Im currently looking to replace my very old car which ive owned for almost 10 years now. I hate looking for a replacement. I really dont enjoy the hunt. However ive narrowed the field down to 4 garages which i do feel i can trust. I know the type of car im looking for so at least the worst is over. I have seen some dreadful cars thus far and part of me will be glad when im done. I dont know how you can do this job, although your reviews certainly help

I have been doing the job for a long time now, this very car actually went to a client of mine earlier this year. It's hard work sometimes, but very rewarding. My e-mail address appears early on in the video should you wish to get in touch.

Helpful review. Thinking of one of these in the spec you've reviewed here. Good to know there are no major drawbacks. Rear headroom won't matter if it's toddlers in the back!

If you go for this 1.6 petrol, then you won't get a particularly exciting car, but you will get something that is reasonably dependable with plenty of equipment. I suppose that is all that matters! Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting.

@@lloydvehicleconsulting Think it would be the petrol, from what I've seen from owners the petrol can nearly match the economy of the diesel in the real world. Secondly the overall size of the s-cross is appealing. You only have to go one size up into the Sportage/Rav4 etc and all of a sudden you're struggling to fit in a modern car park space, let alone get the rear doors open properly for child access!

Oh yes, I would definitely go for a petrol S-Cross of this generation. They are a nice handy size, sort of equivalent to something like a SsangYong Tivoli or MG ZS.

Quite a pleasing design. Before all the radical angles, massive grilles and fussy lights took over. I like it. I don't know if I could live with the harsh ride though, and the rear interior is slightly on the Mr. Manning side of discomfort, at least for tall people. Thank you, sir!

The models without the panoramic sunroof do have a bit more headroom, but it was still a bit disappointing... The ride and handling balance is far better in the Vitara, for some reason, even if it is on the same platform!

An enjoyable review Sir, and a sensible car that will prove realible for many years to come.

Yes, particularly with this 1.6 four cylinder, they do seem to be very dependable cars. Thank you once again for watching, sir!

These have bullet proof reliability and make a great second hand buy.

Yes, the Vitara would be my preference, but as they are essentially the same car underneath, either is a good choice.

which engine in particular?
@bondjamesbond9041
@bondjamesbond9041 5 месяцев назад
@@solefreak2 1.6 normally aspirated or 1.4 boosterjet turbo petrol. Either are good engines but the latter turbocharged engine would be my preference due to its better refinement and performance.

Would you go auto or manual on the 1.6? @@bondjamesbond9041

Also noticed they do an All Grip, any issues with these or stick with the standard front wheel drive?@@bondjamesbond9041

The S Cross does seem very roomy and practical. The interior and facia of this SZ5 does look very upmarket. That 1.6 engine would be my choice with plenty of torque. What I love to hear is soft compliant suspension because that is always the best set up for ease of travel with comfort. I'm sure that a lesser model with the 1.6 would provide plenty of headroom without losing too much in the way of equipment.

I think the Vitara is a better car, as it most certainly has better handling, but it depends what you want, as these are a bit more spacious (if you do not have the sunroof). The facelifted cars, and the current generation S-Cross have a better interior, and the 1.6 is absolutely fine for either this or a Vitara.

Considered one of these as I needed to get a bigger car than my sx4 with a third child on the way. Went with a ssangong korando instead. Bigger, more powerful and cheaper
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 5 месяцев назад
The Korandos have not historically held their value very well, so they are very good value used. As you say, a good deal bigger than an S-Cross!

that isn't an aftermarket system, It is an OEM system. II do like these, preferably that metallic blue they did (or that green!)

I remember the blue, I can't quite remember the green.... Were they both facelift colours?

Saw one yesterday in a car park and wondered what it was. Must have been the low spec. It was silver and had rubber door protection down the sides that were unattractive discoloured by green lichen. My first impression was it was an ugly car. Maybe because it looked uncared for.
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 5 месяцев назад
I think that those side rubbing strips would have either been a dealer option or aftermarket. These early ones probably look a bit dated now.
