Had the same trouble on a 9RT. Changed def filter, didn’t work. Deere came out and replaced the def pump, didn’t work. Changed the sock filter in the tank, didn’t work. DAYS LOST DURING PLANTING SEASON. Finally figured out the problem was the def pressure sensor.
Take the fill cap off the Def reservoir tank, stick an air wand in it, cover the hole with a rag and blow air into the tank a couple times. Had the same thing happen on a R4030 sprayer a few years ago. Pressuring the system with an air wand blew whatever clog was in the line out the system.
Don't apologize for losing your cool. Hell, that's part of the reason I subscribed to you. You tell it how it is and don't sugar coat. Real life isn't sweet all the time. Keep the MA rated videos comin! Thank you.
Had to replace the same pump on our CP690 last year. We checked the filter first but the pump fixed our problem. It was 2017 model but was covered under emissions warranty.
Don’t ya just love how John Deere has you try the 1,000 dollar part first then if that don’t work oh try the 70 dollar filter sock I wonder if that would have just fixed it the first time
All that work to get to the small $70 filter, the guy who designed that needs that curled thing shoved up his a--se. Man with those prices for Green parts, I'd be darn shore no crap gets into the tank when filling. I wonder if boat engines have all that computer and DEF stuff on them, Cos just imagine the codes coming up, the engine goes to reduced when your trying to get into harbour on a stormy night.
John deere can see if it's not burning def we deleted our jcb fastracs and the engine blew up under warranty and they gave us crap about it cuz it wasn't burning def
My L5P is the only piece of equipment we have right now with DEF, everything else is too old. I’m starting to look for tuners and delete kits to get rid of that stuff. That shit is corrosive if you spill it, you got to do something with the empty jugs, and it’s a maintenance pain in the ass. Anywho, glad you got your harvest done. Might have a dry week here so we might start corn. We’ll see.
That’s one reason why I run a 9600. Laugh at my old junk but I’m not fighting stupid idiotic crap like that. Your fit would have been nothing compared to cussing I would have been doing.
Would be ok but you can’t trade it back into Deere like that ... they would have to make def system functional again before they sell it to the next customer
Hopefully you didn't use the green anti freeze. My dealer tells me i can't run the green stuff in my def machines. Have to buy the orange. Which is even more money.
Completely agree with your after treatment gripe! I work with a lot of Caterpillar equipment & most all of our downtime is something emissions related. Those systems don't stand up in the harsh environment on heavy equipment.
Same with construction equipment in the UK. You used to be able to fix stuff, but the more shit you put in them, its just more to go wrong. I know performance and efficiency is better, but equipment ain't making any money if it's always getting fixed. Great content again dude.
Ok I watched the salford video first because as I commented I had just found your channel and said you seem a little tamer than what you do on TickTock but now I take that back glad to see the real you in this one 😂
Govt: "we need to cut down on emissions. Lets just inject fertilizer into the exhaust even though its another huge expense to the consumer and adds tons of plastic to the landfill"
Antifreeze... LOL.. 100% is about $17. A gallon no matter where you go around here.. freaking 50/50 shit is just as much.. because it's ready to use, you don't have to mix it🙄😂🤣 Thanks for the video Tony!!
70 dollars for that filter was crazy. By the way it looked 3 bucks was plenty for that. Since all this bs is mandatory why don’t the government pay for the DEF and the parts to fix it with. They would do away with it then
It was antifreeze lol. I work on the construction side of deere its not fun working on the def systems. And it will probably derate when it's low on antifreeze
The company i work for on one job we go through about 50gal a day and the shit sucks you really won't a good one look up what it is made of urea and water now tell me that is doing any good
Isnt that nice .We have this def shit on all our trucks at work and theres not a day goes by that one of them doesn't have a check engine lite on from a sensor or something to do with all this stupid emissions bullshit
Never take advice from a service manager at Deere for electronic stuff... go on agtalk.... I had turbo codes and service manger told me I needed 3500$ turbo and 1500 actuator... called next Deere store service manager transfered me to mechanic... he said change turbo actuator... I did it myself and it fixed it
Like ive said before my friend I appreciate the you talk, act in these videos you don't sugarcoat shit. I totally agree with you on this shit also I'm not a fan of the mandates
Typical government. Be glad your not in california. That damn carb board is nothing but a joke. I had a truck that derated on me. The mechanic said the problem was it needed to do a burn, I'm like fuck you did the seven one in two days. They ended up replacing the whole def system. Seems like since they started requiring this def shit more equipment is catching on fire. Wouldn't know why when it goes into a regen it's heating shit up to thousands of degrees, ya that's helping the environment burning all the crap off at once. I could go one and on about all the bullshit the government is requiring. Sorry for the mindless rant
You are 100% all non of the military equipment has def for that reason. But the every day citizen has to deal with it sucks being a diesel tech for 7 years I came into it no schooling as the shit was getting rolled out and what I a joke . Try keeping a 50l engine running 2500 horse power and 7500 ftlbs of torque def compliant not fun
It's actually because ultra low sulfur diesel isn't available always overseas meaning military equipment only needs to meet 1999 emissions. In Afganistan for example everything runs on JP8 which is high sulfur. Inside the U.S. though civilian vehicles that the military buys for domestic use meet current emissions.
No apology needed and I definitely think more people should document your experience/ frustration and expense on camera ... politicians mandate garbage like that to create a whole new industry and expensive garbage for the economic benefits... has nothing to do with the environment.... ohhh and btw engineering dept... that filter is entirely to small... it’s a combine that runs in dust all day... quite the geniuses lol... what’s wrong with a spin on filter outside the tank the size of a 2.5 gallon bucket... ohhhhh yes that doesn’t require a service call that costs 500$ lol... Democrat exhaust fluid ain’t it grand...
