I noticed the same with my iPhone 14 Pro when connected with Bluetooth. Though it gets noticeably louder when I connect it the way to my Mac. But then, when I connect them wired via 3,5 mm jak or the usb c cable, the sound stays the same just like on Bluetooth.
its a push in the Greens and the Oranges in combination with all of my Lights being set to 5600K, and a special small trick that i will make a video about in the next couple of weeks :)
I never had any connection issues ! They turn on automatically when I take them out of the case and are connecting to my phone (android with snapdragon chipset, so aptx adaptive as codec) within 1-2 seconds. The connection is really rock stable never had a disconection or hickup. Also they turn off when I put them back into the case. So never use the button.... I also have the opinion that out of the box the bass (below 100 Hz) is a little to much. With the equalizer in the app I did not get very good results because it has only 3 bands. So I played with the app wavelet and made some changes in the bass (-) and in the mids (+). Now I´m really happy with the sound which has a great soundstage and shows excellent results with almost every music genre. Much better then the Sony XM5 or Bowers & Wilkens PX7 (first edition).
What’s crazy is that I brought the M4s a few months back with nothing but issues and pain while wearing. Bought B&W px7 s2 loved them but missed the bass and sound profile of the M4. Decided to try them one last time before the return window was up on the px7 and got no connection issues or pain on the head. Many companies outsource manufacturing to multiple factories like Sony and Apple. Even down to using different parts. I wonder if Senheiser do this so some models might have the issue while others don’t. 🤷♂️
Listening this on momentum 4 and I can confirm these HEADPHONES are bonkers, I also have a pair of bose 700nc along with Sony xm3 and between all of them sennheiser is just damn good. Although it's still not as good as sennheiser momentum 3s but it's still good
@@omegasak1752 only the sound quality, everything else is better in my opinion, except the fact that momentum 3s had buttons instead of swipe gestures so although momentum 4 gestures feels a bit cheap its still overall a step forward and i think its better than buttons to some extent as well. but yeah in comparison to momentum 3 the biggest benefit you get with the 4s is the battery life, i use my 4s everyday for about 6-8 hours non-stop and these don't tell me to charge my headphones till like day 3-4. so its damn good in terms of battery life. and sound quality is not bad at any rate just its not as good as momentum 3 for sure. in more details about sound quality i am not audiophile but in the simplest way i can explain is that in momentum 3s i felt the song more, it was as af the song was playing literally in front of me in real life. the sound stage felt more immersive and more clear to some extent. momentum 4s are not bad in that regard even in momentum 4 i am quite immersed, but its def not close to momentum 3s
@@ashx2405 thanks a lot for your detailed answer! I read and watched videos, and it seems to be the trend that the M3 sound better. For me, that's what matters the most. Thanks a lot again!!!
@Omega Sak ain't no problem, whatever you go with weather it's 3s or 4s both have their perks and their drawbacks. But overall I don't think you'll regret either of them cause Sennheiser has done a great job with both of them. Hope you get yours soon!
"what they actually sound like" through another pair of headphones. 😂. This approach only works for comparing various headphones, to check their "relative" sound.
Outstanding review! Thanks so much for your time and effort. May I ask, have you noticed any issues with the sound balance? I've heard some say online & on another review video that it seems weighted to one side. Just subscribed - appreciate such an high quality review & presentation!
@@LeechTM thanks so much for replying & that feedback. From what I've heard, if the issue is present, it isn't something you can miss (easily). So I reckon yours are probably ok. I have been nervous to buy because of this - the return policy system in NZ is a dog's dinner, very difficult to get refunds etc.
I am listening to this video with my Beoplay H95’s. The Sennheiser’s sound pretty good to me for the most part. This is subjective: First, second, and 3rd song sound great! Sounds almost like I am playing the song from my phone. 4th song I would say the bass dominates way too much and to me it feels like the mids are lacking. 5th song which is rock music, sounds natural. Very clear. I would actually consider these Momentum 4’s as my work headphones.
Watching this video in April 2024, the bluetooth connection error is still exist even after updating to the latest firmware... Turning off the On-head detection via the app is the only solution for now..
They started to give an annoying white noise in my right ear after like a week of using, I learned that this is a quite popular issue after finding multilple subreddits about this. Had to replace them
Great video. Just one complain... that simulated boke effect is kind of annoying, your close up shots are beautiful but the fake boke didn't let me fully apreciate the detail of the product
Sehr Gute ehrlich Review danke von USA… I am awaiting my Sen M4‘s shortly and decided on them based on Sound Quality as priority with ANC and simplistic yet tasteful design for Travel and at work/home with multiple ways to use wired/bluetooth both for Music and Calls and professional aesthetics slim profile. Best bang for buck all around application for versatility and not compromise Sound and long battery and at decent cost Vielen Dank super review mach weiter so 👍
Better than the Sony XM5? Because I love good ANC, deep base but also listening to a whole orchestral song and be able to hear the quitest piano playing. For me, the Sny XM5 are better bc of their overall warm sound and also natural audio from instruments that are beeing played in songs...or are the Sennheiser 4 better there too? (or is it rlly smth personal)
I recently bought these and was at the gym with them, I guess I may of been abit sweaty as when I tried to use them after one of the earpieces had a rumbling sound as soon as they turn on. Any advice on how I can fix this ?
I often forget this sort of test, since its not really relevant for me. Need to do it more often in the future. Looking forward to hearing about your experience.
I used them in tram today with lots of annoying noises from tram itself and people around it. earlier i used to use my soundcore liberty 4 earbuds and the noice cancellation was so aweful, i would think about throwing those ear buds out of the train. Now tested same with my momentum 4 and they are so damn good, almost rival the XM5 by just a few % as leech mentioned it
My sound drops out but its still connected and controlling my IPad. Holding the pairing 3 sec button does nothing, 5 sec nothing still. Then 15 second to reset them. Show red light but nothing follows. Turn off computer restart. . .nothing still. Put charger on for a while….nothing. Had to do a factor reset. This was the second time in one week I had to do this. I don’t know how I brought it on.
Bought my M4 yesterday. Happy overall but I love to get more bass out of these. When I increase the low frequency in the equizer the overall sound decreases and the bass boost does not significantly increase the bass. I guess I need to wait for some time for the headset to start performing better.
If you need more bass than what the M4 gives I would check out the Sony XM5. It’s hard to get more bass than the M4 gives without muddying the mids or the entire sound stage. Some higher end cans can do it but not at this price point
I have been able to extensively test the Momentum 4, Sony 1000XM5, Shure Aonic 50, B&O HX, and B&W PX7 S2 and I have to say the top 3 for me are Sony (post eq), B&W and Shure. The sound quality that comes from them is unmatched by anything in the $500 range and they're all very comfortable and to be able to get that kind of quality from something that's now priced between $250-300 the Aonic 50 is a bargain. Plus the 2 year warranty from Shure doesn't hurt
Can you elaborate a bit more about the Sony XM5 post EQ? Can they match the sound stage and separation of the Momentum 4? I have read many reviews which said the EQ on the XM5 does not change much.
Lol they are good but they are not meant for heavy use. My first pair died on me I'm on my second pair😂 do not wear them continuously do not sleep with them on do not get too hot in them do not sweat in them. Do not wear them from full battery all the way down to empty and then recharge while using them and do it all over again take them off let them rest😅 the audio quality and everything is so amazing you just don't want to take them off well at least I don't and I didn't but it came out of cost of the headphone
Please explain to me how I can hear what these headphones actually sound like from your video review, without actually hearing the headphones on my ears? I'm truly intrigued.
Hey, thanks for asking. The ANC + Transparency + Audio at the End was recorded with a Binaural Microphone, which is very sensitive in picking up Audio. If you use your own Headphones, you can experience their frequency / tonal range, how good the Momentum 4 can reproduce Sound. The better your current Headphones, the closer the actual recording will become to what i heard when i recorded the Audio.
@@LeechTM I’m going to have to call BS, as much as I hate to. There is absolutely no way another set of headphones can reproduce the resolution of another set of headphones when listening to a recording of said headphones. Too many noise sources. Too many variables. Two microphones on the side of a styrofoam head does not equate the shape of my ears. Or yours. To say that a binaural recording represents what they “actually sound like”, is a bit disingenuous. I listened to the audio recording of these headphones through a set of the same headphones. Then I listened to them through a different set of reasonably highly resolving headphones. They both sound amazingly different. Not to mention listening to the source material directly. I appreciate the review, but it’s a little bit like telling someone to watch a movie on your phone to compare to a theater.
thanks for the answer. I know that this cannot represent the full experience, and this in no way should, but its the closet you can get to wearing them yourself, without wearing them yourself, right now. Since you listened to them on 2 different devices, its absolute clear that both sound different, since both have different drivers etc. But nonetheless, glad you took your time and asked.
@@jasondhamm Thanks for the video. Maybe people like it more if they have a direct comparision to other popular headphones to hear the difference in sound signatures. I bought my M4s after hearing samples from various actual anc headphones and i have to say (After trying the XM5 from a buddy), that video i mean gave me a good first impression what i could expect.
Sennheiser was my fav brand, been Brazilian living in Deutschland and using german products, but i've got earbuds cx plus and same problem with the app, while when i had sony wf xm3 was amazing sound and perfect application use, and soundcore good app also. So this disappointed me so much and makes Sony headphones better than Sennheiser. Sad, cause is a cool and strong brand. Nice video btw, i loved the mic test in Deutsch.
@Varnu Mvn I had the BOSE NC 700 for a year now, and the sound quality does hold up. I heard people say that Sennheiser Momentum headphones have a lot of bass, and crystal clear mids and highs.
I owned the NC 700s for about 2 years. I prefer the Sennheiser sound, but they're both excellent. I'm not sure there is an objective way to compare sound quality. The Sennheiser's have more bass out of the box, and I'm not sure you can get the Bose's to that level.
@@LeechTM So I could probably get a USB-C to 3.5 adapter and use that to connect the USB-C to phone and 2.5 to headset correct? Would it still rely on specific codecs doing it wired or is that a Bluetooth thing?
@@LeechTM Each phone has its own built in Bluetooth codecs to interact with the device wirelessly. In the case of my Android phone it supports SBC. But if your wired to it does it still need those codecs to give you the sound? Or is it just working analog stereo like.
Sennheiser makes really good headphones especially for the consumer market because most other headphones like Bose and beats are kinda trash in my opinion tbh
they sound amazing. Have them since the second week they came out. The bug mentioned in this video is still present with the latest firmware... it's really, really annoying...
