The compassion, and respect of this judge towards the victims during their impact statements… should be the gold standard that all judges should follow in these circumstance, which has destroyed these families forever.
Absolutely, it's sad that the husband family is angry with the daughter-in-law's family. When it was Jason that acted in an evil that took the life of the lives.
You kill a pregnant woman- you rot in jail. Endangering all those people and other children including his own - rot in jail and I don’t care about mental health. It might be the reason but it does not excuse his behavior.
Totally agree....I'm tired of mental heath being used as justification to take lives. It has gotten completely out of control. My coworker was choked to death by her son who refused to take his medication. Now that he's incarcerated and fully medicated, he's remorseful...but that still leaves his mother dead.
As long as these rules are applied to all. However I agree 100 percent. No excuses for anyone. But judges have the discretion to sentence and to often they are biased with to many cases. Especially if it is someone if money, power and political influence.

This monster killed his sister and her husband because she was a good aunt to his kids! The monster 13 year old son called his Aunt Mercedes and askdd her to come pick him and his siblings up because the monster and his girlfriend were fighting! The kids did not feel safe so being the good Aunt she picked them up! The monster demanded she bring them back and she rightfully refused! God what a sad horrible tragedy! In my view is was jealous of how the families looked up to them even his own child. And the fact that they now was having a family of their own. He was envious of that’s the one thing they had never achieved. His own son went to them for guidance. And the poor son called him by his first name. Yeah jealousy does kill. Prayers for all of the families. If they stole from him or they got in an argument he would state that. But a coward will never say I envied them.
It’s none of your business or the courts you just want to know what he would say. I’m sure he still talks to his children while he’s incarcerated so mind your business and stop being nosy and judging someone because you don’t 1 more thing to talk about and Judge anything concerning this case.
@Brook-ct3kk not believing in the death penalty is a perfectly reasonable position for obvious reasons, but let's not pretend like you can't understand why people would think the death penalty is more than appropriate here. You don't have to agree with it but pretending like you don't get why someone would want it for someone like this is just playing dumb and ridiculous.
Being alive might seem more punishment than dead. With death it ends in seconds, with life you just existing with almost no purpose except to use the time for atonement before God's judgment (if you believe in God).

I really think this judge did a great job,I feel that he really did consider everything, not to mention he treated everyone with respect, including the defendant, and ultimately made the right decision.
No he didn’t. Why wouldn’t he let them look at the defendant and say what they needed to say they’re not talking to the court they’re talking to him so he did a terrible job in my opinion. Foh

This is one of the hardest cases I've ever seen! There are no words to describe the heartbreak I feel for Mrs. Iverson! She was so heartbroken after losing her daugter, her son-in-law and her unbor granddaughter! And now her son the defendant! I think of Job in the Bible who lost his family and yet still loved God! Are you people are always judging someone and forcing your opinions on everyone else, but the fact of the matter is most of the time regardless of what someone does they support their family member they don’t just disown them and never talk to them or see them again I’m sure his family visit him send him money etc. and they will continue while he’s in prison
It is a strange phenomenon. I guess misplaced pain. My parents will never forgive the parents of the guy that killed my sister. Even barring his Mom from attending the funeral. She and my sister were close and was suffering from the physical loss of my sister and the pain of the conflict of her son being the cause

I and the victim’s children were kids when my parent killed its partner & her children holds a grudge against me and my siblings even talks of retaliation after 30+ years

So the female cousins got into a fight with Jason & he then went on a shooting spree & shot his sister, & chased his brother n law down & shot him 5x in the back?? Wow, i bet she does have guilt and grief after just admitting they would still be there if they wouldn’t have gotten into that argument. I wonder what was said in this argument that caused him to become so bent for hell that he gunned down his sister, grazing his son with a bullet, & ran his brother n law down shooting him 5x from behind. Wow, just wow! This is so devastating. The mother wants to know what happened that day & while the young woman who’s sitting there rubbing her arms, & knows the answer to why he was so angry. This family, the mother, the older brother, Jason, & His deceased sister, all educated, well spoken, & full well know that their mother wanted so much more for her children. She didn’t want them in the streets & you can tell by their speaking skills that she taught them right and wrong. Generations of pain here that will never heal.

I was already bawling like a baby from the first statement but when that sweet young man started speaking, I absolutely lost it. I’m just now coming across this tragedy but I pray these 2 families come together through this and especially help this young man. Prayers and blessings to each and everyone one who were impacted by these great losses.

Unfortunately I don’t see my son who’s 30. But if he killed his sister I’d never talk to him again. Mum needs to let him go. Otherwise she won’t have any peace. You have to honour your daughter and Grandchild .

I think the reason why he made his statement is because his mother already lost her daughter and her 6th grandchild and he already lost his sister and unborn niece and he wanted the judge to spare his brother’s life because it would cause more pain to his mother both of these families are suffering this is a tragic tragic situation. That is why I believe when he spoke it was his deep love for his mother.. he pleaded for his brothers life to protect his mother from loosing another child.. please remember and understand that her son’s actions caused horrendous pain to both sides of this beautiful family.. I understand why you may have wondered why he made the request from the Judge.. I too had to think about why he wanted to speak in his grief for his sister and love for his brother he took the opportunity to make his request. These circumstances are conflicting and unexplainable.. my heart goes out to both sides. I say this with all due respect. Peace.
I have family members who I haven't talked to in years. One I hold responsible for my Mother's death. Even though I hated how she treated my Mom in her last days, there's never a moment that I ever think of committing murder or any other violent act upon her. I leave that in God's hands

I don’t see why people are saying they’re crying watching this I mean he did something that was terrible but what they’re saying is it making me cry not to say that I don’t get emotional but it’s just not that heartfelt. The victims impact statements got me but watching The deceased running & being chased by this fool made me cry knowing that was his last moments before he died . This guy is a cold blooded monster . He killed him got the guts to walk from the scene after shooing him not hiding the gun like he was proud of what he did . He’s evil very evil Fool. Brianna's impact statement was truly heart breaking to hear. I think that most of us could feel her grief, like it was outs, it was palpable. They will meet again, when there are no more tears, nor pain and The Lord God promises.
I have no words.. No words can explain how heartless this monster was. With no explanation..???? My deep prayers are with the family on both sides. . A family function They will never ever get over this, at a family function no less. In front of children.. Heartless.. I have to note this judge.. Kind , heartfelt everything a judge should be.
