@@goldfinga786able there’s so much money on Apple’s balance sheet, they’ll rob the factories, staff and machines and make the chips in the USA before anything kicks off.
Momentum 4 are the best in 2023 in wireless headphones. Nothing could beat it. To have a more balanced sound put eqaulizer to Flat Regarding Anc - Its nearly good as Xm4 but my home is silent and don’t wanna use Anc However I encountered a problem. It made my ears warm very fast. Sadly I didn’t find any earpad replacements on the internet as these earpads are glued to a plastic frame and comes out like what apple did with Airpods Max Sadly i had to return it. So if this didn’t made your ears warm. Go for it 💯 percent Hope Sennheiser will release velour or hybrid velour earpads replacement sooner or later. When that happens i will buy them again Sadly i had to settle with Audio Technica M50X-BT2
Sony dropped the driver size to 30mm, smaller than the M4 version. The Sennheiser's have a 42mm driver. Hard to beat the bigger drivers in the bass category.
@@poisonpen26 Gen 4 is 40mm, gen 5 is 30mm. Look it up yourself and let me know what you learned. I wrote this comment to teach. It is up to you to learn or verify.
My only issue is the Momentums had an iconic look. I have the OGs and they're arguably still he best looking headphones in their price point. The 4 look like the run of the mill Sonys and Bose headphones.
Yup you hit the nail right on the head. They used to have good sound that rivaled other headphones but they also had looks that easily outdid other headphones now they just look so boring
@@jasonm9112 the thing is that the old momentums look kinda wierd and awkward in public due to the metal hinges. For me the new ones look more minimalistic and modern but again, FOR ME.
I dove deep into the headphone rabbit hole for these. I always check you out on sound related buys and without a doubt your review on these momentum 4's helped solidify my decision to pick them. And I couldn't be happier with one of the most accurate reviews and trying out the XM4 and XM5 myself. These were the right pick.
Was just thinking of getting some over ear headphones and rewatched your M5 review gonna go ahead and think it through after this cause I'd probably prefer the ANC of the M5s but im a bass man and double the battery life with a slight difference in ANC make the Sennheiser seem like a better deal to me, great job as always Floss
I’ve had the m5’s for 2 or 3 months. They are amazing, except for the way the anc auto adjusts to the amount of noise/the pressure. If you’re using them to work in, exercise, or walking down the sidewalk with cars driving by, they are SO ANNOYING. I love them, but I’m ready to throw them at the wall at this point, because of the auto adjusting anc.
@@phlooke Unfortunately no, there is no way to do it. Most people will argue with me about this, because they get adaptive sound control mixed up with ANC. With the adaptive sound control, you can program them to sense where you are (your gps coordinates) or your actions (sitting down, exercising, walking, etc) and will adjust the headphones to be in ANC mode, or the Bypass mode, or turned off. But when you have the ANC on, there is no adjustment to it. It's always in their AI driven ANC, and will auto adjust the level of noise cancelling depending on the sound outside of the headphones. So they'll be working great, then a car drives by, and they adjust the level of noise cancelling, then adjust again when the car is gone. This comes through as your ANC adjusting the sound level in a really loud, obnoxious way. They're wonderful if you just hang out in a controlled environment, inside. But anywhere else, it gets to be very annoying.
@@phlooke see the fact that we have to question turning off the anc is sad. Momentum’s have better sound quality which really is the most important thing. 60hour battery life helps.
Ok this has changed my mind on which new headphones to get for the home. I was seriously thinking on the XM 5's over Air Pods Max and now I think I will look at these. Thanks for an awesome review as always Flossy and White Shoes !!!
Everytime I'm looking for a review on a product be it a headphone or phone...flossy has a review on it. I swear this man knows exactly what we're thinking
I have to disagree about the look. The m4s look generic like ever other set of headphones out right now. The m3s had a retro classy look and was made of real leather and brush metal that looks and feels premium. I personally like the actual buttons too. That being said, 60 hrs battery life and better anc is a major upgrade. And the momentums sound incredible. I mainly use mine at home so I'll probably stick with the m3s for now at least. Luv your reviews btw!
This is the Bluetooth headphones I have been waiting on from Sennheiser.... I'm glad the battery life is better and they got rid of those wires sticking out of the momentum 3
I think I've decided I might get these. $50 cheaper than the Sony XM5s. They focused on the sound quality first. I'll be using mine is mostly quiet office or at home while studying or playing games. I also like the fact I can plug them into a DAC via the audio cable or USB-C. Which is huge to me, because you'll get even better sound quality through the cables.
Don't forget the 60 houts of battery life. I'm trying to make up my mind between these and the MX5, but even though I do like the design, the full plastic body bothers me more than a bit.
Another great set of anc headphones that are on par if not better then xm5 are the new units from technics the eaha800 the anc is just like Sony the call quality is better and the sound is far superior the only thing is the app is not is good I would highly recommend them I just gave my employee of the month of pair and wow he was happy
Great video, floss! Been watching for a while now but never really commented before. You literally make my day and I thank you. Been sadly hit with covid recently and watching your videos bring a smile to my face. Thank you. :)
You can always rely on Flossy's review. Great job bro. I still remember my first view is when Flossy reviewed the Ducati IPhone 5 casing. Bought it right away after watching the review. 😂
@@FlossyCarter time flies bro. 😂 8 years pass just like this. One thing never change that is I'm still relying on your review for my purchase decision. 👍👍
What up Floss, I subscribed to your channel about 2 months ago and let me say. I love your reviews and knowledge of electronics. Mainly headphones and earbuds. You're the reason I got the sennheiser momentum 3. Now, I'm gonna get the 4. Great job bro.
I bought the XM5 yesterday. ANC is a beast, but I prefer audio quality above anything else. Wouldn't recommend anyone buy those for regular price. Should've listened when you said to buy these if you prefer audio quality. Deff learned my lesson lol
coming back 4 months later. watched this when this was first posted, but got a little buzzed the other night and decided i wanted a new pair of cans. already have xm4's, and i love them, but beer is a helluva influence to buy shit you prob dont need. either way, bought these few days ago and while i love the xm4's, i love these even more. got em for 275 which persuaded me to get them over the xm5. no buyers remorse here. again, thanks floss.
@@paulatridies they are def not as comfortable, but not uncomfortable, or have as good anc as the sonys, but i think they sound way better. i listen to mostly rock, folky type stuff and some hip hop and handles those just fine. i would def recommend them.
@@captainsdead Thank you for your detailed answer, I live in a city that is lookalike Mordor, very noisy, that’s why ANC is my priority which leads me to Sony then.
I agree with you man, the full plastic body is still dragging my mind back on the decision of picking the four. At the moment, I've reached the level of looking "great over hear metal headphones" 😂If the 3 didn't had the hanging wires I've already went for them.
Last year he was saying the Momentum 3 was higher quality because of the metal and leather over the all plastic headphones. But now the Momentum 4's with all the plastic and fabric are more premium. Idk bout all dat. I'm sure the4's do sound better! But the Momentum 3's looked more premium than all the other plastic headphones.
Maybe it's me but I prefer these to the 3's as they look less heavy and softer on the ears. Although the 4's do look like most generic headphones these days, but long as they sound and feel good on the head, that's what matters I guess. Great review from the god tier of reviewers Flossy Carter. Much respect from Ireland 🇮🇪 👏
For the people that think that this things are bassy, not exactly, the thing is that you hear bass in every song, frequencies that are not in other headphones even if they are called "Extra Bass" headphones, the Momentum 4 make every song sound COMPLETE, finally I don't have to boost the low on the EQ or mess with the clear bass slider, for the first time I don't need a lot of bass because my music sounds complete.
These need ldac, aptx hd, and an optional wireless dongle for pc (not bluetooth). I have an arctis 7 for wireless pc gaming, senheiser wired for premium audio, and a shitty bluetooth headset. Thats 3 devices. Give me a single device that does all 3 and im so in. Until then i can wait and make due with what i have. I use my earbuds 99% of the time and surround sound at home but i love senheiser headphones and would love to replace my kit.
I got the Sony 1000xm4 cause of Floss, I got the power beats pro because of Floss, and I got the beats fir pro because of Floss. Being a fan of Floss is NOT cheap!!! 😀😃🙂
My man floss thanks for the work you put in. I just wanted to ask you if you were going to do the new POCO phones. You know I can't buy a phone without the floss major go certification. Have a nice one.
I have owned the Momentum 3s and PXC550ii - both are awesome. I was told by a Sennheiser rep that the Momentum 4 is a cross between the two. The Momentum 3 have superior sound, period - no contest. The PXC550ii is more comfortable - no contest. The touch pad on the PXC550ii is good for volume, play/pause, receive/hang up phone calls. All the other touch pad functions are frustrating to the point I just gave up on them. The Momentum 3 controls are buttons and work every time - I prefer this. I'm gonna stick with my Momentum 3's - which I think look awesome old skool. Love you, Floss!
The 3 and the 4 have the exact same speakers so there's NO way the 3 sounds "superior", they're gonna sound exactly the same just with a better battery.
When you say it has the Sennheiser Signature sound. That’s my go to. Looking for something to replace the Sony’s XM3. Seeing the comments regarding the Sony. That price hike. No go. To be honest I am digging the looks of the M4s as well. That fabric look, that clean design. Appreciate your review, am picking up a pair for myself.
Honestly The XM5s are the most expensive Noise canceling headphones you could get, you are paying a big penny in your pocket, I heard senhisers are pretty good but never tried them, I will give them a try in the near future, but for now I am happy I got my SkullCandy Crushers Evo because myself I am a bass lover, and saves you alot of money, got my crusher evos at costco for $140 but note they are sold out sadly but ordered mine on there :) #Bassloversunite 😎 🎧 💀
It's finally time to give rest to my old Momentum 3. Now time for new one although I prefer button than touch , it is alright because now it support 96khz music quality. Thank you floss for early review
I really like these headphones Just couldn't live with the connectivity issues Traded them in for some Sony fives Sony's work flawlessly The momentums Are not as refined they need to fix the bugs
Great review man. I was sold on the Sony's (they are currently super sold out so don't have them yet), but man these guys may take the cake. I will need to find another video to really check the mic quality though, hoping to use these for the daily zoom meetings, Xm5's have been getting great mic reviews this year
What i want to know is what is the most durable headphones?? Who cares how good they are if they don't last more than a year or two. You should do a review on durability. Manufacturers make them sort of cheap so planned obsolescence is at play.
Any time you buy something with a battery, there’s only so long you can use it. They all go bad eventually. Also if ear pads aren’t replaceable, you’ll end up in the same boat. If you want something that will last the longest amount of time just look for wired and a Bluetooth dac amp that you can toss when it gets old.
Appreciate ya for a review! Got the Sennheiser HD4.50BT, they are great, but now I'm lookin forward to buying these 4's Have waited for a long time for these, since i havent appreciated the set of features 3's had, I just had no point in an upgrade. Since now Actually I had Momentum TW2's, they were great but im not really a fan of earbuds, soo 4's to go
Hey, quick question, because I’m considering getting those, compared to apples air pods pro Earbuds noise canceling performance, how do they perform? Just to have an idea of their “ok” anc capabilities
Yeah I love your reviews and bluntness, and I know build is all about personal preference. I disagree with the looks of the 4's . They look cheaper than the 3's, although the stainless-steel retro look is probably more niche. I understand their decision. Let me know if the battery life is as stated, because that alone would be worth it to most. But you should look up the Alienware AW920H, they have the same general design. The freaking crying baby killed me bro! XD🤣
Literally just bought the WH-1000XM5's today, and wasn't sure if I'd be keeping them. I'm pretty tempted to return them and wait for these to drop; save $50 as well.
Floss! Some questions on the Momentum 4: • Is there a quick charge option like Sony's XM5? • Are the ear cups as deep as the XM5's? • How good is the mic on calls?
Been watching EVERY single review since the Blu Vivo V that gold phone from about 2015 or so…. So it’s been about 7 years🙆🏽♂️ damn it’s been nearly a decade floss
My problem with Sennheizer is that cups are too small for my ears. They (ears)do not fully fit inside. No matter how good they sounds if ears start to hurt after one hour of listening. That`s why Sonny`s WH 1000 series are better for me - they have much bigger earcups.
I’ll probably hold onto my threes because I really want to get the high-end headphones that you reviewed I can’t remember the name of them but they beat out the AirPods Max
@@MonsieurGuy yes those ones thank you for that because I completely forgot the name of them but floss rated them very highly on his list he steered me towards the momentum threes when they came out and I have trusted him for over the earheadphones ever since.
Flossy: what are you doing? Daughter: I'm taking a dump! Flossy: can you go out of the bathroom so I could test these headphones and see how they sound?
Actually both sound good although Sony has that unique sound signature that everyone loves, it's transparent, detailed. The Sennheiser is more neutral now and took away the 2 layer warmth.
Your review is spot on, I already owed the Sony XM5's and wasn't looking to change headphones but your reaction to the sound quality made me buy a pair. Wow!! the sound is incredible, ANC is still very good but XM5's phone calls are the best. Sound quality is everything to me and already sold my XM5's...thanks bruh.
I used my warranty on my xm4 they pinched my ears. Sound was meh. Got this on release Dat an no regrets. Love the sennhieser soound. Way better base then Sony too.
Yo Floss I've lost track of how many of your vids I've watched and have come to a conclusion. They don't help me narrow down any damn choices cause I just wind up wanting every friggin thing you review lol. That being said I can't wait till you review the B&W PX7 S2's
@@FlossyCarter I finally got a chance to pit the Momentum 4 vs XM5. If you're interested at all I EQ'd the XM5 and they seemed to sound quite a bit better than the Senn to me at least. Clear Bass +3 400Hz at 0 1KHz at +6 2.5 KHz at +8 6.3 KHz at +5 16 KHz at +5 I know you stay real busy but if you wind up trying it out I'd love to hear what you think. Stay Flossy bro
The Sennheiser’s have way too many firmware issues imo. On head detection almost never works. Dropped connections and two instances where the headphones wouldn’t turn on at all, forcing a factory reset.
@@jpii8468 Yo bro, your Momentum 4 is still doing good? What about that disbalance between the earcups the SoundGuys lads talked about, have you experienced it? I'm still trying to decide between him and the MX4, will decide until tomorrow though.
@@matheusrodrigues2431 I've had no issues at all. I'm a BIG Sony and Bose fan (I also have the Sony MX3s and Bose 700s). The Momentum 4s are my favorite of the 3 by far. You can also connect them via USB to your laptop and they're near audiophile quality. Crazy battery life. Comfort. Call quality (the ability to adjust the 'Side Tone' so you can hear as much of your voice as possible is a game changer), double tap transparency mode so you can have a conversation without removing the headphones...all of it works and works WELL. My only gripe is with the app. I also have the TW3s (earbuds), and they both use the same app. I've ran into issues where my custom EQs have disappeared when switching from the 3s to the 4s.
@@jpii8468 what about the connectivity issues, when u put them in the case, do they randomly turn on ? or if you take out the headphones and put in on your neck, does it stop the music? And how about the bass, mids, treble? Im mainly looking to have bass headphones, but that doesnt mean i want poor mids and treble. to these sound good wirelless? Would mean a lot to me, hearing the person who has these headphones and their experience. ;)
Hay floss, just got a firmware update for my sennheiser momentum 4 wireless over ear headphones they went from a 3 band eq to a 5 band eq they are not playing they are on another level Dam peace to white shoes.🎉
@@FlossyCarter I just did. They sound terrible. They're muddy as hell and midrange is really thin. Female vocals are like fingernails on chalk board. That being said they were my first and only foray into over the ear Bluetooth headphones. I've owned decent wired headphones coupled with a good DAC and high res source material for years. These may be good for what they are but for half the price you can smoke them with a wired pair of cans with a cheap DAC.
You’re expecting Audiophile quality headphones for $400? Try the Sennheiser HD 820, and then come back when you see the price difference. These are Bluetooth headphones with ANC, there’s a huge difference in sound. To call them garbage means ALL headphones with ANC are garbage because they all sound like this or similar.
@@FlossyCarter I'm not sure you read my post. I was trying to replace AKG K712 and an audio quest dragonfly cobalt. Total price for both is $400. That combo absolutely destroys the momentum 4 for the same price and are not even close to "audiophile" gear. I guess I'll just have to deal with the cord. To be honest I don't care about ANC, just the freedom from the cord.
Why are all videos saying the build quality is luxurious or great? Since when is going from metal in the previous gen to plastic in the newer gen considered luxurious? Am I crazy or what?
Great review as always. I bought the Sony XM5s, I'm thinking now I should have bought these instead, the fit of the XM5s isn't that good for me. ANC isn't mind-blowing on the XM5, not as great as I was expecting. Might trade them in and buy these instead.
