LÍRICÍ thíos /// LYRICS below
V1
Bhí mé fós an-óg 's bhris mo lámh
Bhí mé ríocht uaidh mo dheatháir ar an trá
‘s bhlas mé an cumhrán deas ón bhféar cnoic air a raibh mé
Mé saonta ansin,
Tabhair ar ais mé ‘nois
Réamhchurfá:
Chuig
An gcéad leainín a thóg mo chroí
‘ Raibh cairde caillte ‘s déanta aríst
Is fada liom an garraí mór (ar) rith mé ann
le fáilte ‘n tsáile
‘s beidh mé thiar ag baile
Curfá:
‘S in aghaidh an tsléibh’,
Ag tiomáint ar 90, dhul síos bóthar séimh,
Ag canadh le Conamara,
‘S b’fhearr liom an tslí ‘ bhíonn tú lem' thaobh, ‘do luí
Ar imeacht na gréine
Thairis an caisleán ar an droim
V2
Cúig bliana déag ‘s caitheamh cloch ar’n teachín tuí
Ríocht ar an tsráíd tríd na siopaí ‘s goil i bhfolach ón dlí
B’í mo chéad phóg í an Aoine sin,
Ní heol dom an bhfuil cailín linn
Bhí mé saonta ansin,
Tabhair ar ais mé anois
Réamhchurfá 2
don am
Raibh obair lách, gan mórán ann
Cheannódh muid ól, le tabhairt ar fán
Níl mé ‘s mo chairde théis bheith tinn le tamall
Oh mé a’ súil nuair
a bheidh mé thiar ag baile
Curfá
‘S in aghaidh an tsléibh’,
Ag tiomáint ar 90, dhul síos bóthar séimh,
Ag canadh le Conamara,
‘S b’fhearr liom an tslí ‘ bhíonn tú lem' thaobh, ‘do luí
Ar imeacht na gréine
Thairis an caisleán ar an droim
Thairis an caisleán ar an droim
Droichead (Bridge Section):
Cairde liom ag múineadh leo
Ceann eile a’ díoladh bróg
Ceann le beirt mhac ‘s é faoi stró
Ceann tóghta leis an ól
Ceann ag tiontú ar an dara bean
Ceann bhfuil gruaim ‘tá fós ar lean ach
Is iad mo chlann iad
‘s beidh mé thiar ag baile
Curfá
‘S in aghaidh an tsléibh’,
Ag tomáint ar 90, goil síos bóthar séimh,
Ag canadh le Conamara,
‘S b’fhearr liom an tslí ‘ bhíonn tú lem thaobh, ‘do luí
Ar imeacht na gréine
Thairis an caisleán ar an droim
Thairis an caisleán ar an droim

Aaron Buckley They are now on Facebook! Please check them out. They are live a few hours a week Tuesday and Friday, maybe more and you can see older videos. They're speaking, teaching, singing, just talking with everyone in various bits of languages & translating so everybody can understand & pick up a little here & there, especially great to hear the singing & spoken and taught a little. Type the language in on uTube, plenty of people are teaching the different dialects. It's really interesting. I didn't realize there were so many different dialects, but that's the same in any language.

I am of a generation of Irish who was always told the image of my people was as drunkards and morose which I would always take offense and try to prove otherwise, but ever sense, thanks be to God, this young group of intelligent and proud Irish have back to their and language it is a proud day in morning and thanks to all of you who have embraced and show it proudly!!!!!!!

Here's the truth from MY side...that the Irish were always full of life and more dour people couldn't handle that. We who were not Irish couldn't stand the fullness of life's joy the Irish could and so...we just couldn't handle it

You haven't had to learn it in school every single day the teachers just teach it terribly and it so boring
@chesterite74
@chesterite74 3 года назад
@@gumpastee to be fair that is no different than most language courses here in the US, be it english or a foreign language. it is very difficult to find a teacher who plants passion in the spoken/written language and engages the students in a way of creating minds who embrace the wonders of language.
@bronsonleach3573
@bronsonleach3573 2 года назад
@@chesterite74 Also too because most highschools that have foreign languages only teach them in middle school and highschool and are not mandatory. Also too you will have the language ability of a 5th grader in that language if you take all four years in highschool. It is understandable to the people of the language but you will not be able to understand dialects accents nor slang without accually speaking with the person. I took German in highschool but couldn't take all four years in highschool but the only people I speak it with are Amish and they have a dialect which is hard to understand if all you have been taught is the standard of the language. The same can be said about learners of English yes we can understand you but will you be able do learn all the accents and dialects that Americans speak in a classroom setting no way.

When I first began exploring my Irish heritage some 40 years ago, it made me sad to know the language was only spoken by a very small population. So I got a Berlitz tape course to learn it. I still don't speak it well. But there's a group here in North Texas that teaches it. Might be time to look into that. Finding Seo Linn and TG Lurgan, seeing those young people singing in Irish just makes me so proud and hopeful that the Irish language will live on.
