Here in Florida, she was past 18 years of age when she committed the murder. We recently gave a 16-year-old who brutally stabbed a 13 year-old 114 times, a girl, 25 to Life. He won't get out in 25. We don't want him out! Look up the Aiden Fucci trial.
Nope in between her father paid for her bond and Sydney went straight to mental hospital there they diagnosed her with mental health problems I guess that's why.if not the judge can't just go against the juror like just like the court can't seen Sydney to mental hospital on their own.

Why does this judge sound almost apologetic while delivering her sentence. Bludgeoning and stabbing your own mother to death but you are being treated like you are the victim 😮. 15 to life. 15 years is the minimum time she can get. Usually, parole boards do NOT let killers like this out in the minimum time. Betty Broderick killed her ex and his new wife in 1989, upon provocation, and she got 30 years to life, AND, she is STILL in Prison!
Hopefully they do not allow her out in 5 for good behaviour. Maybe she will go off on a prisoner for not believing her lies and her world of make believe. Maybe she only goes off on those closest to her that she wants to believe her made up stories. No community letters supporting the prosecution and the jury were allowed? That's sickening. They would have been way more numerous than the family's. I cannot believe the prosecutor is the only one who is concerned for Miss Brenda. As a mother of two boys, one who had despised me for trying to steer them on the right path. He has since verbalized that he knew I was just trying to protect him. I don't know her, but I feel for Miss Brenda. The family appeared not to have cared about Miss Brenda, but there are people who do. This is going to be a measuring stick for children who purposefully kill their parents. I really don't want people like her around to cause more havoc. She will send message to other children who think of their parents , especially their mom. Didn't she get life with the possibility of parole AFTER serving 15 years (mandatory of 15 to life)? If that's correct she has to serve at least 15 and, there will be no getting out after 5, or any other number other than 15. 15 is still not enough years for committing murder...of anyone. She may, or may not, get out of prison when she will be 34 and, if she does get out at 34 she will most likely have at least that many years left to live outside of prison. There should be much stricter laws when it comes to murder of family members, especially family of the home....parents and siblings.
15 to life with the other charges running concurrent to that. Which means if she behaves herself in prison and goes up before the parole board in 15 years they can let her go. It makes sense that her Mom was a child specialist but couldn't raise her own child properly. Parents, nowadays, receive THE WORSE advice to discipline our children. This sentence was soft & not justice! It's not surprising given that this marshmallow of a judge coddled & showed favoritism towards Miss Powell throughout this trial. This judge gave Miss Powell permission to leave the actual courtroom during the trial when evidence of her murderering her own devoted & loving mom would be too emotional for her to bear. Seriously? Due to her fake schizo defense... She was too fragile? I appreciate this prosecution & jury who did not get sucked in to Miss Powell's victim performance. This sentence was NOT comparable to what someone else, who was not a young white entitled female like Miss Powell (a convicted brutal & rage-filled murderer of her own devoted mom) would have received. Not even close. This sentence is not justice for all!

As a mom who loves her kids dearly and a person in a community of faith, my wishes would be that I wanted to be alive and living to forgive a child their trespasses. If I was brutally beaten and stabbed, there needs to be justice in this world and the next. I would vehemently hope my husband puts MY life as valuable and meaningful that he would allow the state to prosecute at the very least. I concur with others here. I feel so badly for her mom and dad. What her mom went through during the horrific pain she suffered, fully knowing that it was her baby who was killing her, I can't fathom the horror...I hope as this young woman sits in prison, that she relives what she did every day and realizes that it was her and only her who caused this end to her mother's life. Sidney Powell should have really been locked up in the city jail, because now, Sidney Powell is going to have a difficult time adjusting to her new life Behind Bars for the rest of her natural life. She was permitted 20 white her trial on bond, and she was allowed to live with her grandparents / dad. I do realize that this whole process has been difficult for Sydney's father and that only is a widower now, but also he is the victim of his wife's murder caused by Sidney Powell.. irregardless of same murderous crime Sydney Powell chose to act upon her intentional, and heinous crime of murder to take her own mother's life, because for certain, Sydney knew that both of her parents little bit a little bit learning the truth about her dishonesty oh, and her haven't been expelled from college. Anyone would have been Dilaudid to have been delighted to attend college on a scholarship, but Sydney Powell went down the wrong road to destruction, and should not only murdered her own mother, but now, Sydney, Sydney has destroyed her own life, and her family's lives as well. She does not suffer from any kind of mental defect, or mental disease. There are so many people whom commit crimes, and attorneys appointed by the public defenders ofc to represent these defendants, it becomes real easy for those public defenders attorneys to go the easy route, and go on the so-called the insanity defense. Well, a hardship in one's life whether it be insignificant, or more drastic situations oh, there still is no excuses to go down the destructive throat, as Sidney Powell, now is going to spend the rest of her natural Life Behind Bars, and without the possibility of parole, or with the possibility of parole after 15 years served. However, the honorable Judge who presided over the, Sydney Powell's trial, she knows that, Sidney Powell, will never be released from prison. Irregardless of a 15-year to life imprisonment, it will not qualify for her to be released from prison. 15 years to life only names that after serving 15 years she will be eligible only for a parole hearing. However, in Sydney cows mind,, she may be thinking that she will automatically be released from prison, but woe to her, because she will be mistaken that the Prison Walls, and the atmosphere of a darkened environment living among inmates just like her she will have to accept her punishment of the crime that she committed. And she whined and cried in court, and shedding those crocodile tears as usual, and displaying her frown on her face from the beginning of her trial to the end of her trial oh, well, she will find out fast that the prison guards, and this well, State Prison Warden oh, and also, especially the inmates are not going to tolerate her frowns and her continual pouting. These prison guards only job is to secure the inmates oh, that they are all protected from other inmates, and to keep the inmates in line, and to make sure that each inmate is following the rules of the prison.. once saved a Powell is assigned to her permanent home, or the prison she will start serving her sentence after going through a series of evaluations to determine her classification as a inmate. It was not appropriate That Sidney Powell was allowed to live with her grandparents/father, instead of being locked up. Many dependents do not have that privilege of waiting their trial on bond. Realistically, signore Powell's father should had imposed a bone Sydney that since she committed a murder escribe as of murdering her own mother, she needed to pay the consequences for her Indulgence to commit a crime. A punishment is no punishment if the guilty party is allowed to wait her trial for the past 3 years, and when she was convicted, that was when her bond was revoked oh, and she had to report to the city jail until she is transferred into the Department of Corrections. Sidney Powell has created for her family a difficult process and knowing that Sydney, consciously murdered her own mother. Life is going to be difficult for, Sidney Powell, because these past 3 years she had never been locked up in the city jail, and because of this, Sydney will have a difficult time adjusting to a different kind of life, that she will never again have the freedom to live at home with her family.. there should never have been Allowed by the judge to have granted a bond. She should have really spent these past 3 years locked up. Any other defendant would not have had that privilege to White his or her trial, and then their sentencing while remaining at home. Sidney Powell is just a spoiled,, and stubborn young lady. She will have plenty to think about, as time passes, the only thing that will be on her mind eventually as she sits in her prison cell looking at the four walls, that will be when the fact that she murdered her own mother will hit her in the face big time. There are always consequences for everything we do in life whether it is good or bad. I just pray to God that he will protect her from the other inmates, and then she we'll find a way in some small way to participate in programs that will help her to turn her life around. Her only hope is in Jesus Christ. Although, she may not realize it now, but eventually she may call upon the Lord. For survival. Not that God will release her from her criminal act, but that as she accepts her punishment for having committed a crime, that, Sidney Powell well as the Lord to forgive her of her sins, and that she will accept Jesus Christ as her personal savior. I just pray that as time passes by, and as Things become easier for her, that she herself will become a positive role model, as she begins to turn her life around for the good. Only time will tell.
