Fantabulous As always Nick! The Recovery from Sensorimotor OCD requires a lot more inclination towards acceptance rather than exposures and giving too much importance to the sensation itself My biggest reassurance/compulsive statements about my breathing OCD is that I'll breath in another way like keeping my mouth open or by using the tongue to kind of make the air flow so that i wouldn't have to notice that constant pumping of air through my nostrils and feeling that pressure inside my neck when we breath in the most common way

hey what are the number of worries u have like breathing,blinking .Can u tell me for what time u had those worries and how much time u had each worry (like breathing,blinking).

Absolutely! It's really good you caught that! I see this all the time working with sensorimotor sufferers. Those self - reassuring statements that are so sneaky.

Another one I get is brain fog and real difficulty articulating my thoughts cause my head is so heavy. Words just don’t flow naturally and I feel that head discomfort too often. Being like this forever would suck

Hey! Yes, it wouldn't be fun, for sure, but you can definitely break down some of the hatred towards it. I thought I couldn't either.

What's sucky about it? Usually it comes to fear of embarrassment/shame etc. Also if you type in "brain fog OCD recovery" in the RU-vid search bar, you'll find a video by Kirsty on brain fog too on this channel.

Hey nick I can see myself progressing towards unconditional life acceptance and I am getting better day by day. I am having better days now. Can you make one video on how to hold on to your new belief and make it sustainable for lifetime?
@aguywhohikes1271
@aguywhohikes1271 Год назад
Absolutely! That's a great video idea.
@mominmasood
@mominmasood Год назад
That also sounds like a question coming from a place of fear. "What if I relapse, what if I'm not able to accept forever". Life comes with ups and downs, OCD or not. Accepting the ups and downs is important too. Key is to stay persistent.

Hi nick hope you’re well. You mention in this video you will be making a video more focused on hyper awareness of consciousness and thoughts which is what I suffer with. Have you done this vid yet and if so which one is it? If not, no worries I will hang on for it 😊

Hi Nick, thank you so much for your videos they’ve been helping me greatly. I have a question that I hope you have time to help me with. I finally understand one of the core fears of my breathing ocd and it’s the worry that I’m breathing too much. Do you have any advice on how to get over that fear? I don’t care if I breath too little and the awareness isn’t that much anxiety inducing anymore. It’s the fear of unknowingly/knowingly breathing too much… hyperventilating scares me
@aguywhohikes1271
@aguywhohikes1271 Год назад
Hey AJ! So I would first look at one of two things, A) is there a fear relating to breathing to much and or causing a health problem B) Could the primary fear still be noticing your breathe, manually, forever. It could be combination of both! Leaning into those sensations fully without needing an answer whether we are breathing too much is KEY!

Terrific video as usual Nick. Thank you. I developed OCD 3 months ago and without your videos i am pretty sure i would have gone crazy :) Quick question: Did you every try Acceptance and Commitment Therapy? When you start searching for OCD a lot of the ressources mention ACT and recommend that whenever your intrusive thoughts / sensations pop up throughout the day, that you "accept" them by telling yourself something like "i accept my intrusive thought/sensations..." - that sounds very compulsive to me though. Since i just started the the ocd recovery journey (thanks to your videos) a lot of the times i am still not sure when i do something if it is compulsive or not.
@aguywhohikes1271
@aguywhohikes1271 Год назад
Hey Buddy! I am really happy to hear my videos have been helpful :-) So yes, ACT principles have a lot of applicability when it comes to OCD/ anxiety recovery, but usually OCD sufferers need more depth when it comes to acceptance.

If it’s not exposure. It’s wearing that uncomfortable jacket. But that’s exposure in itself no? You expose yourself not on purpose but that’s just how the Brain operates right? Could you help answer that?
