning it up past low volume started to muddy things even more, and at concert levels it was a complete mess. Nothing like my experience with the HD600s. Way too much of a downgrade for such a small price increase moving from HD599 to the 6 series imo. Dac/amp combos are cheap these days and will compare well well to more expensive ones. There are a good number of super affordable and solid portable options as well which is what I plan on pairing with the HD660s2. Sure the HD599 are extremely comfortable and really well built despite the cheap thin plastic look. However they didn't get loud enough and bass sounded terrible through my phone, so it made no sense to keep them with the huge discounts at Drop for the HD6XX and on normal HD6 series cans going on right now. I prefer the big boost in SQ over the very slight improvement over comfort using the HD6 series. The 6s stay on my head better as well. Never shifts or slides off but is still very comfortable as I can wear them almost the entire day. Also never pay retail SH prices and wait for the good deep discounts that usually happen 1 or 2 times a year. These aren't worth more than 400 bucks. Same with the HD600 at $300. Starting to get into overpaying territory at those prices. Without the deep discount you are likely just better off going for the AKG or another option. SH needs to just lower prices to these for good imo. HD6 series don't need a ton of power to run and will sound better by a long shot. Entry level is only 200 bucks via the HD6XX on Drop right now. Still a little bit of time to get in. Also is a big sale on all SH now. 300-400 US for every HD6 series option right now. I have no doubt that these headphones will be worth 400 bucks. I've gotten stupid levels of enjoyment from the HD600 already, and were worth the 300 bucks I paid for them about 7 years back. The HD599 just can't compete. I was really hoping they could, as they actually have a very similar driver. I guess it's geared towards gamers that only listen to music quietly or don't mind bad SQ when things get turned up. I was super disappointed with them which shocked me considering how much I love these HD600s currently on my head. Cheers.

Hi.. This clamp force is on purpose for smaller heads , a lot of woman use them also. And of course this pressure is going away after some hours but again if u are in a hurry u can just put them in books for one night and that's all. HD6 line is the most comfortable headphones. About sound HD6 line got many upgrades or even sound grades if u prefer ... For example it's not only midrange and timbre like u said but , on 660s and S2 u get amazing Imaging , separation and speed compared to 600 and 650 so there is an improvement. I am telling that because I have all HD5 and HD6 line and I use them many years to have a better opinion than some ( not.all) reviews that have an opinion after 10 hours of use and not side by side .

@@juqual78 HD660S2 sounds muddy to me too, but i have symetric DAC - ZEN DAC 3. When i used balanced cable, then everything sounds much much better, nice clear middle, bass was punchy and add lot of clean treble. Completely different headphones.
