I substitute taught quite often in the elementary school where the boys attended in the tiny village of Morenci. I taught the class Andrew was in on Valentine’s Day (a couple months after he and his brothers went missing). SO sad! His desk was still there like he was going to come back any day and the thoughtful teacher and sweet students had a bag up for him to receive valentines just like all the other students. 😢

I knew of a kid from a family of successful, good-looking, athletic people. This kid was sort of a misfit: awkward and unattractive. He was always treated with disdain by his parents, brothers, and sisters. He killed himself in his early teens. (If I remember correctly, he put a bag over the family car's exhaust pipe and then put his head in the bag.) After he killed himself, his parents and siblings all acted like they were glad to be rid of him. They wanted their family to project a certain image, and he didn't fit that image.

The 2012 movie "Ticket Out" (Ray Liotta, Alexandra Breckenridge) is about a clandestine group that assists mothers or fathers to escape from bad spouses with their children. I immediately thought of this movie when you said that was John's excuse for where the children were. You're probably right, I wouldn't doubt he came up with that story from watching a movie!
@michaelgreer9023

Once, while going to the theater to see "Ticket Out," a man told me to act so that there is no use in a center. Confused I asked him about the clandestine groups that assist children who are not wanted. At that point he remarked, "A wide action is not the same as a width." Have any clue what that is about?

@@bthomson hmm. You make a good point but I also wonder about the dynamic of their relationship too, I could imagine she may not have had a whole lot of choice when it came to what He Who Must Be Obeyed wanted, not just in this specific instance but in general. I mean, dude ‘disappeared’ the boys and then spent years coming out with these obviously false stories. It feels a lot like a huge part of why he did whatever it was he actually did with them was specifically to cause their mother the maximum amount of pain and trauma. ‘I’ve taken your children from you permanently and you’ll never know what happened to them, you’ll never get that peace of mind’ is the ultimate mindgame to play on a mother. It’s the ultimate power play and the ridiculous stories are designed to twist that knife just that bit more. He’s a horrific, disgusting human being.

Super good point: When families are breaking apart it is dangerous. It is also dangerous when a certain type of man has acquired a new and/or younger lover, because he is trying to escape and he is particularly dangerous like the high school coach/teacher in Houston who murdered his pregnant wife and the guy who killed his pregnant wife and her body and the baby’s body were found in the saltwater in California.

Yes I would love a thorough psychological analysis on why certain types of cheating men (in particular) become homicidal or feel the need to rid of their “past life” specifically killing children in order to start “afresh”, It would be helpful to understand the thinking behind this kind of extreme possessive behaviour.

It's one thing (and quite disturbing on its own) when an emtionally imbalanced person in a stressful moment might take the life/lives of his loved ones, especially his or her own offspring; but to plan it out before hand and go to the lengths that this individual has gone to, using the narratives he's developed (in his own defense) .... I don't know what "crazy" really means but as a homo sapien these kind of individuals seem to be disturbed in a most profound way.

I agree, however this is certainly and tragically not a unique case (I.e Chris watts or murder suicides) where we see fathers premeditate the murder of their own children. It would be worthwhile for medical and crime experts to look into and develop a more thorough understanding to explain this seemingly “quiet long lasting rage”.

I have a real issue with the boys mother calling sexual contact with a 14 year old a mistake. That's not something you can minimize into something as simple as a mistake. A mistake is grabbing the wrong cereal at the store. You don't mistakenly seduce a minor. But with the amount of lies the father went through I also have a tough time believing him when he claimed she was assaulting their sons, it seemed like a last ditch effort to turn the attention away from himself. Every video you make is just so great, please never stop! 🥰💕🤩

Topic recommendation: Melinda Elkins Dawson. She solved two mysteries in her life. The first is the mystery of who killed her adoptive mother and attacked her niece. Her husband was convicted and she knew he didn’t do it and made it her mission to prove him innocent by finding the real killer. Which she did. Then after she got her husband free, she found her biological family. She was a Hicks Baby and was sold through an illegal adoption by a Dr Hicks in Ohio. There were many babies sold through illegal adoptions he brokered. Not all have found their biological families. Hicks was an extremely shady person but is long dead.

Your videos are excellent, and your explanations make sense. This video hits a little bit close to home. I was made a single father when my wife left me with two children. I had some very, very low moments for the year or so after that happened. I was barely holding it together, but I made it okay and my children grew up just fine.

Still awake. Another balanced thorough analysis! I am always ready to visit your neat and brilliant mind!☀️ Question: May I ask a survivor question? I read severe trauma stunts the emotional development and maturity of a person to the age level when the trauma occured. Trauma creates a "soul wound"/a "emotional wound". This often cripples the development and maturity of the person. The best remedy for full recovery and useful healing is licensed mental health therapy. Do you have case studies for this type of trauma/complex trauma? Sorry to ask. Thank you for your channel, hard work, and responsible understanding of mental health.💫

Millions and millions of people split up under tough tough situation. But millions of millions of people don't plan out how to kill their wife or their children as revenge. Or whatever excuse they want to use. They may hurt themselves some but they may get professional help or end up in jail. But this is wild. And tragically sad also.

DR. Grande- please look into the case of Bartley Dobben. He took his 2 boys- 2 yr. old Bartley and 13 month old Peter on Thanksgiving day, 1987 and put them into an industrial ladle and then into an industrial furnace, killing them both. The father never went to prison as he was diagnosed w/ schizophrenia and paranoia.

@@LizbetPCB - He worked at that foundry and knew it was down for that 4 day holiday, so he stops by, fires up the furnace and puts the boys into the ladle. As he was leaving the plant after killing those 2 babies, he casually told the security guard that he had just killed his sons and the police needed to be called. Truth.

Timothy Pitzen case maybe. In that case the mother took the child and ran off then he disappeared, she killed herself and left info saying the child was being 'looked after' by 'new parents'.

While I do believe this man killed his children, I did want to say the Amish community (obviously not speaking for all of them, there are MANY different types of Amish) do sometimes take in unknown children and raise them as their own. A boy I grew up with, parents were going through a really ugly divorce when we were 7-8 years old. His father left him with an Amish community during the divorce and custody battle. Told them his mother was “unfit”. Sadly his mother didn’t put up any fight and that boy ended up living with the Amish until his adulthood.
