Dude this is awesome. I personally hate mittens. I like to move my fingers around. I can also see this being useful for toe socks. Thanks for sharing your process.
@emilysmith2784 I found this video looking for a way to approach toe socks. I am worried that either the gauge will be too large (as you mentioned at the end of this video), or they will end up too bulky between the toes. Great video! The graphics really make it clear what's going on
@@emilysmith2784 there’s a huge list growing though. I want to make a latte cup scarf, a sushi scarf a Harry Potter scarf. When I get my smaller machine I’ve got about 5 sitting angels I want to make and Wednesday doll. 🤣
Aww brilliant thank you emily i can have a go at making gloves now to go with my hats and scarfs i made. I had a loom Knitting pattern for gloves but i found i got little holes so i thought on my knitting machine would be better but couldn't find anything kept giving me fingerless gloves which i don't like really. Once again thank you emily for a brilliant tutorial i love watching yours so easy to follow and understand. 😊
Thanks. I find the coldest parts of my hands are my fingers so I never got the appeal of fingerless gloves although I of course made a few pairs before I learned that about myself 😂. It was the same with the mittens. Don’t know until you try.
@@kathryntoft7753 I am thinking about putting an alpaca silk yarn in my next pair and knitting double. When I tried the yarn on the machine on its own I didn’t like it as all the fuzzies ended up on the inside, but I think that’s exactly what I want in a glove. Might help close up some of the gaps too.
Can you do a tutorial on how to do the decreases and increases on the machine? I'm an intermediate knitter, but I'm a fish out of water with the knitting machine. Also, wow I didn't know it was possible to knit a tube narrower than the # of stitches on the machine (without a seam).
As I was working on socks today (on my 3 week old circular sock machine ) I thought of these gloves. It occurred to me that a desired yarn could be needle woven - in duplicate stitching - to thicken the fabric. As I would like a glove with thin fabric palm side and thick fabric on the back, I will be testing the idea. ... but after I get my fill of dropping stitches on heel and toe increases... (sigh)
That’s a good idea. I’ve never done thrums before. I was considering putting an alpaca silk yarn in my next pair and knitting double. When I tried the yarn on the machine on its own I didn’t like it as all the fuzzies ended up on the inside, but I think that’s exactly what I want in a glove. Might help close up some of the gaps too
