Is the same, darling. Maybe you can change the cleanser for micelar water.just use it like a regular cleanser, and wash it out.dont use cotton or some towel to take it off.
Wow an actual Australian dermatologist that actually can recommend products and health choices for people that don't cost an arm and a leg and can be purchased here! Thanks your awesome!
hey ,if anyone else wants to discover why is my skin always oily try Canny Cleanser Chart (just google it ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my partner got excellent results with it.
Sensitive Skin is a very common presentation. Extraordinarily complex, this video gives some insight as to the cause, and treatment. Cheers, Davin Lim. Brisbane. Austraila
Dr Davin Lim hello Dr Lim,I don't think we've been properly introduced.I'm Lindi,I take everything about skin and beauty seriously.I listen and I take notes and thank you for this information and you have a lovely weekend📝💕🙏🏾
Can only some parts of my face be sensitive?? Cause whenever I apply any " kind of " strong active, only a quarter of my smile line on one side gets very irritated when applied and dry, red painful for the following week, while the rest of my face stays there same.
2. I'm Indian originally and currently not employed. So I stay indoors literally all the time, but next to a window. Do I still need to wear sunscreen everyday??
3. Can you do a video on dry vs dehydrated vs thin skin?? I don't know what it is but I have extremely one of the above long of skin from my knees down and nowhere else.
4. When you or generally people talk about hyperpigmentation, it is usually about scars from past acne. And occurs as spots. What I want to know is, what about huge patches of darkened skin?? Like inner thighs or groin or underarms?? It's not because of sun damage, cause it's much worse. What can be done about this??
@@datgreekgal pretty simple!! i have a normal to oily skin...i wake up cleanse my face w/ mild cleanser->the ordinary hyaluronic acid as moisturiser->zince sunscreen if im stepping out->the ordinary niacinimide/alpha arbutin if im just staying at home(for my pores and comodone)->mild cleanser before bed and thats it for my daily routine.. the ordinary peeling solution twice a week->derma roller 1.5 mm once a week( i have really bad scarring from acne but derma roller has been a miracle..great improvement for acne scars, texture and hyperpigmentation lets say about 80% improvement in a span of 3 months) overall i feel like derma roller is what made a huge transitioning from my really bad skin to a much clearer porecelain glass skin
@@kimdahyun2893 thank girlie! I don't have acne scarring, but now you tempted me to try it🤔 I know that it's good for antiageing and overall skin glow, but I'm afraid of its hygiene
@@datgreekgal youre right derma rolling can be very dangerous unless you follow the proper steps(like cleaning the derma roller w/ alchohol, lifting the roller with each roll, avoiding excessive/improper use etc)if you have only superficial skin problems like pores, hyperpigmentation, texture irregularities theres really no need for longer needles like 1mm....0.5 should do the job as it also enhance serum absorbtion...talkin bout two birds w/ 1 stone ;)...in the end nothing could go wrong if you know what youre doing
Hi my oily sensitive reacts by breaking out, itching, or hyperpimentation. I can't stand (skin on my face) all essential oils, perfumes, all the flower waters, drying alcohol, tap water, too much glycerin in a product, AHA in leave on products except for Azelaic acid, Vitamin C, all oils I have tried except for Shea Butter... I also break out quickly if I don't wash my makeup brushes or change my pillow cases every other day. A few examples of the things I have noticed over the years by myself with no help of the many Dermatologists I have seen unfortunately. When you have oily skin they don't seem to think your skin could also be sensitive!
I’m living proof that oily skin can be sensitive and problematic. Also, it took me nearly 60 years to realize that I needed a simple, fragrance-free moisturizer. It actually helps keep the oil at bay. Mine has shea butter and niacinamide. Works wonders for me, but not for everyone. Best wishes.
@@TRWoods914 Yes you always assume sensitive skin is dry but not always! there is 3 of us out family of 5 that have it, my daughter and grandaughter have very sensitive skin so def genetic in my family.
hey dear i also had a oily skin i use neem soap and i rub tomato on face daily at mornonig and at bed time and i am very happy with it you also try my dear god bless you.
I feel like my skin is very comparable to your skin. I was doing fine until an esty administered an “non peeling” peel; my skin has been crazy ever since
I'm coming to see you doctor Lim and you're going to fix my skin and change my life 😁 I'm speaking it into existence! I believe I'm going to meet you one day.
Found this very informative for us gals with sensitive skin. Question: What type of laser tools (IPL - CO2/erbium, Non-ablative, etc) would you use on facial sun spots -??? Thank you so much! Love ❤ your videos ~ fan for life 🙂 Cheers 🍹
A thousand thanks. Just the amount of information needed to move forward with my sensitive skin journey. Cool shower, 2-3 minutes max, is a good start.
nizoral shampoo as a face mask! (make sure u rly hydrate ur skin after tho - it helps if moisturize it while it's wet so the moisture locks in) also the sa lotion by cerave
Personally, I find most physical sunscreens way, way too heavy for my skin. It sits on top, contributing to even more heat on my rosacea skin, it traps the heat and prevents my skin from cooling down by way of sweating. Nano zinc is better, but albeit so rare in sunscreens.
Dr Lim, would you also classify sensitive skin as skin that shows no noticeable signs of irritation, but just does not feel right; such as mild tightness, and even slight burning when even the most irritant free products are applied to the skin? It seems like no matter what products I use, my skin just does not feel right. Anyhow, as always, thanks for a another very informative video!
My daytime skin care is just face cleanser. I don't use moisturizers and sunscreen. I only use zinc-based sunscreen when I'm at the beach. I use a umbrella or cap daily when I'm going out. The weather here in the Philippines is hot and humid. Dermatologists here do not recommend applying moisturizers on oily skin. I followed them and my skin calmed down, less breakouts and less clogged pores. Minimal skin care is the way for me.
Hey dr Lim, I use purpose cleanser I hope that's ok. I use a powder sunscreen 30 because it doesn't seem to irritate my skin. My problem is my neck, it super sensitive and I can't find products that my neck likes. I lost weight and not liking the way my neck is really looking!! Is there a way to firm the neck with out doing surgery and what creams are easy on the neck area. What a great video!!
I have sensitive everything, at this point, to oily food I can’t eat because I will feel sick, I can’t wear makeup, the first time I put some on I noticed that I was having an allergic reaction, I have sensitive hearing, I can almost relate to anyone, not because of personal experience well half of it is related to experience, it’s weird. I am sensitive to lights, and to some bright colors, why I’m confused tho for my skin is that I don’t have dry skin, tho I always take really hot showers, I do avoid the stuff that my skin can’t handle. tho I do have sun-patches like it’d noticeable in hot water, can’t use body softener tho I don’t even know why I have it. Sensitive teeth, sensitive to smell, to taste, to literally anything 😒😒. And I hate it 😞😞.
Thank-you so much. You mention things like showers/shampoo/low % etc which are great everyday tips for managing sensitive skin. My reacts and I don't know why so I wish I lived in Australia so I could book an appointment! You sound so thorough and that's what I would want...to get to the reason why my skin reacts/is sensitive and the correct ways to treat it. Thank-you for your video today
The Jane Iredale tinted moisturizer I had actually contained lavender oil. Bottom line, don’t assume any product from anyone won’t react with your skin and check the ingredients label first. The company that carried the Jane Iredale product was very good about allowing a return.
Dr. Lim you are the laser wizard!!! So glad to see this new video from you. I’ve never had rosacea in my life and I’m pushing 67. I’m going through incredible stress that isn’t going away any time soon and viola! I have rosacea! Your information is so valuable. Thank you♥️
Do you mean moisturizer first then spf? If yes, then the answer is yes. Wash your face, when the skin is wet immediately put on moisturizer. Then wait a bit. Let your face air dry. When your face is dry yet nicely moisturized put of your sunscreen.
Dr, i'm getting a lot of pimples and darkspots on my forehead and the are increasing day by day. I'm so scared ! What if it spreads all over face ? 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I really need your help
Will my sensitive skin go away? Everything makes me breakout and im tired of it. Even my non scented detergent makes me break out when I lay on my pillowcase. I change my pillowcase every night. My dermatologist doesn't share any good information about what to do to help with my sensitive skin. I've had several dermatologists and they all sucked. Please help me 😫
I have very sensitive skin that gets red and itchy upon making contact with any chemical. I've been taking zyrtec for it. Any other recommendations besides being stuck on allergy meds??
You are right, every responsible dermatologist should care when the patient has sensitive skin. I have a sensitive seborrhoea sicca and told the doctor a few times before my fractionl co2 treatment. The aftercare he gave me made my skin break out very badly. Afterwards the cream i got against the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation gave me a rush so my face is now completly covered with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Dr. Lim, you talk about skin on the face, but what about sensitive skin all over your body. I itch so badly and the results are patches of rash/eczema. I take Allegra every day to control the itch and topical steroid for the rash. It hasn’t been affective.
I can't say about the medication part but I can say about the moisturizer part. As mentioned in the video hot showers are a no no. Use a fragrance free body wash. After done bathing/showering immediately put on a fragrance free moisturizer to the soaking wet skin. It will help with dryness and itching to great extent. Also limit your showering/bathing.
Thank u Dr.. My skin is extremly reactive ..it can even react to hot temperature it gets red and hot..and i cant go for any cleanser, vit c ,any fairness cream...sensitive products are hard to find..
Thank you, Dr. Lim. We need you here in the USA. I’m supposed to be referred to a specialist for pulsed dye laser, but my paperwork must have gotten misplaced. Still waiting. I’m an acne rosacea patient, but my skin is calm now because of my own dermie, you and Dr. Dray. Also, Dr. Sam’s gel cleanser and moisturizer are really helping me, along with my prescriptions and mineral sunscreen. Not bad for almost 60 years old. 👍🏻 Thanks again for the tips. Kindest regards from Louisiana.⚜️
But i have acne scarring and was recommended to use physical exfoliater and i have extremely sensitive skin. Omg my skin is just never going to get better 😔
What would you recommend to exfoliate the body and remove fake tan? I have been using an exfoliating mitt but seem to be developing broken capillaries. Thanks
Thank you for this video so helpful. I have very sensitive skin on my face it runs in my family i think because asthma is riddled in my family and i think that and sensitive skin linked. I have Roseaca too. Would love normal skin😕
i would love to see a video of what to do with sevrely acne prone skin but also severely sensitive skin? I think a lot of people would find that very helpful! xo
I’ve been using MooGoo’s oil cleanser for about 5 years now. My skin suddenly developed extreme sensitivity to all other cream or gel cleansers. They always left my skin unbelievably red and raw. I tried so many cleansers - even ones that said they were for sensitive skin.
Alexandra Donnelly Try not to use any cleanser in morning, wash your face with warm water only and if your skin is oily, wash T-zone or nose with gentle cleanser. When choosing cleanser, cleansing milk is usually more gentle than cleansing gel/cream/foam. And better look for dermatologist recommended brand such as La Roche-posay, Avene, Uriage, Cerave and Noreva etc
I have hot wired red raised wrinkly patches after using tretinoin 0.05% I have used it before but I used it after 6-7 months . The patches are below my eye bags around the nose. Please help!!!
As a Pharmacist I see patients coming to us as well with sensitive skin. Often they use very harsh products (like physical scrubs) and products full of fragrance. I like recommending La Roch Possay - they have reasonable prices and the whole range for sensitive skin. Starting with a very simple routine. Visit to a Doctor if it's quite bad or if change of routine didn't make much of a difference. Great video Dr Lim.
@@normakarina5123 have you tried La Roche Posay - they have the whole line dedicated for sensitive skin - Toleriane and many products for dry skin which are also designed for sensitive skin. For body I would recommend Lipikar from LRP. They do body wash, body lotion and also a soap bar. Really great. You can also try CeraVe wash and cream. Really good too, but not as moisturising as LRP. Hope it's helpful
Some people can be allergic to niacinamide. I use the same product without any issue. P.S- yes, niacinamide can be an active like in The ordinary niacinamide+zinc solution. Don't know if it's the active in cerave as they don't mention it, but i guess it is.
Dr. Davinlim I used physical sunscreen(Ekran Silicon sunscreen SPF 50) today and it also reacted very badly on my skin. 😢 Nothing works on my skin even physical sunscreen nor chemical sunscreen. My face is totally red and burning and feeling itchy. Im tried of trying things. Its been more than 7 years im suffering even though i went to dermatologist.
My sensitive skin is so bad on my legs and arms that whenever I shower, it itches so bad and its sometimes really painful if I dont itch it, and sometimes when I even do itch it its still really stings. It's gotten worse from when it started because it used to be just on my legs but now its also on my arms and even if im not showering it will happen. There is no visible rash or redness. Since quarantine started, I've been showering maybe once a week because I dread the shower. I don't take long showers, and I have been starting to make the showers quicker and more cool. Any help or anybody else experiencing this?
Hi Dr. Lim, what about people who’s skin becomes extremely itchy? No changes in daily routine including food, soap or medication. My entire body will itch and burn. I do have eczema on my hands and feet. Thank you for sharing xoxo roseingeorgia
My combined skin is becoming sensitive type 😢 I went to my dermatologist for acne problem and the cleanser he recommended, that's really making my skin irritating... My skin has became dry as hell.. and he asked me to not use moisturizer. But I use a very small amount of glycerin. Cause my skin gets really dry and stretchy...
Good tips,I am very sensitive, but I actually find a chemical sunscreen for the face that's hyperalegenic and fragrancefree much better,I use soltan sensitive face spf50.I found physical suncream very heavy and caused breakouts, it also is harder to clean off, which if your subbing face to long can aggravate flareups,I think I've mild rosacea on cheeks to,so less rubbing the better!I think always aim for spf especially for the face the boxy ones to heavy and can have harsher ingredients.
Cetaphil is like the only one that doesn’t irritate my face because when I use any other one broken blood vessel show thru my skin this how sensitive my skin is
Vitamin c and niacinamide don't go together. You can use HA with pretty much anything. Use vit c during daytime, under your sunscreen. Use vit B3 during nighttime.
Hello! Here let me help you 🙂 Am routine: Cleanse Moisturize (on wet skin) Sunscreen (wait a bit for your face to dry, then apply). PM routine: Oil cleanse Water based cleanser Moisturize (on wet skin) Actives (like lactic acid, retinols, azelaic acid etc). Some actives like niacinamide, Hyaluronic acid can go before your moisturizer on wet skin. You really don't need to use vitamin c as it oxidises quickly and does a very little for your skin with a jacked up price. I hope it was helpful 🙂
Thank you Doctor for all your information and great tips Can you please name the Products available for sensitive skin and in what order to use them Ingredients on products are often in very small script and it’s difficult to remember what is good and what is not Many Thanks
Hello dr Davin . I have rosace but not all the time . I m 50 and i want To ask What are the serum anti aging can i use please thank you very much from Canada 😊
I have also sensitive to acne prone skin I’m using sukin blemish control n a face pack contains fuller earth rose water n honey but acne goes but starts again for example if it’s happens one side of forehead or cheek the remedy cure but occurs on other side. Please suggest a good skin care routine. Also what product I should use? Please reply
Top that: I have an oily, dehydrated, acne prone, porous, and extremely sensitive skin. If I wanna combat blemishes, it gets very dry. If I wanna combat aging and wrinkles, I wind up with pimple or even worse; cystic pimple. No amount of products nor laser helped out.
Preservatives like parabens keep our skincare products mould free, unlike Herbivore’s all natural approach. The moisturisers you listed have preservatives, I’ve haven’t heard a dermatologist mention the low risk of parabens before. Surprised.
Good Day Doctor! I've suffered from severe acne and my dermatologist prescribed Adapalene 0.1% + Benzoyl peroxide 2.5% (Epiduo Gel) and I've been using it for more than a year now. My skin is clearer now. I am using Cetaphil for my cleanser and moisturizer, I stapled Epiduo to my skin care routine because I am afraid my acne will come back if I stop using it. By chance, is it safe if I shift from Epiduo Gel to Benzac? Hoping for your response. Thank you.
