@@ChuckFresh Great vid and I got the MKH 416 too. I don't think AI will ever be able to replace character work. Possibly commercial.

@@incognitocas It will definitely be a while before they can model, program, and psuedo-randomize colloquial speech. But I think in 5-10 years, programmers might be able to create an algorithm that might fool us at least part of the time, and producers can tweak the rest. I was invited to participate in the development, but it was onsite in Silicon Valley, and I can't do California. Doing my part to slow it down!

Agree. I think the 416 is tuned more for capturing spoken word than singing.

Honestly, in a treated or quiet space, and with some production skills, you can totally get away with the RE320. The directional capabilities of the 416 allow you to quiet some of the peripheral noise, but that can be filtered in post.

@@ChuckFresh I have one of those .. but I now use a apogee duet 2 …. And a dbx 286s as my mic pre with a re20 mic … but I want to get the mkh416 p48 mic … . That mic sounds superb… for voiceover

Whassup Nikko! I use the logitech webcam mic. I've done head-to-head tests during class, and kids tell me they can't tell the diff. VK does some tricky compression crap to their audio.

You should try it blind and see if you can really hear the diff. Radio, TV, YT (and everything else) compresses the dogsnot out of audio. Sadly, no one will ever hear the pristine uncompressed 48-96 kHz 24 bit audio most producers try to record.

@@ChuckFresh Yeah so because I don’t have the best room for sound isolation I just wrap blankets around my little closet door and such and I found when I compare this to the at 4040-I had better control as far as technique and blocking out unwanted sounds. I also found that the quality without doing any post edit it’s just another calibre like I don’t even use the queue to be honest for my auditions I know some people may not agree with that but I like to keep it natural because I am not a sound engineer so for that purpose as well I find that this is a great Mic but obviously a high-level one probably not for beginners

Never too close. Proximity effect pays my bills.
